i rights and channelx take chelsey:omg! to Market part 1

London, 3rd October 2008 - i-Rights, part of the Digital Rights Group (DRG), and Channel X have signed a three-year deal that will see i-Rights distribute a new 10 part online comedy series Chelsey:OMG! aimed at 16-25 year olds worldwide.

The series, which officially launches at MIPCOM 2008 is created by comedian and writer Nat Coombs and produced by Channel X. Chelsey:OMG! is an online video series fronted by a young American girl visiting London for the first time and watches her as she tries to try and work out why all the buildings in Europe are “like, soooo, old” and how “someone like Kerry Katona is this enormous superstar, like Britney or Li-Lo’s Mom!”

Critics charge that with the aim of production at any cost, regardless of the damage to the surrounding people and land, Shell disrupted thousands of lives and wreaked havoc on the environment. In the early 1990’s, the people of Nigeria began to protest. Shell made payments and provided arms to security forces that they knew to be abusive to local communities. The military government violently repressed the demonstrations and arrested and bribed witnesses. Nine leaders of the demonstrations were murdered, including the aforementioned well-known activist and writer, Ken Saro-Wiwa.

Scientists have discovered mystery snippets of mammal DNA that have survived eons of evolution and yet have no apparent purpose. The finding reveals just how much we don't know about the secrets hidden in our genome and that of other animals.

Most genes change throughout evolution via mutations; useless ones eventually get weeded out of the population while the helpful modifications take hold. However, about 500 regions of our DNA — the body's instruction code made up of base pairs of molecules — have apparently remained intact throughout the history of mammalian evolution, or the past 80 million to 100 million years, basically free of mutations.

Mutations are introduced into these regions just as they are everywhere else, but they're swept out of the genome much more quickly,

Palin - Biden Wash

The Vice Presidential candidate debate was a wash in this writer’s opinion. Sen. Biden had a command of the details and historical facts, too many of them in the first half of the debate, but, if his objective was to reflect the Bush years into a McCain presidency, he was successful. Gov. Palin alleviated fears and anxieties over her appearing to be an air head with a solid rehearsed bag of tricks, like avoiding the questions, reverting to taxes, and attack, attack, attack. She stood toe to toe with Joe, and her base will praise her for it till the cows come home and long after.

The broken economy is basically freezing the majority of the people. AMC plans Mars mission

AMC is looking to outer space as it beefs up its slate, developing a series project with writer/executive producer Jonathan Hensleigh based on the sci-fi novel "Red Mars."

"Mars," a 1992 novel by Kim Stanley Robinson, chronicles the inhabitants of the first human colony on the planet. Hensleigh ("Armageddon") is the writer and will executive produce alongside Michael Jaffe and Howard Braunstein of Jaffe Braunstein Entertainment ("The Memory Keeper's Daughter") and Vince Gerardis, Ralph Vicinanza and Eli Kirschner of Created By ("Jumper").

AMC is no stranger to the sci-fi arena: The network also is prepping a miniseries remake of the 1960s sci-fi series "The Prisoner," starring Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen. But "Prisoner," Wayne said, is "not strictly sci-fi" and instead "runs the gamut" from psychological thriller to sci-fi to drama.

Scientists reported yesterday that they have overcome a major obstacle to using a promising alternative to embryonic stem cells, bolstering prospects for bypassing the political and ethical tempest that has embroiled hopes for a new generation of medical treatments.

The researchers said they found a safe way to coax adult cells to regress into an embryonic state, alleviating what had been the most worrisome uncertainty about developing the cells into potential cures.

"We have removed a major roadblock for translating this into a clinical setting," said Konrad Hochedlinger, a Harvard University stem cell researcher whose research was published online yesterday by the journal Science. "I think it's an important advance."

The development is the latest in the rapidly advancing and politically charged field of stem cell research.

When one reporter asked an escort, who would not give her name, why the press wasn't allowed to mingle, she said that in the past, negative things had been written, Schulte reported.

When indie musician Todd Baechle married Orenda Fink, he made a decision that rocked some worlds. He took his wife's last name.

And — most troubling for Fink — it was grueling to navigate the legal process of changing his name. Many county and state officials didn't know what to do.

There's a slow-growing trend for men to take their spouses' last names. No local, state or national agency records the instances, but anecdotal evidence nationwide indicates it's more common

Todd Fink made the choice for a number of reasons.

When Todd Fink informed his family, his parents were surprised — and not pleased.

"They eventually accepted it," he said. "They understand I'm still the same son I was before, even though I have a different name."
