well-being; it's toxic stuff. People who are frequently exposed to hostile
language get sick more often, are injured more often, take longer to recover from
illness and injury, and suffer more complications during recovery. As an
obvious result, they tend to die sooner than those not so exposed. What's
more, hostile language is just as dangerous to the person dishing it out
(and to innocent bystanders who can't leave the scene) as it is to the
person on the receiving end.

Bush, Joe Lieberman, and Fred Thompson all failed to utter the words "Afghanistan" or "Pakistan" a single time.

Colonel Joe noticed. I noticed it. And lots of other military types--especially those tasked with fighting in that theater--noticed the obvious (and likely deliberate) oversight.

Maybe if Afghanistan and Pakistan were closer to Alaska--like Russia--it would cause concern for those attending the Republican National Convention.

Tags: pakistan, afghanistan

<clipSource>http://www.vetvoice.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=1841</clipSource>

Words Palin didn't say...

clipped by: monstersmom

Clip Source: www.vanityfair.com

Twenty words not found in Sarah Palin’s convention speech (based on the prepared text):

Bush
However, I see that in her mind, and perhaps my own, any democrat is better than the chance of ending up with any other republican.

Tags: barack obama, sarah palin, mccain, politics, aspergers, down’s syndrome, asd, bi-polar, election 2008

<clipSource>http://www.ashtynevans.com/2008/09/jumping-on-the-barack-bandwagon/</clipSource>

Westmoreland calls Obama ‘uppity'

clipped by: tabsey
clipper's remarks: Absolutely amazing. To speak in such a snobbish/old money way, would not be tolerated at this level by Australians. A part of the culture that should be changed. And to further show ignorance, L W is shepherded into a world of name calling.

Clip Source: www.michaelmoore.com

Georgia Republican Rep. Lynn Westmoreland used the racially-tinged term "uppity" to describe Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama Thursday.

Westmoreland was discussing vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's speech with reporters outside the House chamber and was asked to compare her with Michelle Obama.

"Just from what little I’ve seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they're a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they're uppity," Westmoreland said.

Asked to clarify that he used the word “uppity,” Westmoreland said, “Uppity, yeah.”

Other Democrats have charged that the Republican campaign to paint the Illinois senator as an “elitist” is racially charged, and accused them of using code words for “uppity” without using the word itself.

In August, Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) told reporters, “When I hear the word ‘elitist’ linked with Barack Obama, to me, that is a code word for 'uppity.' I find it extremely offensive and John McCain should know better.”
