People respect you more for dealing with things in an elegant manner instead of having a fit.”

Tags: the daily beast, dita von teese, press

<clipSource>http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-11-11/american-striptease/</clipSource>

The Relative Size of Things.

clipped by: EddieIsSteady

Clip Source: news.discovery.com

The Relative Size of Things

Back in the 70s or 80s, IBM made a video called The Power of 10, which showed the relative size of things from the universe to the cell and the effect of adding a zero. If the beans are too finely ground, some of it may not be caught by the filter and will end up in your cup. Also, it can block the filter, so it’s hard to press the plunger down. It’s suggested to use burr grinder for grinding the beans, because it creates equal sized boulders. Blade grinders tend to create dust and boulders are varying in size, so the taste of coffee suffers.

Tags: coffee, french press, coffee grounds, coffee press

<clipSource>http://blog.wakeupvibes.com/199/how-to-choose-the-perfect-grinder/</clipSource>

The The "The Beat(en) Generation"

clipped by: sahara
clipper's remarks: And our youth, oh youth, are being seduced
By the greedy hands of politics and half truths

The beaten generation, the beaten generation
Reared on a diet of prejudice and misinformation
The beaten generation, the beaten generation
Open your eyes, open your imagination

We're being sedated by the gasoline fumes
And hypnotised by the satellites
Into believing what is good and what is right

You may be worshipping the temples of mammon
Or lost in the prisons of religion
But can you still walk back to happiness
When you've nowhere left to run?

If they send in the special police
To deliver us from evil and keep us from peace

Then won't the words sit ill upon their tongues
When they tell us justice is being done
That freedom lives in the barrels of a warm gun?

The beaten generation, the beaten generation
Reared on a diet of prejudice and misinformation
The beaten generation, the beaten generation
Open your eyes, open your imagination

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

Clip Source: www.thethe.com

When you cast your eyes upon the skylines of this ...
Hackers could potentially steal personal information, remotely drain batteries, or cause a dangerous malfunction, so researchers are working on ways to block them. The approach relies on using ultrasound waves to determine the exact distance between a medical device and the wireless reader attempting to communicate with it

The plan is to only allow access to a medical device from wireless reading devices within 10 feet, and only then after a series of authentication steps.
The listener weighs the evidence used by the talker to support the points that he makes. "Is this evidence valid?" the listener asks himself. "Is it the complete evidence?"

Periodically the listener reviews and mentally summarizes the points of the talk completed thus far.

Throughout the talk, the listener "listens between the lines" in search of meaning that is not necessarily put into spoken words. He pays attention to nonverbal communication (facial expressions, gestures, tone of voice) to see if it adds meaning to the spoken words. He asks himself, "Is the talker purposely skirting some area of the subject? Why is he doing so?"

Tags: listen

<clipSource>http://blogs.harvardbusiness.org/hbr/hbreditors/2009/11/is_listening_an_endangered_ski.html</clipSource>
