Shark Bite Caesarean Saves Shark Babies in New Zealand

Sharks often "nip" at each other, but

, there's a fine line between scratch and death. In this case, the pregnant female sustained a gaping wound to her side, releasing her babies into the tank. All of this happened during daytime in front of visitors who more than got their ticket's worth.

Mother and offspring survived

the "C-section" probably saved the lives of the babies. If the pregnant shark had given birth at night, other sharks in the tank, along with stingrays, probably would have gulped the little sharks down as if they were hors d'oeuvres.

And there's more to the happy ending, at least for now. The mother and her offspring have been placed in a separate "nursery" tank. When the mother has fully recovered and the babies are old enough, they will all be released back into the wild.

Hell yes this sounds crazy, but think about it, the conservatives are rallying, the middle 40% are leaning, and the liberals are learning a lesson.

The conservatives are pushing back way more than Obama ever excepted, the support for Obama's policies is starting to wane, 2010 will be the measuring stick for this theory.

I guess we will all find out in 2010, gonna be a wild ride, wouldn't miss it for the world.

I have to believe that a big part of that 40% wanted no more Bush, and I understand that and I get

that.

Is our increasingly urban lifestyle leading us to lose touch with the realities of life and death? World famous wildlife communicator Sir David Attenborough believes it is.

"There's no doubt that we are becoming increasingly divorced from the natural world, there are lots of people who spend their lives in cities and never see a wild thing unless it's a pigeon or maybe a rat, so you lose touch, you lose touch with the rhythms of the natural world, you lose touch with the realities of the natural world," he said.

"I don't want to get too pretentious but you lose touch with both life and death, with both how life is created and how death is inevitable.

"If you're brought up in the countryside - and I wasn't - but if you were you would know those things on a daily basis, you see life and death in the farm yard."

Sir David also cites the increasing of the world's population as a big factor in the decreasing size of the natural world.

The remains of a mighty Persian army said to have drowned in the sands of the western Egyptian desert 2,500 years ago might have been finally located, solving one of archaeology's biggest outstanding mysteries, according to Italian researchers.

Bronze weapons, a silver bracelet, an earring and hundreds of human bones found in the vast desolate wilderness of the Sahara desert have raised hopes of finally finding the lost army of Persian King Cambyses II. The 50,000 warriors were said to be buried by a cataclysmic sandstorm in 525 B.C.

According to Herodotus (484-425 B.C.), Cambyses, the son of Cyrus the Great, sent 50,000 soldiers from Thebes to attack the Oasis of Siwa and destroy the oracle at the Temple of Amun after the priests there refused to legitimize his claim to Egypt.

"A wind arose from the south, strong and deadly, bringing with it vast columns of whirling sand, which entirely covered up the troops and caused them wholly to disappear," wrote Herodotus.

Researchers in Malaysian Borneo have captured the world’s most elusive and endangered cat on film. The beautiful Bornean bay cat, Catopuma badia, is so rare; a live cat was not even photographed until 1998!

Although the amazing video only lasts seven seconds, the chestnut-red cat with the long tail can be clearly seen walking through the forest. Because so little is known about this particular wild cat, even its eating habits are unknown.

Endemic to the forests of Borneo, threats to this elusive animal include illegal pet trade, poaching, deforestation and habitat loss largely due to palm oil plantations. Listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, it is estimated that only 2,500 Bornean bay cats remain in the wild today.
