Caskets on isle 15, shovels in the gardening section. Ok maybe I took it to far there but yes you can buy caskets at Walmart, but not actually in the store which would be even more weird. Maybe I am just behind in the times and I did not know that already. How naive of me not to think you could order a casket online at Walmart, you can get anything else really. Pa. woman, daughter hold signs admitting theft

In exchange for no jail time, a woman and her adult daughter have agreed to stand outside a Pennsylvania courthouse holding signs saying they stole a gift card from a 9-year-old girl on her birthday.

Fifty-six-year-old Evelyn Border and 35-year-old Tina Griekspoor stood outside the court for 4 1/2 hours Tuesday.

Because the women agreed to hold the signs, Bedford County District Attorney Bill Higgins says he'll ask for probation instead of jail when they plead guilty to the theft.

The girl's mother planned to drive by the courthouse to teach her daughter the importance of obeying the law.

Higgins says they swiped a gift card that the girl set on a shelf while a Walmart employee helped her.

(Newser) – America's leading big-box store is now also a pine box store. Wal-Mart has started selling a range of discount coffins on its website and plans to expand its death products to include pet urns and memorial jewelry. Prices start at just $895 for a steel coffin. Funeral home owners say they're not too worried about the competition. Wal-Mart will never be able to replace the human touch funeral home directors offer, the head of an industry group tells AP.

Throughout its history, Walmart has been disruptive to a number of industries, from local retailers to grocery stores. Now, you can add funeral homes to the list. The company’s website has started selling several models of caskets, starting at $999.

Walmart is not the first major retailer to offer caskets online, but its branding and reach certainly makes it a force to be reckoned with in the world of family run funeral homes (though many funeral homes are now part of big chains too).

According to the AP, federal law mandates that funeral homes accept caskets from third-parties, so unless they want to match Walmart, price conscious consumers shouldn’t have any issues if they want to use the retailer. On the other hand, ordering a casket from Walmart does seem a bit impersonal. But, if you simply want to save a few dollars at the end, well, now you can.

Never mind its typical merchandise, the world's largest retailer has a new item on the shelf.

You can now purchase Walmart caskets, a development that could threaten funeral homes. Beginning at $999 for lower-end models, all 27 caskets in the Walmart online inventory cost less than $2,000, except the "Sienna Bronze Casket," which sells for $3,199. The caskets come from Star Legacy Funeral Network, Inc., of McHenry, Ill., and ship within 48 hours.

Blogs are having fun with this one. Several noted it's just in time for Halloween. One pointed out that this gives people a chance to live eternally with low prices. The topic is popping up on forums too.

I had a former employee call me earlier today inquiring about a job, and at the end of the conversation he gave me his phone number. I asked the former employee if this was a new cell phone number and he told me yes this was his “Obama phone.” I asked him what an “Obama phone” was and he went on to say that welfare recipients are now eligible to receive (1) a FREE new phone and (2) approx 70 minutes of FREE minutes every month.
