UPDATE 1-Mexico court rules against Walmex worker vouchers

MEXICO CITY, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Mexico's Supreme Court ruled that the country's top retailer, Wal-Mart de Mexico, violated the constitution by paying a worker in part with store cards only usable in the chain's outlets, the court said on Friday.

Wal-Mart de Mexico (WALMEXV.MX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), also known as Walmex and a unit of U.S. retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), gives electronic store cards as part of salaries, which the court said harked back to exploitative wage practices of over a century ago.

For now, the ruling only applies to the one worker and will not oblige Walmex to scrap the card scheme.

But if enough other employees group together to bring a similar case to court it could ensure all future rulings on the card scheme would go the same way, a court spokesman said.

Parents Outraged Over Baby Doll They Say Mumbles Pro-Islam Message

A doll some are claiming utters pro-Islam and even satanic messages has outraged parents in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

People insist they can hear Fisher-Price's "Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo" mumbling "Islam is the light" and "Satan is king," according to KJRH.com and MyFOXKC.com.

"There's no markings on the box to indicate there's anything Islamic about this doll," said Gary Rofkahr of Owasso, Okla., who was at work when another man brought the toy in to show his colleagues.

Rofkahr said he found various versions of the doll at local Target and Wal-Mart stores, which have since pulled the toys from their shelves, reported KJRH.com.

Fisher-Price referred all calls to parent company Mattel, which didn't immediately respond to FOXNews.com's requests for comment.

A Target representative told KJRH.com the company has no plans to recall the doll nationwide.

Why You Shouldn't Vote for Barack Obama

I decided go out, among the flock, to talk to some of my neighbors, co-workers and people in the local Wal-mart and grocery stores, to get some reasons why I shouldn’t vote for this new shiny coin they call Barack Obama.

I found a co-worker of mine who carries the opinion that he is a Muslim pretending to be a Christian. That he hates white people and was sent here by Al Qaeda to infiltrate the terrorist’s agenda into USA soil. They know this because he received an email from a friend from church, or a co-worker who received this information from a reliable source.

I also spoke to an older friend of mine

She said, “He is a Chicago “slickster” who has a big “MTV Cribs” style house.

I did find a lady at the grocery store who told me that “McCain was a prisoner of war and therefore could be trusted with the country”.

I enjoy communing with nature. I just don't like it when nature tries communing back.

I don't care for hiking. The longest hike I ever made was trying to find my car in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Though Acorn touts living-wage laws as a way to lift the working poor into the middle class, the vast body of academic work on wage laws shows that they end up hurting the poor by forcing businesses to eliminate some low-wage jobs. Acorn's own leadership understands this principle perfectly. When California regulators sued Acorn for not paying its own workers the minimum wage, Acorn argued that this would endanger its mission—because it would have to hire fewer workers.

One of Acorn's real intentions with this legislation is to help its public-sector union allies. By artificially raising the cost of outsourcing until it is just as costly as work done by government employees, "the Living Wage undercuts the incentive to privatize," Acorn proclaims in its manual on how to run a living-wage campaign.

But don't worry, this will never ever happen to all those other DRM companies -- unlike little fly-by-night mom-and-pop operations like Wal*Mart, the DRM companies are rock-ribbed veterans of commerce and industry, sure to be here for a thousand years. So go on buying your Audible books, your iTunes DRM songs, your Zune media, your EA games... None of these companies will ever disappear, nor will the third-party DRM suppliers they use. They are as solid and permanent as Commodore, Atari, the Soviet Union, the American credit system and the Roman Empire.

Boy, the entertainment industry sure makes a good case for ripping them off, huh? Buy your media and risk having it confiscated by a DRM-server shutdown. Take it for free and keep it forever.

I wandered through the Wal-Mart, which seemed almost as large as Wasilla, a town that is a soulless strip mall without sidewalks set beside a soulful mountain and lake.

I talked to a Wal-Mart mom, Betty Necas, 39, wearing sweatpants and tattoos on her wrists.

She said she’s never voted, and was a teenage mom “like Bristol.” She likes Sarah because she’s “down home” but said Obama “gives me the creeps. Nothing to do with the fact that he’s black. He just seems snotty, and he looks weaselly.”

I stopped by Sarah’s old Pentecostal church, the Wasilla Assembly of God, and perused some books: “The Bait of Satan,” “Deliverance from PMS,” and “Kissed the Girls and Made them Cry: Why Women Lose When They Give In.”

A local conservative radio personality, Eddie Burke, who had lambasted the organizers as “a bunch of socialist, baby-killing maggots,” was on hand with a sign reading “Alaska is not Frisco.”
