Mike has been performing since 1979 and has performed all styles of music from Rock & Roll, Country, Pop, Reggae to mention a few. His main influence as you've probably guessed by his name is Don & Phil The Everly Brothers.

He also likes artistes such as Elton John, Bryan Adams, Robbie Williams, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison etc, all of which he includes in his show along with many other artistes too many to mention.

Mike has built up a strong following over the years and has played all over the UK & Europe, including Switzerland, Spain, Holland and has also recorded one of his own self penned songs in Nashville, Tennessee. He has a strong voice which has matured into a unique sound over the years, you might say like a fine wine.

I once met a female former ex-lobbyist who told me "Back in the day Jesse Helms was the biggest ass pincher in Washington." She alleged to be one of his pinchees.

I wish I had something good to say about the man, but I don't. I'm sorry for his passing.

I suppose the fact that he died on July 4 will play as a "sign" from the Almighty among the cultural conservatives.

Former United States senator from North Carolina Jesse Helms has died today at the age of 86 after a long batter with vascular dementia.

Helms was born Jesse Alexander Helms, Jr. on October 18, 1921 in Monroe, North Carolina. He was a five term senator for N.C. and was also a former Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman. He also became the first U.S. lawmaker to speak in front of the United Nations Security Council.

"Jesse Helms was one of the most consequential figures of the 20th century. Along with Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, he helped establish the conservative movement and became a powerful voice for free markets and free people," said Ed Feulner, president of the Heritage Foundation.

"I'm just going to talk to you from my heart," said Escalante, 25, eyes rimmed in dark liner, lips outlined in dark pencil. "Independence means breaking the cycle of three generations of incarceration. It means independence from three generations of drug addiction. It means independence from living a gang life."

Her voice grew stronger. "My independence means getting myself together and living for my kids." The room erupted in applause. In a treatment facility where tears and anger and angst are the rule of the day, a beauty pageant was an opportunity to let self-esteem flourish.

The smartphone that has been hailed as "the iPhone killer" by online pundits is coming to Canada on Aug. 8.

The Samsung Instinct, which has many of the same features as the Apple iPhone, differs from the iPhone in one major way: Its monthly price plan, which will dramatically undercut the iPhone plan announced last week by Rogers Wireless.

A subscriber can buy the Instinct for as low as $149.95 and then pay less than $40 a month for a modest voice plan accompanied by an unlimited data plan on Bell's high-speed data network.

In contrast, Rogers Wireless's cheapest iPhone plan costs $60 per month, and includes only 400 megabytes of data.

Like Rogers, Bell Mobility offers a variety of voice plans, but asks $10 a month for the unlimited data plan, applicable to all smartphone models carried by Bell. the plan includes Internet browsing, multimedia content, e-mail, GPS navigation, live and on-demand TV content, full song downloads, streaming radio and an impressive HTML Web experience.

Mayor John Hickenlooper’s annual State of the City address may get more attention for what wasn’t included than what was.
At the start of the event Tuesday morning, City Council President Michael Hancock introduced singer Rene Marie to perform the national anthem.
Instead, she performed the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” which is also known as the “black national anthem.”
When she finished, the audience responded with mild applause. The national anthem was never performed.
Marie told 9NEWS she kept her plans to switch songs quiet until the very last moment. She says only she, her husband and a friend knew she was going to sing something other than the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
She says she wanted to express her love of her country by mixing the lyrics of “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” with the melody of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

Windows Vista's built-in speech recognition tools are seriously powerful and convenient, as Adam demonstrated by controlling his PC with his voice, but, as he noted, the process for adding seriously helpful macros to the "technical preview" macro tool isn't quite apparent. Luckily, Rob Chambers of Microsoft's speech division has posted a guide to editing, saving, and enabling speech macros in Vista. Good thing, too, because his own blog has lots of geekily awesome macros available for free copying: a Windows Media Player controller that lets you say something as casual as "Play something by Led Zeppelin"; a simple "Send email to ..."
