This is a video of Roomba Pac-Man in action. A few clarifications:

The red tape on the floor is simply so the user can visualize the map in the real world. The robots are unaware of the tape, and are rather constrained by a virtual boundary embedded in their programming.

The "dots" on the floor are pieces of paper the the Pac-Man Roomba must vacuum up to complete the map.

The ghosts actually autonomously search for Pac-Man, and when they get close enough to "sense" Pac-Man, chase him according to a set of probabalistic rules.

The human controller cannot force the Pac-Man to cross any boundaries, it will only allow inputs in valid directions.

Apple iTunes TV Pitch: Another Nail in Cable's Coffin

It's going to happen, the only question is when. The cable TV industry's monopolistic, anti-consumer practice of offering bloated, overpriced programming packages is coming mercifully to an end, brought down by a slew of more affordable options made possible by broadband Internet.

The most recent example: Today's report from All Things Digital's Peter Kafka, who says that Apple is pitching a monthly subscription service to the TV networks, an iTunes-based alternative to cable packages that would cost about $30 per month. Apple wants to launch the service early next year, provided it can get broadcast and cable TV programmers to sign up, Kafka reports.

Amen to anything that busts the trust of Cable people.

Apple TV offers YouTube as an option in the menu. You can watch all the YouTube you want in Apple TV.

Jacquelyn Ford Morie is a senior researcher at the Institute for Creative Technologies at the University of Southern California. She formerly did animation for Disney. She calls her current project, which she presented at the Web 2.0 Summit on Thursday, Coming Home.

The healing center is in Second Life, a virtual world. It has a big lodge, where people can spend time and talk with each other, anonymously if they prefer. They can sit around a fireplace, play games in the game room or relax on a deck next to a waterfall. They can climb a tower, where they will meet a historical warrior who tells them stories about his life.
