Use an appropriate technique.

Your best bet is to stay on your feet and use striking techniques. Karate is one good choice - it was originally designed in the 1600’s for use by unarmed Japanese day care workers.

Be aware of the terrain.

The ideal situation is fighting children who are trapped in a ditch below you.

Stay mobile.

You must avoid becoming surrounded at all costs. Keep moving, and always trying to position the bulk of children on one side of you.

Speed.

You want this fight to be over fast. Children have boundless amounts of energy, and you’ll tire quickly as the fight progresses.

Intimidation.

When taunting, remember that children are almost comically stupid, and won’t understand any of your more creative taunts.

Go for the leader first.

I’d recommend lifting his body over your head and screaming yourself hoarse. That’s the smart veteran move.

Groin attacks.

Weapons.

By bringing a weapon you might prompt the children to bring weapons as well.

Let the last one walk away.

WARSAW -- Signing a missile-defense deal with its good friend the United States has earned Poland nothing less than the threat of nuclear attack from Russia -- a threat that might not sound so empty these days, given Moscow's bloody battle with Georgia.

That conflict has plunged Europe into serious crisis, sending waves of jitters through Poland and other eastern nations, once-occupied parts of a Soviet Empire that some fear Russia may want to reconstruct. Russia's actions have also succeeded in driving deeper the wedge between Europe's East and West.

Jackson Browne is suing John McCain for using the song "Running on Empty" in a campaign ad -- and the veteran rocker is also calling the candidate a great pretender when it comes to standing up for constitutional rights.

Browne, one of rock music's most famous activists for liberal causes, is "incensed" that the presumptive Republican candidate for president has been using Browne's signature 1977 song "Running on Empty" in campaign commercials, according to the singer-songwriter's attorney. Browne filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against both McCain and the Republican National Committee on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles seeking a permanent injunction prohibiting the use of the forlorn arena anthem or any other Browne compositions, as well as damages.

Iser said the lawsuit "is not politically motivated. It's a copyright infringement lawsuit, pure and simple, but the fact that Sen. McCain has used this song in a hit-piece on Barack Obama is anathema to Jackson."

When Obama was asked on Pastor Rick Warren's Saddleback Political Forum, who Obama would not have nominated for Supreme Court Justice, Obama said "Clarence Thomas". He then goes on to denigrate Thomas's intellect ("not a strong enough legal thinker or intellect"). Wow. By G-d this man has hubris. Have you read Clarence Thomas's, "My Grandfather's Son"?

The audience applauded (was that racist? I'm confused.) John Bolton, the intellectual's intellectual, has called Clarence Thomas "an outstanding Supreme Court Justice".

And Scalia? Only the greatest living justice on the bench. lol

So Obama applauds terrorists rights, eminent domain for private enterprise and leniency for child rapists. Good luck with that America.

For soldiers returning from Afghanistan and Iraq, health care and the transition back into society are important issues. Questions are being raised about what types of health care treatments soldiers should receive. Congress held another hearing on a recent VA case involving veteran negligence based on a series of Washington Times articles. In VA hospitals a non-smoking drug Chantix is given to veterans to help them quit smoking. This even after the FDA, drug maker Pfizer and the VA itself found the drug to have serious risks, including suicidal behavior.

Corsi, you may recall, was the coauthor of "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry," the campaign diatribe that slimed the decorated Vietnam War veteran and then-Democratic presidential candidate's war record.

Corsi is frank about his motives for writing "The Obama Nation." As he told the New York Times this week: "The goal is to defeat Obama. I don't want Obama to be in office."

That's clear enough from the text. You can pretty well sum the whole thing up this way: The Democratic candidate is a deceitful jihadist drug addict who, if elected, plans to impose a black supremacist, socialist regime.

What's far more interesting is how somebody like Corsi suddenly becomes a player in a presidential campaign.

If the music you seem to hear playing in the background sounds familiar, it's because ... yes, you've crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

Turns out that Bill Gates was not the only famous Microsoft identity to be spotted at the Olympic opening ceremony.

Numerous bloggers also observed the cameo played by the so-called Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) - the Windows error screen that flashes up on your computer, signifying that it's time to reboot.

The screen was projected onto the roof of the National Stadium during the grand finale to the four-hour spectacular as veteran Chinese gymnast Li Ning, suspended 70 metres above the stadium floor, "jogged" towards the Olympic torch.

The BSoD message begins with the following sentence: "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."

Usually, the only way to remove the BSoD is to restart your computer pressing the Ctrl+Alt+Delete buttons at the same time.

Help Our Veterans Vote

WHAT is the secretary of Veterans Affairs thinking? On May 5, the department led by James B. Peake issued a directive that bans nonpartisan voter registration drives at federally financed nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and shelters for homeless veterans. As a result, too many of our most patriotic American citizens — our injured and ill military veterans — may not be able to vote this November.

There are thousands of veterans of wars in Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf and the current campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan who are isolated behind the walls of V.A. hospitals and nursing homes across the country. We have an obligation to make sure that every veteran has the opportunity to make his or her voice heard at the ballot box.

Bills that would require the department to repeal the ban have been filed in both houses of Congress.

Thousands returning home after massive Toronto fire

Up to 13,000 Toronto residents are returning home after they were forced to flee a massive fire at a propane facility. A Toronto firefighter died near the scene of the blaze, and an employee at the plant is missing.

Bob Leek, a 25-year veteran firefighter, was surveying an area close to the fire at Sunrise Propane Industrial Gases when he died.

"Every effort was made to resuscitate him. However we do regret to inform everyone that we did lose one of our members today," Division Chief David Sheen told reporters late Sunday afternoon.

"It was not a traumatic injury; he wasn't impacted by anything. It was just in the course of him performing some operations that he went down," said Sheen, who personally knew Leek, a district chief of emergency planning.

Dan Ronen, a spokesperson for Sunrise Propane Industrial Gases, said he had no idea why fireballs erupted from the plant early Sunday morning, triggering the fire.
