Tommy's talking turnaround again — and still, an initial public offering.

Two years after Apax Partners acquired Tommy Hilfiger for $1.6 billion, Fred Gehring, the company's chief executive officer, today will unveil financial results for the year ended March 31 that trumpet a 23.9 percent surge in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to 268 million euros, or $377 million at average exchange, on sales that grew 14.4 percent to 1.34 billion euros, or $1.88 billion.

Despite a sagging stock market and a slowdown at retail on both sides of the Atlantic, 2008 is shaping up to be the year of the fashion initial public offering.

Tommy Hilfiger Group may well be the first to take the plunge, with industry sources saying its planned IPO is on track for the first half of the year. Hilfiger is expected to be followed by Prada, which, if it goes ahead this time, will likely wait until the second half. Ferragamo also has unveiled plans to go public this year, and is expected to elaborate on them later this month.

Industry sources here said Hilfiger's IPO is on track to take place on Euronext, the pan-European stock exchange that counts LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, PPR, Hermès, Christian Dior and Clarins among its listed companies. The flotation is expected to value the American sportswear company at $3 billion to $4 billion.

Tommy Hilfiger to Sell Exclusively at Macy’s

Designer Tommy Hilfiger and Macy’s have partnered in a deal in which the designer will agree to sell his biggest clothing lines only at Macy’s.

The deal has ramifications that could shake the department store industry, and is a vindication of sorts for Macy’s, a company which said, following its rough merger with May Department Stores in 2005, that the merger would give it leverage to ink many such deals, writes The New York Times.

One benefit of the merger of Mays and Macy’s was the scale, which could potentially give Macy’s the ability to persuade manufacturers to sell products exclusively at Macy’s.

Terry J. Lundgren, chief executive of Macy’s, says he is working on several additional exclusive agreements.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Many fur or fur-trimmed jackets sold in the United States as having "faux fur" -- or not labeled at all -- are actually made, at least in part, from dog fur, the Humane Society of the United States said at a Capitol Hill news conference Wednesday.

Out of 25 jackets that it tested, the group said, 24 were incorrectly labeled. In many cases, it said, tests showed the fur came from raccoon dogs, a fox-like nocturnal residents of Asian and northern European forests that bear a remarkable resemblance to raccoons.

It said it had bought the jackets in the United States from a variety of department stores, including Macy's, Burlington Coat Factory and J.C. Penney. Designers and brands included Sean John, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, it said. Most of the jackets tested were labeled as coming from China. (Watch Humane Society spokesman explain where the fur comes from )

The Hunt for the Eye Dolls was created to spread awareness and heavily hype the MTV Video Music Awards in Japan last month. To do this, they created a scavenger hunt all over Tokyo where interested fans were to seek and discover EyeDolls. Each EyeDoll is a free ticket to the Music Awards and each EyeDoll had additional prizes depending on its color. The most special EyeDoll is silver, and this one gives the lucky finder a walk on the Red Carpet with all the music stars at the Video Music Awards.
