How Blogging and Social Networking Can Impact Your Job Search

Employees have been fired when their employer construed their blog posts as sharing confidential information, making inappropriate comments about the company, or both. Posting company news, pictures, and even making positive comments about a company have cost bloggers their jobs.

How about job seekers? Can having a blog, a personal web site, or an account on a social networking site impact your job search, for better or for worse? It could. One blogger posted recently that he lies in interviews. That wouldn't thrill a prospective employer if they knew about it. Another job seeker's blog mentions that she loves to party all night, drinks to excess on a regular basis, and steals on occasion. Again, not a profile that would thrill most employers.

If it's on your resume, the employer will look at it.

Mars rover Opportunity is leaving Victoria Crater, and it's exiting the way it came in. Put on your 3D glasses and behold the new tracks beside the old:

Graphic artist Patrick Vantuyne created the anaglyph by combining left- and right-eye images from Opportunity's navigation camera.

"Making stereo images of Mars has become almost routine for me, but it's still a thrill to see something new in 3D, which is hardly visible in a single picture," says Vantuyne. As an example, he notes the clouds in the upper-right corner of the anaglyph. Gaze for a while into the sky and watch the fluff emerge: full-size image.

No individual gold has mattered so much to so many people in the history of Olympics. It was a medal for Abhinav; it was redemption for India. Never again will anyone be able to point a smug, sardonic finger and say: "No Indian is good enough to win an individual Olympic gold."

this is the first time that an Indian has won an individual gold since modern Olympics started in 1896.

It looks at first like any other shuttered storefront near the boardwalk: some garish lettering and a cartoonish invitation to a delight or a scam — in this case there’s SpongeBob SquarePants saying, “It don’t Gitmo better!”

11 feared dead on K-2; 2 Dutch climbers rescued

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — A helicopter plucked two frostbitten Dutch climbers from K-2 on Monday after an avalanche and exposure left at least 11 people presumed dead on the world's second-highest mountain. I personally love theme parks and have been to some of the best: Disneyland, Six Flags, Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, Raging Waters, California Adventure, Busch Gardens, Universal Studios California, Palisades Park, and Astroworld... and the biggest of them all - Las Vegas!
But if you like sci-fi or adventure thrillers pick up Dream Park by Larry Niven and Steven Barnes (or the 4 or so sequels), Utopia by Lincoln Childs, or Futureworld by Phillip J. Farmer. You will love them!
