forgotten. They are memories writ in pencil, never made
permanent. But some events provoke an emotional response. In
these moments of joy or sadness, terror or surprise, the body is
flooded with stress hormones released by the adrenal glands,
which are located above the kidneys. This is part of the ancient
"fight or flight" response. Hormones like adrenaline wash over
the amygdala – an almond-shaped portion of the brain that
processes emotion, most notably fear. Adrenaline tells the
amygdala that what's happening at that moment is worth
remembering, that this is a memory to be writ in neurological
                ink.

When we look at other religiously motivated domestic terrorists, like Eric Randolph (who bombed both the Olympic Park and an abortion clinic), we don't accept religion alone as a motivation. It's just not enough to explain how an American would look other Americans in the face and then end their lives

If we write Hasan off as nothing but a religious zealot, we're missing the bigger picture

This shooter wasn't some mysterious other or foreign power. Not a big well-thought-out plot centrally directed from a “safe haven” in South Asia and undertaken by brilliant covert operatives, but the desperate violent act of a clearly disturbed individual. It’s going to be very hard to prevent this sort of thing. As long as the United States remains a country in which firearms are widely available"for the foreseeable future, in other words"we’re going to be unusually vulnerable to mentally ill spree killers of various kinds, including spree killers who nod in the direction of Islamist thinking.

But the larger point is that while these incidents are serious crimes and major tragedies for the victims, they hardly rise to the level of a major macro-level social crisis. They’re certainly not a first-order national security threat. And even put in the lower-stakes context of violent crime in America

Clip Source: americanpowerblog.blogspot.com

Thirteen people were killed and 29 wounded during Nidal Malik Hasan's jihadi rampage at Fort Hood. President Obama spoke today, and the PowerPoint transcripts of Hasan's Army doctors' lecture have been made available. He may well be free again someday. We can only hope that he does not get a hero's welcome when he arrives in some terror-sponsoring country, the way the Lockerbie bomber did.

A recent study by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights showed that, after the housing boom and bust, blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asian Americans and American Indians all reduced their subprime mortgage loans. Only politicians seem not to have learned anything from the economic disaster ...

Clip Source: townhall.com

If politicians stopped meddling with things they don't understand, there would be a more drastic reduction in the size of government than anyone in either party advocates.

(Deuteronomy, for example, prescribes stoning to death for those who “served other gods and worshipped them.”) The problem is the radical element that uses the Quran as an excuse to engage in terrorism and the failure of many moderate Muslims to condemn the extremists.

Clip Source: www.newsmax.com

FBI: 10% of U.S. Mosques Preach Jihad

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 12:09 PM

By: Ronald Kessler

Imams preach jihad and extremism in 10 percent of the 2,000 mosques in the United States, the FBI estimates.

That sums up the problem facing us as we ponder the meaning of Army Maj. Given his association with a pro-al-Qaida imam in northern Virginia and his preoccupation with radical Islamic Web sites, it’s clear that the radical element of Islam influenced Hasan.

On the other hand, those who condemn Muslims in general because of the actions of Hasan and others like him are engaging in prejudice that has no place in America. and extremely wealthy man, Marcus

Licinius

Crassus,
wanted to rule Rome. Just to give you an idea of what
sort of man Crassus really was, he is credited with
invention of the fire brigade. But in Crassus' version,
his fire-fighting slaves would race to the scene of a
burning building whereupon Crassus would offer to buy it
on the spot for a tiny fraction of it's worth. If the
owner sold, Crassus' slaves would put out the fire. If
the owner refused to sell, Crassus allowed the building
to burn to the ground. By means of this device, Crassus
eventually came to be the largest single private land
holder in Rome, and used some of his wealth to help back
        Julius Caesar against Cicero.

<clipSource>http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/ARTICLE5/index.html</clipSource>
