"Colocamos um material totalmente novo na bateria", explica Alex Pang, principal pesquisador responsável pelo estudo, que levou mais de quatro anos para ser concluído.

Quando as baterias de íons de lítio geram curto-circuitos internos, elas podem rapidamente se aquecer e chegar aos 932 graus centígrados, consequentemente emitindo faíscas ou explodindo.

A coming-on-middle-aged street vendor projects her madness and history of abuse onto (mostly) unsuspecting, sleazy men — and cooks up a storm. Surprisingly good reviews greeted this gory Thai drama, which is right up there with Hong Kong’s The Untold Story (八仙飯店之人肉叉燒包) as a boundary-pushing, gag-inducing Asian incarnation of Sweeney Todd; it’s also a perfectly timed essay for people who think US beef is the sign of the Devil. Abstruse political subtexts (it’s set during student riots in the 1970s) and class and gender commentary ... or blood, guts and torture for their own sake? Take your pick. Taiwan’s censors have let this one through without cuts, though it isn’t clear if this is the version originally banned in Thailand. Either way, here’s the question: Why doesn’t Taiwan make movies like this?

A new solar industry report shows that global PV production in 2008 reached 6.4 GW – an increase of 60% from 2007. China and Taiwan are emerging as world leaders with collectively 40% of the world market share.

Yes, it look like this moment was never going to come but it did. After 5 years of fighting, the cobra tubes are available. They have already arrived to some countries like Japan and Taiwán and others will receive them in the next weeks.

We made this display Packaged for shops and they come with 3 different colors of valve caps.

We´ll make a video soon explaining the faster way to mount them but meanwhile here is some instructions that we made for the boxes. It shows the best way to mount them in case you have a brake. If you don´t use a brake, it´s so easy that don´t even need explanation…

It all started when Tsai began to work in a hospital many years ago. A native of Taiwan, she was trained in Japan in the art of shiatsu massage. So while working at the hospital, "I started to put my hands where they hurt," she says. Tsai began regularly giving massages to cancer patients, until one day, about 26 years ago, she massaged a patient with MS. It was then and there that she first heard about the bike ride and decided to participate.

"In Taiwan, riding a bike is very common," explains Tsai's grandson, Alan Sim, who also participates in City to Shore -- 2009 was his sixth year. "So she grabbed her little one-speed bike and was doing the ride."

And why the nice dress and high heels? Tsai says that's just her normal biking outfit.

"I went to church, so I always dressed up and would ride my bicycle," she says. "So that's why I do it that way -- I do it that way naturally. That's the way I ride my bike."

Amidst the sea of jerseys and bike shorts at New Jersey's City to Shore -- a 150-mile bike ride to benefit multiple sclerosis research -- one unlikely rider stands out.

A tiny 84-year-old woman wears a neat, green turtleneck dress and an embroidered jacket. On her feet is a pair of high-heeled pumps. Her salt-and-pepper hair peeks out from the helmet that indicates she is, in fact, a participant in the bike ride. Her old-fashioned one-speed bicycle is purple, with a large wire basket on the front that carries her belongings and her number for the ride.

Lan Yin Tsai doesn't give the impression that she could go five miles on that bike, let alone 150. But that's what she's done -- for the past 26 years.

over the years, she has become a symbol of hope and determination for City to Shore participants and MS patients.

"I always try to tell people, whatever you can do, keep doing it, keep doing it," she says. "And that's why I do MS. When I start something, I don't want to just quit."

Also, there is one major organisation in the world that has both China and Taiwan in it – The Asian Development Bank. When China applied for membership, they demanded that Taiwan be kicked out. I designed the strategy that would get China to join and keep Taiwan in, and, 25 years later, that’s still the case.

A "breathing chair" designed by Yu-Ying Wu, a graduate from the Department of Industrial Design at the Taiwan-based Tatung University, was submitted to the international "red dot design award" design competition and won the home furniture design concept award. Wu is scheduled to receive the award next month in Singapore, according to the report by Taiwan-based United Daily News (UDN).

從這些找的到的資料看來，台灣必須在WTO的架構下和美國談判牛肉進口事宜。如果台灣要拒絕特定牛內臟，必須能拿的出科學證據以及研究報告，不然可能被WTO認為設下貿易壁壘。今天美國不來扣關，明天加拿大(另一個危險控制中的國家)也可能來向WTO訴諸仲裁。到時候不是被裁定必須開放牛肉進口，就是台灣必須退出WTO。對於依靠輸出的台灣來說，離開WTO恐怕就是末日的到來。

政府基於對WTO的承諾，不能不開放美國牛肉及內臟進口，但是只要民眾不吃牛內臟或甚至美國牛肉，就沒有商人會進口這些國人有疑慮的產品。網路上有人建議政府每個月公布商人或個人進口美國牛內臟的數量和日期資料，我相信這樣一來沒有人有興趣做這筆生意。

政府在WTO架構下沒有選擇必須開放美國牛肉內臟進口

最近在台灣，美國牛肉及內臟開放進口似乎又成了一個熱門話題，不過好像網路上各部落格有不少錯誤的說法。讓我來收集一下各方面的資料，在這一篇我先收集一些有關貿易的規定，以後有空再來寫美國人吃甚麼不吃甚麼。

在AIT和TECRO簽訂的文件中，詳細的定義了有顯著危險的部分(Specified Risk Materials, SRMs) 以及機器去骨肉品( Advanced Meat Recovery, AMR) Products。基本上台灣開放30個月以下牛的所有可食用部分進口，但是不可以包含SRM，同時AMR不可以包含超過30個月的牛。這樣是否安全，我不是獸醫畜牧方面專才，不過這似乎是國際貿易組織(World Trade Organization, WTO)下屬世界動物健康組織(World Organisation for Animal Health, OIE)的建議。

眼尖的網友會指出日本限制美國進口的牛肉不能超過20個月大，所以台灣和美國簽訂的約定比日本和美國的寬鬆，這代表政府沒有盡到應該的責任。事實上，日本學者山下一仁在他的一份研究報告中指出每一個國家都可以基於主權，設定適當檢疫標準保護國民健康以及國內農產品安全，但是這可能被認為是蓄意設定的貿易壁壘，因此1994年世界貿易組織達成了全球統一的有關進出口衛生檢疫的協定。簡單的說，一個國家如果沒有科學證據設下一個過高的檢疫標準，就可能被WTO認定設下貿易壁壘。日本的20個月標準和OIE的建議不符，除非日本政府能做到有關進出口衛生檢疫協定的三個條件之一，美國可以向WTO提起仲裁要求。

仁的研究報告中也指出，因為美國目前被世界動物健康組織列為危險控制中(Controlled BSE Risk)的國家，任何接受美國牛肉進口的國家都必須接受各種年齡的牛，包括30個月以上，只要SRM已經移除或是30個月以下的牛隻，更不用說台灣(Chinese Taipei)目前和美國一樣都是危險控制中的國家。換句話說，政府和美國簽訂的約定完全依照WTO及OIE的規定，說喪權辱國是言重了。不管國民黨或民進黨執政，都沒有太多選擇

African elephants could be extinct in – 15 years

With approximately 38,000 African elephants being killed each year for their tusks Samuel Wasser of the Scientific American Journal calculates that the current elephant population of 600,000 will be gone within 15 years.

At the rate that the elephants are being killed by poachers for their ivory the remaining animals can’t give birth to new offspring fast enough to offset this massacre. In 2006 there was 11 metric tons of illegal ivory seized from ships headed to Taiwan and Japan.

The Zakouma National Park

in Chad had 3,885 elephants in 2005 but by 2009 that number had been decimated to a total of 617. As well 11 park rangers were killed by the poachers in the same period of time.
