Since campus academic enrollment exceeds the capacity of on-campus housing, the University is in the process of adding more resident halls, most of which will be suite-style. Some students as a result live in popular off-campus housing, including apartments at College Suites, RiverSide Estates/University Commons, The Wilshire House at Union Station, Whaley's Mill, Granby Mill, and Sterling University; houses in the Shandon, Rosewood, and Olympia areas of Columbia; and off-campus housing provided by Greek organizations.^[14]

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Mortar shells slammed into Somalia's capital on Wednesday as insurgents vowed to intensify attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Somalia already sees near-daily explosions of bloodshed, and thousands of Somalis — most of them civilians — have been killed since Islamic fighters began an Iraq-style insurgency in December 2006, after they were driven from power in Mogadishu and much of the south.

Wednesday's violence was the worst since Aug. 21, when four hours of fighting outside the presidential palace killed 12 people and injured 17 others.

"If we die while fasting for the sake of Allah, we will go to heaven," a 26-year-old Islamic fighter, Abdi Yusuf, told The Associated Press by telephone. "So there is no reason why we shouldn't intensify the fighting."

He said the Ramadan attacks do not violate the Quran because his fighters are battling "enemies of Allah."

Lieberman: 'Country matters more than party'

Senator Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential nominee eight years ago, turned his back on his longtime political home tonight and heartily endorsed Republican John McCain and his style of bipartisanship.

"I'm here to support John McCain because country matters more than party," Lieberman told the GOP convention. "I am here tonight for a simple reason: John McCain is the best choice to bring our country together and lead our country forward. And dear friends I am here tonight because John McCain's whole life testifies to a great truth: being a Democrat or a Republican is important. But it is nowhere near as important as being an American."

Lieberman said that Obama has no record of bipartisan accomplishment or standing up to Democratic interest groups, and he joined in the defense of McCain's running mate.
