I try not to let the MSM's agreed-upon national news narrative upset my plans to have a good time, but many more times than not, I find the mass stupidity of so many putatively smart people, marching in unison to a destination that invites--nay--allows no logical point of entry. If you read today's Note, which is how I submit myself to this torture in as short and relatively painless form as possible, you can find any number of literally nutty notions.

Take a look at whom they cite when it comes to evidence of this supposed disunity: other journalists.

Each offers evidence that is either purely editorial and unsourced, or sourced anonymously.

But loyalty is not unlimited and so, after the May elections - or more particularly after the obvious refusal of Gordon to apologise to Labour voters and supporters for the mistakes he'd made which led to May's fiasco - I decided he had to go.

State Senate President Richard J. Codey wants the state attorney general to investigate New Jersey public school educators who receive taxpayer-funded raises after getting bogus online degrees.

Codey cited a story published Sunday by the Asbury Park Press, where Freehold Superintendent H. James Wasser said he did not understand why his $2,900 doctorate in education from unaccredited Breyer State University was a source of controversy.

Wasser told the Press that, "The only thing I would probably do differently, is now that I am aware of this word 'accreditation,' I would probably thoroughly research that."

"Herein lies the perfect example," Codey said in a prepared statement, "of why our administrators should receive degrees from accredited universities to save us the embarrassment of having educational leaders who are unaware of such qualifications to begin with. At the very least this is stupidity; at the worst, it may be criminal."

The Obamessiah has largely coasted on such things as his lucrative association with known crook Tony Rezko and with terrorist Bill Ayers. McCain has pretty much let those issues die, much to Republicans’ chagrin, and they were, as of today, in the past.

Byron York noted today that he got six e-mails from either the Obama campaign or the DNC on the same subject before noon. He also lists sixteen events around the country today on the subject and here’s the breakdown of who was heading them up: eleven state legislators, two sitting Governors, and one former US Senator, along with various local Obama groups.

There are plenty of better ways to attack John McCain than to make fun of him personally and to attack his integrity, something he protects fiercely.

In today's encore excerpt--the U.S. outlaws the manufacture, transport, and sale of alcoholic beverages under the Volstead Act (1920-1933), more commonly called Prohibition. Against expectations, Prohibition resulted in even greater levels of alcohol consumption in America and it was repealed in 1933. Unless said girls have no cocks, which of course means I clearly meant 'rock out with their vaginas out.' The course is supposedly an examination of stupidity "... ranging from the presidency to Beevis (sic) and Butthead (sic)." They don't name the president but we're going to guess it's not Lincoln. Also, right away we're doubting the quality of a course that wants to teach you about stupidity but manages to spell Beavis and Butt-Head wrong. These guys may know stupidity, but apparently they don't know Google.

The description slaps together a bunch of absurd academic jargon to try to legitimize the whole operation, with phrases like "Stupidity is neither ignorance nor organicity, but rather, a corollary of knowing..." or our other favorite, "Stupidity is always the name of the Other, and it is the sign of the feminine." Is there some kind of college course random word generator they use for these things?

Occidental College is a liberal arts college in LA. The Princeton Review has it on its list of The Best 361 Colleges, otherwise known as The List of All the Colleges in the U.S.

Nasser’s blunder cost him the Sinai in the Six-Day War. Saakashvili’s blunder probably means permanent loss of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

After shelling and attacking what he claims is his own country, killing scores of his own Ossetian citizens and sending tens of thousands fleeing into Russia, Saakashvili’s army was whipped back into Georgia in 48 hours.

Vladimir Putin took the opportunity to kick the Georgian army out of Abkhazia, as well, to bomb Tbilisi, and to seize Gori, birthplace of Stalin.

American charges of Russian aggression ring hollow. Georgia started this fight—Russia finished it. People who start wars don’t get to decide how and when they end.

Just a few weeks ago, predictions of Arctic ice collapse were buzzing all over the internet. Some scientists were predicting that the "North Pole may be ice-free for first time this summer". Others predicted that the entire "polar ice cap would disappear this summer".

The Arctic melt season is nearly done for this year. The sun is now very low above the horizon and will set for the winter at the North Pole in five weeks. And none of these dire predictions have come to pass. Yet there is, however, something odd going on with the ice data.

The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado released an alarming graph on August 11, showing that Arctic ice was rapidly disappearing, back towards last year's record minimum. Their data shows Arctic sea ice extent only 10 per cent greater than this date in 2007, and the second lowest on record....
