Why does my child need a specific shoe made for a specific sport to do a specific thing?

If you can't give the answer to that question than I can tell you right now that you child will probably end up with some sort of injury playing that particular sport in which he or she has the wrong shoe for.

Lets look at 3 reasons why your child needs to have the right shoe.

1) support - Without the proper support an injury to the ankle is just about a given. It will only be a matter of time before the injury happens without the proper support and stabilization of the ankle.

US authorities have announced a recall of 1 million baby strollers made by Britain's Maclaren, saying they posed a risk of "fingertip amputation" to young children.

"Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed," the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.

The Chinese-manufactured strollers' hinge mechanism "poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller", the commission said.

The firm has received 15 reports of children placing their finger in the stroller's hinge mechanism, and 12 reports of fingertip amputations in the United States.

The recall involves all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers. They have word "Maclaren" printed on the stroller and included models Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.

The products sold from 1999 until this month for between $US100 and $US360.

The Juvenile Fillies horse race at the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., Nov. 6.

More than a half-dozen trainers who have been accused of doping their horses participated in this year’s Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., to compete in 14 races worth more than $25.5 million in purse money. Some of these trainers have been cited for multiple and serious drug violations; indeed, some have been barred and suspended from the sport for periods of time. But none of these punishments have deterred trainers from doping their animals.

What should horse racing officials in the U.S. do to prevent this kind of abuse of horses? And what should be the penalties?

To equate the use of drugs in horse racing with the “abuse of horses” is misleading. And it is misleading when Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg tells Congress that modern thoroughbred racing has become “chemical warfare.”
