Pa-lin!" came the chant at a Colorado Springs rally on Saturday moments before Republican nominee John McCain took the stage with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a woman who was virtually unknown to the nation just a week earlier. The day before, thousands screamed "Sa-rah! Sa-rah! Sa-rah!" at an amphitheater outside Detroit.

In the short time since McCain spirited the 44-year-old first-term governor out of Alaska and onto a national stage as his running mate, Palin has become an instant celebrity. And since her speech at the Republican National Convention, watched by more than 40 million Americans, she is emerging as the main attraction for many voters at their campaign appearances.

The excitement with which people are turning out to see Palin could complicate a key line of attack that the McCain campaign has been building against Democrat Barack Obama for months.

Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.

UPDATE I: I just spoke with the person at Invesco who found the flags and he thinks both sides are exaggerating a bit. The person claims the majority of the bags with flags in them were near the trash, on a dock, and would have been thrown away. The person thinks it was probably an “oversight” by the Democrats rather than any nefarious plot against the flag. But the person doesn’t believe anyone was coming to get them: “The flags were there for a week and a day and no one came looking for them.”

http://blogs.denverpost.com/opinion/2008/09/06/republican-recycling/

Clip Source: exurbanleague.com

Thousands of flags from Obama's r<STRIKE>evival meeting</STRIKE> <STRIKE>coronation</STRIKE> acceptance speech were destined to for recycling (or worse) before a worker at Invesco Field rescued them from the trash heap.

Doing such actions to the symbol of this country is worse than burning it in protest. Casually discarding ia flag like a used Kleenex belies a offhand indifference to what the flag stands for that is stunning to comprehend, and goes far beyond buring a flag as a protest. At least when you burn the flag, it's for a reason, and while I myself will never, ever burn a flag for any reason, if you decide it's a reasonable way to demonstrate for your cause, do so. But don't try to dodge what comes next, when others will get upset that you're burning something for which people have literally died for. Civil disobedience that breaks no laws is not civil disobedience.

Clip Source: exurbanleague.com

Tags: dnc denver, invesco field worker, american flags, rubbish bins, mccain and palin campaign, colorado springs

<clipSource>http://exurbanleague.com/2008/09/06/itd-be-better-if-they-burned-them.aspx</clipSource>

pictures of convention day

clipped by: silvanaraihane
clipper's remarks: even though I am not political, thought these would appeal to my political buddies on here!

Clip Source: news.bbc.co.uk

Her Limbaugh-style sass was likely to make the conservative base all the more enthusiastic, which has indeed happened. But it held the potential of mobilizing an opposite, larger base of people who had been tepid about Obama but didn't like the tone, beliefs, or qualifications of Palin - or, more important, who were concerned about what this last-minute selection revealed about McCain's deliberative process and weighing of risks.

Tags: biden, palin

<clipSource>http://www.bloglines.com/myblogs_display?sub=73860123&site=11142096</clipSource>

We are here because we love this country too much to let the next four years look like the last eigh

clipped by: Clipseyker
clipper's remarks: Quote by Barack

Clip Source: www.quotationspage.com

Journalists are being raided at the Republican National Convention and they continue to support the party that encourages such behavior. Don't they see the connection? Are they going to wait until they are personally affronted? It will be far to late if it isn't too late already. What they need to do is start speaking out, buy a video camera to record incidents like this, and let others know. The Republican Neocons are monitoring your response and when they see you pull the covers over your head, they will attack us all.

Newsweek Mar 2007 reported that 80% of Americans claim to be Christian. If this is so, where is the light, where is truth, where is hope in any degree compared to what your Lord brought? If you said you follow the god of darkness I would believe you.

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

During the spring of 2006, graduating senior Brittany McComb was chosen to give the valedictory speech at Foothill High School in Henderson, Nev., by virtue of achieving the highest GPA in the school. After composing her remarks, she submitted them to school administrators according to standard district policy. School administrators, with the advice of their district legal counsel, censored her speech, deleting all three Bible references, several references to "the Lord" and the only mention of the word "Christ."

Tags: media, fascism, police state, church

<clipSource>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqzfIitfHjU</clipSource>

Free Speech Graveyard at the Democratic National Convention

clipped by: Maxwell_Smart
clipper's remarks: "...if you are able also to become free, rather do that...do not become slaves of men." 1 Cor 7:21-24

"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery." This year, however, Democrats face the embarrassing possibility that they will be the only party actually caging dissenters. Yet as John W.
