For some of us, it just means dark circles under our eyes and a desperate need for triple-caffeinated products. But the reality is that over the long haul, trouble with sleep can cause bigger problems.

For some people, the answer might be to just buy some. Yes, sleep has now joined the ranks of those products we at one time thought we would never have to pay for, like water.

Spas across the country have now added this new nap therapy to their offerings, so along with facials, waxing and massages, you can now grab some Z's for about a dollar a minute.

Years ago, the thought of paying money for a bottle of something you could get for free from the tap would have had people laughing. Now we can add sleep, or, more accurately, napping.

While people from across the country and the world - from as far away as Jordan in the Middle East - have been coming to Kerr House and its spa for almost three decades, it's not particularly well-known to those of us living in Northeast Ohio.

Yet just 2½ hours from Cleveland in Grand Rapids, Ohio, is one of the country's finer destination spas. Owner Laurie Hostetler has been honing her craft - as innkeeper, yoga teacher and spa provider - in this mansion for 28 years.

She opened the spa in 1980, at a time when there were fewer than 20 such places in the country. It's an unusual one, too, in that the maximum number of guests at any one time is eight, providing a far more intimate experience than most spas.

During my weekend visit, there were four of us: me, a woman from Chicago who'd been visiting for 22 years, and the mayor of a nearby town and his wife, neither of who had ever been to a spa before.

Sound Fishy? "Doctor Fish" Used for Pedicures

Fish being used to do pedicures? Well, what will they think of next?

You might have heard of fish that scavenge or pick parasites off of other fish. There are even some who mimic such scavenger fish but end up taking a huge bite out of a "patient" instead.

Garra rufa, AKA the reddish log sucker, has been used in Turkish spas to treat psoriasis patients, but here we have a less medical and more hedonistic use. The fish, which are toothless, are being used in pedicures.

Doctor Fish Massage has two locations using their services; both are outlets of Yvonne Hair, Nail, and Tan Salon. It's unclear if there's an affiliation here or not.

Doctor Fish Massage is also searching for investors (naturally).

In total, it offers more than 1ha of accommodation, mostly on three floors, including two-storey reception rooms, presumably where the Mugabes can entertain their many friends, and an office suite, presumably where Mugabe can hang his seven university degrees.

To further protect his presidential person, underground steel and reinforced concrete bunkers have been built.

A monument to the enema, a procedure many people would rather not think about, has been unveiled at a spa in the southern Russian city of Zheleznovodsk. The bronze syringe bulb, which weighs 800 pounds and is held by three angels, was unveiled at the Mashuk-Akva Term spa, the spa's director said Thursday.

"There is no kitsch or obscenity, it is a successful work of art," Alexander Kharchenko told The Associated Press. "An enema is almost a symbol of our region."

The Caucasus Mountains region is known for dozens of spas where enemas with water from mineral springs are routinely administered to treat digestive and other complaints.

Kharchenko, 50, said the monument cost $42,000 and was installed in a square in front of his spa on Wednesday. A banner declaring: "Let's beat constipation and sloppiness with enemas" _ an allusion to a line from "The Twelve Chairs," a famous Soviet film comedy _ was posted on one of the spa's walls.

In the latest wrinkle in the never-ending game of oneupmanship between the major lines, Norwegian says it is pioneering the concept of ship-based Botox, Restylane and Perlane facial treatments in the Mandara-operated spas on its vessels. The treatments are being rolled out on the Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Spirit to start, with plans to launch fleet-wide this fall.
