Rocket Racing League

The Rocket Racing League is a proposed racing league that would use rocket powered aircraft. The formation of the league was announced by Granger Whitelaw two time Indy 500 winning team owner and Peter Diamandis, founder of the Ansari X-Prize, on October 3, 2005, in partnership with the Reno Air Races. According to Diamandis, the purpose of the league is to "inspire people of all ages to once again look up into the sky and find inspiration and excitement."

More than a dozen people said they saw it -- the big bright lights in the January skies over Stephenville, Texas. It was unlike anything they'd seen before.

The lights reconfigured into different formations several times, he said.

"Then they burst into a flame, a very unusual bright white flame," he said. "Two or three seconds of that, and then it simply disappeared."

Former military air traffic controller Paul Colcleasure said he also saw something remarkable that night.

"I honestly don't know what to think it was. I know what it wasn't," he said. "I've seen pretty much every military aircraft you can think of in the dark, and these lights were -- just the scale of the lights, the size -- not anything I can conceptualize."

In the nine months since, those lights still have not been identified.

Hundreds of galaxy clusters are flowing toward the same spot in the sky beyond the observable universe, a University of Hawaii astronomer and NASA team members have discovered.

The clusters, each with hundreds of millions of stars, are moving at more than 1 million mph toward the constellations Centaurus and Vela, said Harald Ebeling, co-author of a paper on the baffling finding in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.

"It's pretty bizarre," he said in an interview.

Ebeling said the "main culprit" behind the phenomenon seems to be the Shapley Concentration, a giant supercluster made up of about 25 galactic clusters about 700 million light-years away which pulls everything toward it.

But once the clusters reach the Shapley supercluster, he said, they do not subside or reverse -- they defy current cosmic theories and keep on going.

Savasana

Between in and out
is a place I want to go.
So I listen and breathe,
feel the air ripple and shimmer
till I pause,
and a space opens,
and I open too,
like a flower,
knowing where it roots,
how its branches spread,
why its petals smell like lavender.

with only scent of lavender

Good to know the "fear-mongering" about Bush and martial law is still taking place among Democrats, though. The aircraft has features like spas, casinos, gyms, bedrooms, and duty-free shops. Some airlines also plan to fix staterooms with beds, showers, a water feature, a double-width staircase between decks, and luxurious, book-lined club-style bars.

No it is not a luxury hotel room! This is a first class seat bed on board the first Airbus A380 superjumbo.

I went to the kitchen to fetch a nice diner and then I realised it had stopped raining. Even better... the sun tried to show up!

In the Netherlands that is the right moment to look to the sky, to see some nice clouds...

Washington robber rolling in dough on the river

MONROE, Wash. - A man sprayed an armored car driver with pepper spray, grabbed a bag of money and escaped via inner tube down a river in Washington state.

Police spokeswoman Debbie Willis says the driver was robbed late Tuesday morning while leaving a Bank of America branch in Monroe.

The robber grabbed a money bag and ran about 100 yards to a creek that runs into the Skykomish (sky'-KOH'-mish) River.

One witness reported the man floated off on an inner tube. Another said he swam to an inflatable raft that may have been made from an inner tube.

By the time police arrived, he had floated away.

Willis says investigators believe the man could have been picked up by accomplices at a nearby boat launch or park.

Nature on my balcony!

When I got home that night from work, mom was gone, but the babies were cuddled together on my balcony. Not sure what to do, I consulted my neighbor, but since she was as dumbfounded as I was, I decided I would try to put the little ones back in their nest.

As I went to reach for them, one of the two flew off. I finally caught the other one, being as gentle as could, and returned her to her home. Sort of relieved, I went in to relax. When I came out later to water my plants, the one little one was still there. I ran out of water, so I returned to the source of water, my kitchen. When I came out just seconds later, the last of my tenants had taken flight.

I checked to be sure that she was not below my balcony, maybe have fallen over. Once I was reassured that she had actually flown away, I looked onto the early evening sky and smiled.

This young Mourning Dove started to nest in my potted plant on
Wednesday, July 1st, 1998.

clipper's remarks: This new app is a great way to brainstorm ideas whilst on the go. I use this to and from work so I can plan lessons or produce essay plans for students. Most mindmapping software available on the PC can be expensive. This app allows you to edit the app only on the iPhone but when e-mailed as a PNG furthur editing can take place on the home PC or Mac. This is more limited but it does me that the mind-map can be shared and titled. A PDF export function is great for ensuring your ideas are not altered by others. This app has strong editing features and its userface is clear and simple. Whilst the cost is a little higher than I would hope, there is no denying its functionality. It can be used by students planning out their essays and by staff working out their lessons, schemes of work and building resources
