But in fact, the report methodically described a carefully limited and, with a few exceptions, faithfully implemented program of enhanced interrogation techniques - techniques that yielded what the report itself deems valuable results.

The report also details the exceptions, cases in which interrogation techniques were used that were outside the carefully developed regime.

But here is the crucial fact for Holder: All of the allegations of unauthorized methods - all of them - have already been carefully evaluated by career prosecutors. These were legal officials who, unlike Holder, do not owe their jobs to any partisan political figure.

the Attorney General's charge is upholding the rule of law - the glue that holds together a self-governing people.

In the latest skirmish in the Democratic Party's war on the CIA, Attorney General Eric Holder has failed to uphold this fundamental public trust. And for that, there should be consequences.

Earlier this week, on the same day that the administration released a six-year-old report on terrorist interrogations, Holder announced he is appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the CIA officials who conducted the interrogations.

We know from long experience, of course, that special prosecutors in Washington quickly become self-justifying.

To rationalize their existence, they must find people to prosecute, and find they do.

So Holder is tasking his lawyers to prosecute the men and women who worked - successfully - to keep America safe since September 11, 2001.

Or is it?

Even Major winters (band of brothers) and real time hero didn't climb the ladder that fast. And what is worse is he really believes people fall for his crap. Only wish he was in when i was in, Being a door gunner in nam i am pretty sure we would of took him up to about 300 feet and he would of accidently fell out of the huey.

Missing Texas Soldier Found and Arrested After Possible Kidnap Ruse

There is no sign that a missing Texas soldier now in police custody was ever kidnapped for ransom as his family claimed, the Army said Thursday.

There are no indications that Gonzalez was abducted, Grey said in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press. Law enforcement officials in Laredo were interviewing Gonzalez Thursday, and Grey said he'd be turned over to the Army's custody later that day.

Pfc. James Gonzalez, 24, was arrested Wednesday night after being found unharmed, said U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command spokesman Christopher Grey.

He is facing new charges of being absent without leave, the source said Thursday.

A source who says he knows Gonzalez said Wednesday that the GI is "disturbed," had recently been bragging about a promotion to lieutenant and to major, was spotted driving a new Mercedes and boasted he'd bought a big house in Laredo, Texas.

Survey Confirms: Bing Will Bomb

Analysts are positively gushing about Microsoft's Bing. Initial Comscore numbers showed a pop in Bing traffic! Some observers have gone so far as to suggest that Bing will usher in a whole new era in the search war between Google and Microsoft.*

First, there isn't a search war between Google and Microsoft. Google won what little skirmish there was about 5 years ago, and Microsoft has been gradually surrendering its last remaining territory ever since.

Second, of course traffic to Bing has increased! People are naturally curious, especially given the $80-$100 million ad campaign. Why wouldn't people check it out?

Third, yes, Bing has added some cool innovations, but nothing that Google can't and won't copy immediately.

Don’t mess with the kangaroo. Perhaps better known for their Olympian jumping capabilities, these marsupial bruisers – which can reach almost 7 feet tall and weigh 200 lbs – are also the boxing champs of the animal kingdom. The kangaroo’s fighting skills include forepaw jabs, grappling, and their own unique style of kickboxing. Yet punches to the face are the least of their opponents’ worries; the real threat lies in a powerful kick of their hind legs, which can cause serious damage.

Luckily for kangaroos, their bellies are protected by a thick layer of skin, but other foes of these formidable animals are not so fortunate. Dogs have been known to get on the receiving end of this belligerent beast’s special treatment, caught by the roo’s forepaws and raked with its hind legs. So too have men – notably in 1936 when a hunter was killed as he tried to free his dogs from a skirmish – and yet on some occasions you can’t say we haven’t been asking for it.

Asked about the voting in Iran, Barack Obama said, “Ultimately the election is for the Iranians to decide. You’re seeing people looking at new possibilities. And whoever ends up winning the election in Iran, the fact that there’s been a robust debate hopefully will help advance our ability to engage them in new ways.” For someone who sees false choices everywhere, he sure was snoozing on this one.

Obama’s was a depressingly bad answer. For what does this now say about America’s attitude toward Friday’s insult to democracy? Does the American president really believe that the Iranian public decided the outcome?

THE ROAD TO PATCH 1.3 (PART ONE)

We’ve been busy! Dawn of War II is going to get a big patch in early May. This is the first of a series of posts where we will talk some details about what to expect in the update. As a bit of a preview, here are just a few things you can look forward to in the patch.

• We are adding a Two-on-Two game mode, with two new four player maps.
Two-on-Two is a ranked game mode with leaderboard support.
• An improved, more challenging Skirmish AI.
• Push to talk voice chat and Company of Heroes style sub-selection options.
• New squad decorators and significant UI improvements.
• A performance test to help measure Dawn of War II performance.

Over the next week we’ll be talking into detail about some of these additions right here. Keep an eye on this space as we post new information.

NEW YORK – A Somali teenager arrived to face what are believed to be the first piracy charges in the United States in more than a century, smiling but saying nothing as he was led into a federal building under heavy guard.

Handcuffed with a chain wrapped around his waist and about a dozen federal agents surrounding him, the slight teen seemed poised as he passed through the glare of dozens of news cameras in a drenching rainstorm. His left hand was heavily bandaged from the wound he suffered during the skirmish on the cargo ship, the Maersk Alabama.

Ron Kuby, a New York-based civil rights lawyer, said he has been in discussions about forming a legal team to represent the Somali suspect.

Texas State board to hear testimony for, and against, evolution

The next skirmish in the long-running dispute about the teaching of evolution in Texas public schools is set for Wednesday.

That’s when scores of people, including six appointed curriculum reviewers, are expected to testify before the State Board of Education on a proposal for the next decade’s science curricula.

Today is the deadline to sign up to testify.

Scientists, educators and advocacy groups say creationists are trying to water down science education by calling for students to study the "strengths and weaknesses" of scientific theories such as evolution.

Educators removed the "weaknesses" phrase in the first draft of the science curriculum. After a public hearing in November that attracted more than 200 speakers, the phrase was put back into the second draft with the word weaknesses changed to limitations.

The third and final draft says students should be able to "analyze and evaluate" scientific explanations.

Live By The Race Card, Die By The Race Card

Taking to the podium at the end of a bizarre, shambolic press conference in which Governor Rod Blagojevich sought to appoint Roland Burris to the US Senate, Congressman Bobby Rush dared white Democratic senators to block a black man from joining their ranks. ...As he left the room, Blagojevich echoed Rush, saying: "Feel free to castigate the appointer but don't lynch the appointee."

So now, Reid will have to either accept the legal nomination of Burris or fight a battle to keep Burris out--a nice racial skirmish that Dems have been loathe to nut up on before. Blago looked around and saw that he was quickly shunned by the party establishment so he decided to telling them to screw themselves and go about his duties.

Blago is the best thing to happen to conservative commentators since the primaries.

One thing you can always count on is this: whenever the Democrats win, they will instantly fall into disarray and get nothing done. Think Nancy Pelosi's Congress or Harry Reid's Senate.

The latest incident involves the Blagojevich Senate selection to replace Obama. Here we are, less than three weeks from the inauguration and all anyone is talking about is the Blago scandal and Illinois politics--well, that's the grownups who are actually covering politics, the "big media" (I.E. The Washington Post) are embarrassingly salivating (and that's the dudes) over Obama's pecs or printing clear Palestinian propaganda so they really don't count.

Blago selected a man who has has some success in elections, is a black man and seems to be qualified to succeed The One. He did this after Harry Reid and the Senate told him not to. Of course, no one cares what Harry Reid says so I didn't expect Blago to cede his authority to the shady man from Vegas. Instead, Blago not only selected Roland Burris

The skirmish over Christmas in Washington state just gets funnier every day.

Now someone wants to put up a Festivus pole in the capitol. That's hilarious enough, but it gets better.

The Westboro Baptist Church has demanded to be allowed to put up a sign that says, "Santa Claus will take you to Hell". I never thought I'd laugh at Fred Phelps and his gang of hateful loonies, but there you go.

We aren't done yet! Bill Donohue of the Catholic League has to butt in and bray, too.

Gov. Gregoire is responsible for this mess. Having first acceded to the requests of atheists to attack Christmas, she is now confronted with the likes of the Westboro Baptist Church, a viciously anti-American, anti-Catholic and anti-gay group.

How about keeping the government entirely secular, throwing all the Christmas kitsch out of the capitol, and admitting that government has no business promoting any religious beliefs at all?

Shots fired in US-Pakistan clash

The United States military says US and Afghan forces have exchanged gunfire with Pakistani troops across the border with Afghanistan.

A senior US military official says a five-minute skirmish broke out after Pakistani soldiers fired warning shots near two US helicopters.

No one was hurt in the incidents and the US maintains its troops did not cross the border from Afghanistan.

Cross-border action by US-led forces has angered Pakistan in recent weeks.

The latest incident took place along the Pakistani border with the eastern Afghan region of Khost, an area which is a hotbed of militant groups.

Forces from the US-led coalition and the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) patrol the frontier, but Pakistan has been angered by reported US operations across the border in pursuit of insurgents.

A BBC correspondent says the border between the two countries is very unclear and in effect is marked by a 3km-4km (2-2.5 mile) stretch of no-man's land.
