The National Weather Service has predicted that the Santa Fe River near Fort White will rise to at least 27.4 by Sunday. The river is currently above flood stage in this area. A flood warning has been issued. People with interests in this area should monitor the latest forecasts.

A flood warning is in effect for the Aucilla River at Lamont. The river is currently cresting at 2 feet above flood stage, and is predicted to fall below flood stage on Monday (9/1).

The National Weather Service has predicted that the Santa Fe River at Three Rivers Estates will rise to near 17 feet on 8/31. Flood stage is 19 feet.

All river forecasts are provided by the National Weather Service, as needed during times of high water. Flood stages and predicted levels are reported in feet above mean sea level. All persons with interest along the rivers should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. Do not drive through flooded areas.

In its final few months, the Bush Administration is attempting to gut the Endangered Species Act. This time, it's a proposal to allow federal agencies to decide unilaterally that a proposed project is not likely to adversely affect listed species — no consultation with wildlife experts required. The proposed rule would replace the current requirement that federal agencies must consult with biologists at the Fish and Wildlife Service or National Marine Fisheries Service to ensure that an agency's actions do not jeopardize the existence of a species or adversely change or destroy its habitat. DeltaCopy Server File Permission Fix

DeltaCopy Service is a wonderful rsync wrapper for windows OS use. The only problem I have come across thus far is file permissions. It seems that files are onle given access to the service user and that includes the system account if selected.

The Fix:

Add a windows system environment variable of "CYGWIN" with value "nontsec". Stop and restart the DeltaCopy Service and you should be in business. This fix will inherit folder permissions while granting the service user full permissions to the files and folders modified.

Biden's other son from his first marriage is scheduled to be deployed to Iraq in early October, an event the Obama campaign has factored heavily into its early October campaign schedule.

"Biden is very well aware that his son's deployment is going to be a big part of what we do in October. It's part of our narrative and we're going to milk it for all it's worth," says one of the Obama advisers. "Republicans would do the same."

Except that McCain hasn't made an issue of his son's service in Iraq. Who guessed that in this election, Obama would be the cynical one? (Well, other than conservative bloggers.)

In spite of the Democrats' plan, I think Biden's other son will end up getting far more attention.
