This summer, Kurtz made an appointment to review them and, after being assured access, was blocked from seeing them by library administrators, who stammered about needing permission from the “donor” — whom they declined to identify. Kurtz energetically raised public awareness to the stonewalling, and the library finally relented this week. That is, as Barack Obama prepares to accept the Democrats’ nomination tonight, the records of his only significant executive experience just became available for review on Tuesday.

Kurtz began his review, and on Wednesday was invited on Milt Rosenberg’s radio program to discuss it

The Obama campaign — which has emissaries appearing everywhere — declined Rosenberg’s invitation to have a representative appear on the program and respond to Kurtz’s factual assertions.

<clipSource>http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MmUwOTllNmMzZDNlMTljMGFmY2JkZTllYmQyOTY0ODY=&w=MQ==</clipSource>

10 Things That Increase Your Intelligence

clipped by: digitalfever

Clip Source: www.accrediteddldegrees.com

We’re often told that there are three styles of learning and that the way in which we learn new things can fall into one of three areas: Behaviorism, which is the process of learning through the observation of something else, or “seeing it”. Cognitivism, which focuses on brain-based learning and memory-related information. Finally, there’s constructivism, which is learning through “building” new ideas based on one’s own experience, or “learning through doing”. However, these are really just the three main philosophical frameworks from which all learning theories are derived. In reality, there are around 80 different learning theories with other theories branching out from those. This article aims to clarify and to look at in more detail, the ideas behind a number of the more popular and commonly talked about theories of how we learn and why.

Tags: 10 things, intelligence, learning, leftbrain, rightbrain

<clipSource>http://www.accrediteddldegrees.com/2008/10-things-that-increase-your-intelligence/</clipSource>

Anatomy of a Hit : The Dark Knight

clipped by: weBLiner

Clip Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com

Anatomy of a Hit: 'The Dark Knight'

New or refurbished hospitals, rehabilitation centers and nursing homes increasingly come equipped with "healing" or "therapeutic" gardens where patients and staff can get away from sterile, indoor surroundings. Many also offer patients a chance to get their hands dirty and their minds engaged in the nurturing work of plant care. "It really is a national movement," says Teresia Hazen, coordinator of a pioneering therapeutic gardening program at Legacy Health System in Portland, Ore. Maybe that's why illusions involving eyes are so compelling.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. This fact is why we ask people to look us in the eye and tell us the truth. Or why we get worried when someone gives us the evil eye or has a wandering eye. Our everyday language is full of expressions that refer to where people around us are looking. Particularly if they happen to be looking in our direction.

As social primates, humans are very interested in determining the direction of gaze of other humans. It’s important for evaluating their intentions, and critical for forming bonds and negotiating relationships. Lovers stare for long stretches into each other’s eyes, and infants focus intently on the eyes of their parents. Very young babies look at simple representations of faces (such as smileys) for longer than they look at similar cartoonish faces in which the eyes

have been scrambled.

<clipSource>http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=illusions-the-eyes-have-it&sc=WR_20080826</clipSource>

rejection

clipped by: angiepants85

Clip Source: www.chaosmatrix.org

Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I
regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me
an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually
large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field
of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in
rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at
this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor
in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Chris L. Jensen

Board of Ed which most people don't understand because [TEETH FLASH] he taught Brown in his law school course and [TEETH FLASH] Mr. Chairman I'm going to get right to it and besides these aren't the droids you're looking for..

Welcome to the Dark Side...

Clip Source: corner.nationalreview.com

He says interesting things, from time to time. I think he makes a fair point here and there. He was correct, for example, that Congress needed to have a real deabte over the war. I think he has some obvious verbal intelligence. But, again, what's fascinating — and what might be distracting some folks from seeing his underlying-yet-occassional smarts — is that he lets his ego and vanity get in the way. The man loves his voice so much, you'd expect him to be following it around in a grey Buick, in defiance of restraining order, as it walks home from school. He seems to think his teeth are some kind of hypnotic punctuation marks which can momentarily disorient the listener and absolve him from any of Western civilization's usual imperatives to stop talking.

<clipSource>http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MDY2YmY5NTg3MDVkYzQ1YTIwY2NlMzU2Mzg1OTFjMmE=</clipSource>
