First off, let’s give Caribou Barbie some credit: She showed up and was rather feisty. But her demeanor made me think she was going to end her speech by saying, “I’m Tracy Flick and I’d be so honored and super-grateful to get YOUR vote for Student Government!”

The tone was much like her hometown: small and cold. While bitchiness is a definite plus at my dinner table (and the one thing I’ll miss most in Heaven), it isn’t very becoming in national politics. There’s a difference between being spunky and being snarky, being able to inspire and being able to get a laugh.

I suspect when voters weigh a candidate’s abilities, the best substitute for competency won’t be sarcasm. After all, they don’t call it mocking the vote. Because Leadership-by-Put-Downs hasn’t worked well for our current president and seems oddly suited to someone trying to pass herself off as being full of optimism, faith and fresh ideas.

clipper's remarks: Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag.
But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on.
But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training.

JUST TELLING OUR KIDS TO "DON'T DO IT" DOES NOT WORK!

Guess what folks, teaching abstinence-only to young adolescent teens fails in all the studies except the ones conducted by the abstinence-only advocates. Isn't that a shocker? Well, to anyone with a few brain cells, that was a given. From the very beginning, when Bush and his followers rejoiced and couldn't wait to hit us over the head with their abstinence-ONLY asinine program.

It was a great act—but it was an act, a one-shot show. Palin will have to keep it up for the next nine weeks, when there won't be time to practice or the opportunity to sand down that line to keep it from sounding small and mean. This is a test Obama has already passed. And her sarcasm will wear thin quickly. Reagan could do it because he was a sunny optimist offering a vision of the future. Palin didn't do much of that, other than by offering platitudes (hey, she had a lot of ground to cover).

Spoons are so last year. Who has time to find a clean one, lift your hand, swirl your wrist to mix in sugar with your tea or coffee, tap the spoon dry or lick it and then place it back on the plate? I mean really, are we animals!? No, most of us are not. So that is why Florian Dussopt, Jérémie Reneau & Julie Girard got together and created the “Ceramix For Mix” saucer and cup design. All sarcasm aside, this is a elegant and simple design. Incorporating a molded glass groove (resembling a roulette wheel) that acts as a track for a ceramic ball as well as keep you from choking to death on it, the user is inclined to swirl the cup using centrifugal force to mix your beverage. I applaud the design and am still pondering its need over my premixed vanilla latte.

You see, my medical education had a few gaps. I was unfortunate enough to do my training during the last couple of decades, which means I never saw measles, pertussis, polio, and many other vaccine-preventable diseases.

Well, last year, I saw three cases of pertussis! Sweet! And it looks like, if I play my cards right, I may get to see some measles.

If I were in charge of awards for medical education, I'd give you one. But, alas, I'm not. I guess we'll have to find some other way to honor all your hard work, education, and expertise. I mean, my four years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, and 3 years of residency can't hold a candle to your experience as a Mommy Warrior. I wish we could just bottle that. Or perhaps isolate it in northern Idaho.

Here's proof, if proof were needed, that the McCain campaign's advertising strategy is in fact being run by a crack team of six-year-olds, out of their minds on Sunny Delight.

Yesterday they released a new ad, Fan Club, which continued to mock Barack Obama as a celebrity, this time on account of his "dreamy eyes".

It included a brief clip of Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in Wayne's World ("We're not worthy!") -- but Myers objected, claiming copyright violation, and the ad was reissued without the clip.

But wait for it: in this killer response, headlined Celebrities Fight Back, a McCain spokesman explains why Myers's objection just proves the point they were making all along:

"Obama's celebrity friends are bringing their considerable resources to bear in this election... threatening this campaign with legal action over our latest ad, Fan Club... Apparently, we are not, in fact, worthy."

Jenna Jameson has claimed that she will never spread her legs for the porn business again, but nothing is stopping her from pulling out her giant boobs for a horror movie! She found an acting job that doesn't require her to do what she usually was doing in the past. Instead, she plays a zombie stripper in a movie called, well... "Zombie Strippers".

It's supposedly inspired by the French existential Theatre of the Absurd play Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Blu-ray just in time for Halloween.

WASHINGTON — The death penalty is unconstitutional as a punishment for the rape of a child, a sharply divided Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.

The 5-to-4 decision overturned death penalty laws in Louisiana and five other states. The only two men in the country who have been sentenced to death for the crime of child rape, both in Louisiana, will receive new sentences of life without parole.

The court went beyond the question in the case to rule out the death penalty for any individual crime — as opposed to “offenses against the state,” such as treason or espionage — “where the victim’s life was not taken.”

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, writing for the majority, said there was “a distinction between intentional first-degree murder on the one hand and non-homicide crimes against individual persons,” even such “devastating” crimes as the rape of a child, on the other.
