Questions about the legitimacy of a postgraduate degree received by current Freehold Regional High School District Superintendent James Wasser has a high-ranking state official demanding answers.

At issue is a doctoral degree received by Wasser and fellow current and former FRHSD administrators from an unaccredited school known as Breyer State University.

Responding to the controversy, state Senate President Richard Codey recently called for a crackdown and investigation in what he called "diploma mill" incidents. He asked school superintendents guilty of attaining the questionable degrees from unaccredited online colleges or universities to return any salary boosts they may have received because of them.

Last week, Codey, D-Essex, sent letters to both state Attorney General Anne Milgram and Department of Education (DOE) Commissioner Lucille Davy requesting an investigation of school administrators who obtain degrees from unaccredited colleges.

<clipSource>http://howelltimes.micromediapubs.com/news/2008/0830/front_page/002.html</clipSource>

The Value of Money

clipped by: sahara
clipper's remarks: George Washington was paid a salary of $25,000 a year from 1789 to 1797 as the first president of the United States. The current salary of the president has recently been doubled to $400,000, to go with a $50,000 expense account, a generous pension and several other benefits. Has the remuneration improved?
Making a comparison using the CPI for 1790 shows that $25,000 corresponds to over $585,000 today, so the recent raise means current presidents have an equal command over consumer goods as the Father of the Country. When comparing Washington's salary to an unskilled worker, or the measure of average income, GDP per capita, then the comparable numbers are $11 and $24 million. Granted that would not put him in the ranks of the top 25 executives today that make over $200 million. It would, however, be many times more than any elected official in this country is paid today.

Clip Source: www.measuringworth.com

Determining the relative value of an amount of money in one year compared

Don’t be in a rush to accept the first offer. This offer is usually
the employer’s first and lowest offer.
2. Negotiate from a position of professional strength. In other words,
what value you can bring to the table for the company. Do not
negotiate from a position of personal need or greed — things you need
for yourself.
3. Be inclusive and employer-centered by referring to “we” rather than the
more self-centered “I.”
4. Remain positive and enthusiastic, as well as incorporate a win-win
perspective, when negotiating elements within the compensation package.
5. Don’t play deceptive games, such as lying about your salary history or
stating you have an offer pending from another employer when in fact
you don’t.
6. Use time and silence to your advantage.

Tags: jobs, salary, career

<clipSource>http://www.hrworld.com/blog/20080825/negotiate-that-salary/</clipSource>

Does Ben Bernake Have A Part-Time Job?

clipped by: BartendingBear
clipper's remarks: You'd think the Chair of the Federal Reserve could make a go of it on his salary.

Clip Source: www.whitepages.com

The ease with which Blackpool council castigate and humiliate the elderly, the ill-educated and the vulnerable is better than legend.
There is something drastically wrong within the system if vulnerable people are harangued in the way they are, while insiders hide their evil duplicity under a welter of needless accusations against innocent residents.
£6000.000 tells the truth.
The mass majority of council workers are conscientious and honest individuals. This situation can only arise because the average, decent employee cannot use their common sense. They are hen-pecked with stupid regulations and abeyance of political correctness. If the top hierarchy of the Finance Department were really held accountable and dismissed, the position replaced by a competent clerk on a reasonable salary, then the problem would be solved

Clip Source: www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk

£600,000 theft probe from Blackpool Council

A TOWN hall worker has been charged over allegations of stealing more than £600,000 from Blackpool Council.

Mother-of-two Cathryn Wiles faces 25 allegations of theft in relation to £617,000 paid out in benefits.

It follows an investigation into so-called "ghost" payments of allowances to foster families who do not exist.

It is believed the charges relate to alleged offences committed over a number of years.

What has been described as a "robust" internal inquiry is now underway, a Blackpool Council official confirmed.

Tags: blackpool, council, corruption

<clipSource>http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/blackpoolnews/600000-theft-probe-from-Blackpool.4396823.jp</clipSource>

pay equality

clipped by: kathleenjoy

Clip Source: jezebel.com

Forbes reports (via MSNBC) that when calculating the cash pulled in by male CEOs of America's largest companies, the average take, including salary and bonuses, for all 500 CEOs was $12.8 million — double the female average of $6.5 million.
