According to Ailes, Obama wanted to know if he would get a "fair shake" from Fox. Ailes told the Washington Post he replied, "Senator, you're the one who boycotted us. We're not the ones who boycotted you. Nor did we retaliate for your boycott."

Clip Source: townhall.com

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is finally breaking his boycott with Fox News and will appear on Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor" for an interview that will air during the GOP convention Thursday night.

In the interview, Obama backtracks on previous criticism of President Bush's decision to send a "surge" of 21,000 troops to Iraq. “I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said, according to early excerpts of the interview “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”

He graduated from Davidson College in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, and he taught briefly in Kenya before embarking on his career as a journalist.

He became a nationally syndicated columnist, and in 1991 he became director of speechwriting for President George H.W. Bush.

Snow had his colon removed and underwent six months of chemotherapy after he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2005. In 2007, he announced that his cancer had recurred and had spread to his liver. He resigned from the White House weeks later and was replaced by his deputy, Dana Perino.

After taking time off to recuperate, Snow joined CNN as a conservative political correspondent early this year.

Snow is survived by his wife, Jill, their son Robbie and their daughters Kendell and Christie.

Clip Source: www.foxnews.com

A syndicated columnist, editor, TV anchor, radio show host and musician, Snow worked in nearly every medium in a career that spanned more than 30 years.

Snow joined FOX in 1996 as the original anchor of FOX News Sunday, and hosted Weekend Live and a radio program, The Tony Snow Show, before departing in 2006. A sometime fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh, Snow said he loved the intimacy of his radio audience.

"It's a tremendous loss for us who knew him, but it's also a loss for the country," Roger Ailes, Chairman of FOX News, said Saturday morning about Snow, calling him a "renaissance man."

As a TV pundit and commentator for FOX News, Snow was often critical of President Bush before he became Bush's third press secretary in 2006, following Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan. He was an instant study in the job, mastering the position — and the White House press corps — with apparent ease.

Tags: tony snow, white house press secretary, syndicated columnist, editor, tv anchor, radio show host, fox news sunday, roger ailes, fox news chairman

<clipSource>http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,381250,00.html</clipSource>

Photoshop of Horrors: The Frightful Faces of Fox News

clipped by: dulios
clipper's remarks: Click on the link to see the slide show!

Clip Source: www.vanityfair.com

Photoshop of Horrors: The Frightful Faces of Fox News

Sean Hannity unifies his brow.

Last week, Media Matters pointed out that Fox & Friends, the Fox News program hosted by Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, had aired doctored photos of two New York Times reporters who had dared to write semi-critically of Roger Ailes’s right-leaning cable network.

in the interest of fairness (and balance), VF.com has commissioned an expert in the dark arts of malevolent retouching to imagine what the famous faces of Fox News might look if they ever had the misfortune of crossing Roger Ailes.

Tags: fox news, humor

<clipSource>http://www.vanityfair.com/online/politics/2008/07/photoshop-of-horrors-the-frightful-faces-of-fox-news.html</clipSource>

The "Dark Genius" of Fox News

clipped by: ratilfar
clipper's remarks: "To me, that's the smoking gun if you're looking for evidence that Fox News is as much a partisan political machine as a news organization. I think TVN is a great piece of evidence in that whole puzzle. And Joe Coors played the role of Rupert Murdoch in that. Basically, Ailes learned how to run a national news service. He learned how to get stories to deadline, he learned how journalists work the news, but most importantly, he learned from Coors and his associates, people like Jack Wilson, how to try and manipulate the news product. Because the Coors people, they wanted a conservative news service, they were frustrated they couldn't get that because it turned out the reporters they hired were too professional."

Clip Source: www.salon.com

Why a book about Roger Ailes?

I couldn't believe that no one had written a book on him yet. He's been such a central figure for so long. And you see biographies and analyses of other figures in media and politics but not on him. So I said, it was past time to look at his career. I just thought he'd make a great character study.

I do think that he's been very political for the last four decades beginning with Nixon. The incredible shrinking candidacy of Fox News' favored son, Rudy
Giuliani.
C) The still-standing candidacy of Fox News nemesis and
well-funded, anti-war GOP candidate Rep. Ron Paul.
D) The Democratic
candidates' blanket refusal to debate on Fox News during the primary
season.
E) Host Bill O'Reilly being so desperate for an interview from a
Democratic contender that he had to schlep all the way to New Hampshire, where
he got in a shoving match with an aide to Sen. Barack Obama and then had to be
calmed down by Secret Service agents.

G) The fledgling Fox Business Network, whose anemic ratings are in danger of

"It's going in the right direction," he assured us, jollily. But apparently Mel is painting a rosy picture. In today's Post, Michael Riedel reports that Brooks and the Frankenstein crew are panicking because lead actor Roger Bart's back problems are going to prevent him from taking the stage in most performances.

He has a talented understudy, but Riedel's source (someone ridiculously nicknamed "Deep Abby Norman") says that producers are looking for a more famous lead. Eddie Izzard and Hugh Jackman have both been mentioned. We're guessing, though, if he happened to ask Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes at the FBN party for their thoughts, they'd have given the same advice we will: Pick whoever is the hottest.

Tags: eddie izzard

<clipSource>http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2007/10/mel_brooks_hiding_concerns_abo.html</clipSource>

Fox News The Media Judas Goat for America's Sheep..!

clipped by: TJColatrella

Clip Source: www.alternet.org

MediaCulture: Economist Paul Krugman on how the right-wing media machine is destroying social progress.

Tags: bush, fox news, murdoch, roger ailes, wolf blitzer, tim russet, hannity, o'reilly, cavuto

<clipSource>http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video/66260/</clipSource>

Liberal Content-YouNeed to Know

clipped by: davboz
clipper's remarks: TonySnow deserved cancer,Hitler was a better man than President George Bush, “John McCain Fucked by the Republican Fantasy,'Overly Patriotic' Americans Are Hateful Filth-Spewers,“the unteachable ignorance of the red states; history is filled with people who have used hateful words to enrich themselves and to destroy others; Americans aren’t nice or decent people, They do harm, and they like to do harm; true patriotic red, white, and blue Americans like hate; they are so ignorant and poorly brought up and fearful and pandered to by haters in the media that they don’t even hear themselves disgorging sewage from their mouths;Believers in “Dictator Christ” Want Dictator Popes or Presidents; He may be called “Pope”, he may be called “the decider President,” he may be called “televangelist,” but the title only masks what he is, a benevolent (or not so benevolent) dictator; willingness to give Bill Clinton oral sex "just to thank him for keeping abortion legal" ;“What is it about South Dakota

Clip Source: www.mrc.org

Today the Media Research Center released an

It remains to be seen how the channel will position itself. Some observers have suggested that Fox might take a more Main Street approach to business news than the financial-market focus of CNBC. Either way, the acquisition of Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal would provide the fledging network with instant street cred. As CNBC awaits the arrival of the competing network, it has been adding distinctly Fox-like flourishes to its programming, such as the "Keeping America Great" tagline it uses to introduce some of its stories. - Louis Hau

Clip Source: biz.yahoo.com

FOX Business Network (FBN) will launch on October 15, 2007,
