Scientists probing the Earth's interior have found a large reservoir of water equal to the volume of the Arctic Ocean beneath eastern Asia. The left figure is a slice through the Earth, taken from the figure on the right, showing the attenuation anomalies within the mantle at a depth of roughly 620 miles. In both images, red shows unusually soft and weak rock believed to be saturated with water, and the blue shows unusually stiff rock (yellow and white show near-average values)

Water covers 70 percent of Earth’s surface and one of its many functions is to act like a lubricant for the movement of continental plates.

Nu ma pot plange de sunetul Eat me, drink me, desi versurile au reusit sa ma dezamageasca nitel, dar, spre incantarea si deliciul meu, The High End of Low e pus rele, nu mai vorbim de frustrare sexuala si amoroasa dar de good-old-fucked-up-Jim care te-ar scuipa in ochi daca ti-ar trece prin cap sa-l pupi in fund pentru nu stiu ce merite te-ai gandi sa-i atribui.

James Franco, From ‘General Hospital’ to ‘30 Rock’

A feature film star going to soap opera, James Franco will hop on one more wagon to star on “30 Rock“. Entertainment Weekly has reported that he will follow up his “General Hospital” stint with a guest star appearance on the primetime Emmy Award-winning comedy. Unlike in the soap drama, his appearance on “30 Rock” is likely a one-time stint.

NBC has not given its official statement regarding the casting but EW has provided a bit of information on how he would incorporate to the story. An insider said that Franco will play himself and he will be involved in a “faux romance” with Jane Krakowski’s Jenna, a courtesy of their respective agents.

Back in September, writer slash star Tina Fey has hinted this kind of storyline, telling EW, “[Jenna gets] into a high-profile relationship with a movie star that is arranged by their agents.” The plan is, Franco would start filming his part this week.

Famous for the Twelve Apostles and historic shipwrecks, Port Campbell National Park contains the most significant areas of vegetation and fauna native to south-western Victoria. The diverse range of coastal environments includes woodlands, dunes, wetlands, coastal cliffs, limestone stacks and arches.

The Twelve Apostles are stacks are made of rock formed up to 20 million years ago, and are created by the sea gradually eroding the soft limestone cliffs. The coast is slowly changing and there are frequent small rock falls. There are also infrequent major events, the most recent occurred on Sunday 3 July 2005 when a large stack collapsed. The before and after photgraphs, taken by a visitor who witnessed the collapse, are shown below.

The Dark Church (Karanlık Kilise) at the Göreme Open Air Museum, is carved straight out of the soft volcanic rock peaks that the Cappadocia region of Turkey is famous for. We previously wrote about the history of Cappadocia here, but we didn’t mention the ancient art secreted away within the many rock churches of the area. The Dark Church was named for the low amount of light that penetrates the interior, and thanks to this moody low lighting, has some of the best preserved frescoes in Cappadocia.

Mr. Wood, a 79-year-old Boston architect, bought the house with his ex-wife Joan in 1961 for $3,600. It had been empty for two decades. Clingstone had been built by a distant cousin, J.S. Lovering Wharton. Mr. Wharton worked with an artist, William Trost Richards, to create a house of picture windows with 23 rooms on three stories radiating off a vast central hall. The total cost of the construction, which was completed in 1905, was $36,982.99. However, bear in mind that the currency in 1905 is not the same as for now. Possibly the price is estimated about $4 millions.
