But food is making a case for itself this year.

Riots and protests over food prices have broken out in 30 countries since 2007. Haiti’s prime minister was tossed out of office in April, largely because of protests over the price of food, and the Malaysian government is looking none too stable for similar reasons. In South Africa, discontent over soaring food and fuel prices provided the spark for violence that killed dozens of illegal immigrants last spring. Even in the United States, wholesalers such as Costco limited the amount of rice each person could buy, unsettling some consumers. It’s possible that the most consequential price spike of 2008 will be in food, not oil.

<clipSource>http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200809/food-scarcity</clipSource>

"Put a Kibosh to this Insane Plan"

clipped by: sahara
clipper's remarks: Ominously, these “ideas” hark back to Operation Northwoods, the JSC plan to stage a false flag terror event — or a number of events — designed to provide a pretext to invade Cuba and take out Fidel Castro. Such “ideas” included “friendly Cubans” attacking the U.S. base at Guantanamo, shooting down a drone disguised as a chartered civil airliner and blaming it on Cuba, inciting riots and staging terror attacks in Miami, and other terrorist acts. Fortunately, then Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, put a kibosh to this insane plan.

More recently, in January, 2003, in the lead-up to the Iraq invasion George Bush and Tony Blair discussed painting planes in United Nations colors “in order to provoke an attack which could then be used to justify material breach” and thus set in motion an invasion, according to Philippe Sands, a leading British human rights lawyer.

Clip Source: www.youtube.com

Clip Source: blog.puppetgov.com

In the video here, taped at the Campus Progress journalism conference earlier this month, the Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh reveals how the neocons convened around Dick Cheney and brainstormed ways to kick off World War III, as they fondly call their pet project to take out the Muslims and foment a contrived “clash of civilizations.”

According to Hersh, this meeting occurred after the neocons failed miserably to stage a rehashed version of the Gulf of Tonkin incident in the Strait of Hormuz, mostly because it is no longer 1964 and such Big Lies — thanks to the internet and bloggers — are far more difficult to float.

“For all I know, our Navy was shooting at whales out there,” quipped LBJ about the imaginary act of North Vietnamese boats supposedly attacking U.S. ships, leading to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution and undeclared war in Southeast Asia, ultimately resulting in the death of nearly 60,000 Americans and around 3 million Southeast Asians.

Tags: wwiii

<clipSource>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slgBrbNXrbs&eurl=http://blog.puppetgov.com/</clipSource>

test

clipped by: ronnyronsen
clipper's remarks: test

Clip Source: www.google.de

22. "We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get
along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation
safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty
to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time
to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny,
guilt ridden delusionals.

We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused
by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

It will add to pressure on governments in Washington and across Europe, which have turned to plant-derived fuels to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and reduce their dependence on imported oil.

Rising food prices have pushed 100m people worldwide below the poverty line, estimates the World Bank, and have sparked riots from Bangladesh to Egypt.

AFP news agency said riots had erupted on Saturday when the girl's uncle was pronounced dead in hospital after seeking justice for his niece.

It quoted locals saying he had been badly beaten - it is not clear by whom.

And then there were five … the Olympic mascots.

HONG KONG: Superstitious bloggers have linked China's earthquake
disaster and other recent misfortunes to the five Olympic mascots,
a Hong Kong newspaper reported

The five Olympic mascots are Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, Nini
and Beibei. Jingjing, a panda, is the animal most closely
associated with Sichuan province where the earthquake struck

Huanhuan, a cartoon character with flame-red hair, is being
linked by bloggers to the Olympic torch that has been dogged by
anti-China protests on its round-the-world tour

Yingying, an antelope, is an animal confined to the borders of
Tibet, which has been the scene of riots and the cause of
international protests against China, the bloggers say

Nini, represented by a kite, is being viewed as a reference to
the "kite city" of Weifang, in Shandong, where there was a deadly

Drill! Drill! and George Bush, perhaps with an eye towards the fuel riots going on around the world, jumps and proposes the new Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: 1) drilling offshore, 2) drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, 3) adding refineries, and 4) extracting oil from shale, which makes the Alberta Tar Sands look environmentally benign."

Clip Source: www.treehugger.com

Climate Change?
