The pure materialist atheism that is supported by such prominent atheists as Richard Dawkins, author of “The God Delusion” and developer of the theory of memes, lacks any morality and justifies the world’s worst atrocities. Often you may hear Dawkins and others telling people what they should and shouldn’t do, so let’s examine their moral credibility from their own principles.

Pure materialism rejects the existence of anything beyond matter and its interactions. When all events in the universe are reduced to the colliding of atoms, there’s no room for good or bad. These interactions are purposeless and irrational.

Because of this reductionism of everything, materialists argue that humans are the same as animals, thus taking away the dignity humans have.

Controversial cult leader Adnan Oktar, who is known for advocating creationism, concedes that Islam and Darwinism are compatible if evolution is seen as the work of Allah. Also, Oktar says he wants to make peace with well-known scientist Richard Dawkins, whose Web site Oktar claims insults his personality

It is possible to be a good Muslim and a Darwinist at the same time, one of Turkey's devoted supporters of creationism, who earlier defined Darwinism as a �deception of Satan,� said at a press conference Wednesday.

The statement may not at first sound extraordinary. However, it came from controversial cult leader Adnan Oktar, who wrote over 200 books under the pseudonym Harun Yahya to prove that Darwinism was the biggest enemy of humankind and that the theory of evolution was false.

It is possible to be a good Muslim and a Darwinist at the same time,� said Oktar, whose influence over a legion of young devotees peaked in the 1990s, at a makeover press conference Wednesday night.

A controversial creationist who successfully campaigned for Richard Dawkins' official website to be banned in Turkey has offered a multitrillion- pound challenge to scientists.

Adnan Oktar said that he has "issued a call to all evolutionists" that he will give "10 trillion Turkish lira to anyone who produces a single intermediate-form fossil demonstrating evolution" - a sum roughly equal to £4.4trn.

I had to look up the exchange rate. That's $8,010,890,000,000. Eight trillion, ten billion, eight hundred and ninety million dollars. I could live reasonably comfortably on that.

Instead, though, I'm going to suggest something that will help out the entire country. The US government should immediately send a plane to pick up Mr Oktar, bring him to our country, and take him on a guided tour of the Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History, accompanied by Niles Eldredge, Kevin Padian, Jerry Coyne, Sean Carroll, and the entire scientific staff of those museums.

It's been an action-packed week for anyone who enjoys a good old row between science and religion, faith and reason, the men in white coats and the ones in dog collars.

First we had physicists flicking a very expensive switch in their hunt for the God particle (although surely this is doomed to failure if they don't believe He exists).

Then Prof Michael Reiss, director of education for the Royal Society, claimed teachers should discuss creationism with pupils and that "banging on about evolution" didn't change the beliefs of the devoutly religious.

Next the Church of England decided to muddy the waters by saying sorry to Charles Darwin for criticising his theory of evolution.

Now Christian Voice, the evangelical group best known for leading opposition to Jerry Springer - The Opera, has tried to get in on the act by issuing a public apology to Britain's best-known atheist, Prof Richard Dawkins.

In a parody of the Church's letter to Darwin, it declares that it has decided to issue a posthumo

Professor Richard Dawkins takes a question from the audience regarding the evolutionary origin of religion and how religion could have been beneficial, Evolutionary speaking.

His answer is an interesting one and uses the moth as an example of another way detrimental actions could result as a byproduct of otherwise beneficial behavior . He says that like how the moth flies into candle flames as a byproduct of it's evolution produced guidance system, religion in humans could also be a byproduct of an otherwise beneficial trait, Like trusting and believing what we are told as children by grownups. There is no evolutionary benefit to moths flying into flames and killing themselves, Just like there is no evolutionary benefit to believing in invisible dictators, But there is an evolutionary benefit to the programing that produces those particular behaviours.

We already know that Turkish officials have a pretty quick trigger finger when it comes to banning certain websites. They've banned YouTube multiple times due to videos they found offensive, and then banned Slide, a multimedia hosting company as well. Still, it's a bit surprising to discover that now they've banned the website of Richard Dawkins after a Turkish creationist complained that the site had insulted him. Apparently, this guy, Adnan Oktar, has become quite successful at getting sites blocked in Turkey. In the past, he also got Wordpress.com and Google Groups blocked after he became upset at content found on both of those sites. And, even better, he claims he's not against free speech, he's just against insults. And, apparently, anyone who disagrees with him is insulting.

The emphasis on trying to prove the big bang theory could be interpreted as a swipe at religion.

Lord Robert Winston has renewed his attack on atheist writers such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and Christopher Hitchens, whose arguments he said were "dangerous", "irresponsible" and "very divisive".

The science populariser and fertility expert said that the more bombastic arguments of atheist scientists were making dialogue between religion and science more difficult.

"I would argue that the 'God Delusion' approach is actually very divisive because it is the one way surely of not winning over opposing views … Religious people can say, 'look these guys just don't understand us'."

"We need to be much more sophisticated in how we handle these problems in our society and I don't think the propositions of Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett and a number of other writers have really furthered useful healthy debate. I think actually they've limited it – that worries me"
