A residence and place of business, it stood on one of the busiest streets in medieval Southampton. Now restored to its mid-14th-century appearance by the removal of later additions, it is equipped with replica period furnishings. It stands near the medieval town wall, built to defend Southampton against seaborne attacks. Netley Abbey, Calshot Castle and Hurst Castle are all within reasonable travelling distance.

<clipSource>http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.001001001013007003009</clipSource>

pictures of the day september 2

clipped by: silvanaraihane

Clip Source: www.nytimes.com

Pictures of the Day, September 2

Bragg sued Linden, saying he legally owned the content he created in Second Life, including land and businesses. The suit was eventually settled, and Bragg's avatar was restored.

Authorities also have intervened in crimes committed in online worlds. In the Netherlands, for example, a teenager was arrested for stealing more than $5,000 worth of virtual furniture in a world called Habbo.

"This is such a nascent area when it comes to the law," said Sean F. Kane, a partner in the law firm Drakeford & Kane. "If a certain world allows you to be a thief, is it a crime or just an aspect of the game? Should real-world law apply?"

there is much thinking to do, involved...

Clip Source: www.washingtonpost.com

Virtual Worlds Get Real About Punishment

In the online community Cellufun, troublemakers found guilty by other users get their virtual alter egos placed behind bars. (Cary Torkelson)

Virtual worlds have often been called the digital equivalent of the Wild West, where animated alter egos can live in a fantasy frontier. Silkweaver
clipper's remarks: The study also showed that a partial restoration of Pet-1 function in the developing brain of females partially restored their serotonin levels, and maternal behaviour in adulthood.
The finding indicated that subtle changes in the embryonic formation of the brain serotonin system in females could impact the quality of the maternal care they later provide for their offspring.
The researchers say that future studies with Pet-1 deficient mothers may help to further elucidate the link between serotonin and maternal behaviour, and lead to the development of new therapeutic approaches for treatment of post-partum depression and child neglect.
<div border="2" style="margin-top: 10px; Didn't think much about it until I read this article

Clip Source: www.garden.org

Peat Moss in the Garden: Is it Sustainable?

Ponds in this restored bog are essential to the development of peat. (Photo courtesy of Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association)

Nothing is as simple as it seems. Case in point: peat makes a great growing medium that many gardeners rely on for everything from seed starting to amending garden soil. But there's concern that horticultural demands for peat could be endangering the natural peatlands. Gardeners typically want to be environmentally conscious. We wonder if we're contributing to the demise of peatlands. Should we continue to use a product that might damage precious natural habitats?

After researching the issue, I believe the harvesting of peat moss is approached with the right mix of commerce, conservation, and restoration. I will continue to recommend sphagnum peat moss as a soil amendment and use it in my own gardens.

Tags: environment, sustainability, moss, peat moss

<clipSource>http://www.garden.org/urbangardening/index.php?page=august_peat</clipSource>

The 9/11 Solution - RESTORED

clipped by: papananook
clipper's remarks: We find most of the videos we post to
Brasscheck TV, but occasionally we
find the time to make one.

This video has an interesting history.

Google took it down after three days
and over 17,000 views. YouTube blocked
us from posting it altogether.

Someone copied it while it was up
on Google and posted it to YouTube
Canada where it became the most discussed
video of all time in the "News and Politics"
category with over 500,000 views.

But now it seems to have been entirely
scrubbed from YouTube Canada.

Anyhow, somehow we have it back up on
Google Video.

Watch it while you can.

Somebody really doesn't like this one

Clip Source: www.brasschecktv.com

The Video Google Censored

Google took this video down after three days and then when I attempted to post it to YouTube it was rejected.

This video is an important companion piece to the video that I call "Inside Job" (see the Brasscheck TV archive.)

"Inside Job" shows that thousands of eye witnesses and millions of live TV viewers heard and heard about MULTIPLE explosions in the Twin Towers that preceded their sudden and inexplicable collapse.

"The 9/11 Solution" shows that even as the World Trade Center was burning and immediately after the collapses, a stream of disinformation laying down the key official 9/11 myths was being actively being put in place via the US mass media (i.e. the impact of the planes weakened the structures, the "intense" fires caused the collapses, Bin Laden was the only possible suspect.)
