You might be wondering how anyone could possibly plan to vote for Barack Obama, an arrogant but utterly unqualified, inexperienced extremist who has spent his entire life surrounded by unsavory fanatics who hate America. For Gary Kamiya, the answer is simple, as he explained earlier this year in Salon.com:

I admit it: I'm voting for Barack Obama because he's black. […] I believe that most of Obama's supporters are voting for him for the same reason. Like me, they're drawn to his idealism, his youthful energy, his progressive politics. But it's his blackness that seals the deal.

And that's OK. In fact, it's wonderful. […]

Obama's blackness is his indispensable asset. Without it, he would not have a snowball's chance in hell of being elected president.

That last sentence is certainly true.

Anyone noticed all the government, even CIA contracts, that Google has obtained lately? Consider how the "love of money is the root of all sorts of evil", and that surveillance and security merchandisers are driving the changes in government, globally, toward more totalitarian population control and that Google increasingly holds all the data and technological means they want.

The public image of Google should change based upon this and other evidence as it moves closer toward the globalist corporations and the fascism they are enabling and building by partnering with governments for revenue while the people's liberties are increasingly trampled and power becomes consolidated.

As you probably heard, on Monday -- that is, on a national holiday, when business announcements are almost never made -- Google rolled out Chrome, its new Web browser.

why would a company that knows it has a solid and newsworthy product on its hands intentionally dampen media coverage of it?

If Google pulls off this strategy, it will be the most valuable company on the planet. It will also be the scariest … and we should start worrying about that right now.

I have devised a few theories on why Senator Barack Obama is so strongly favored by people living outside the U.S.

First

foreign audiences perceive Senator Obama as giving them what they want -- a change in US policy.

Senator Obama is, plain and simple, not George W. Bush -- who, as we know, is hugely unpopular overseas.

To elect Obama would paint American society as mature and tolerant

if Americans in 2008 end up electing the candidate that foreign publics consider the "right" choice

Senator Obama's hybrid, international identity seems to magically appeal to people all over the world all at the same time

His international upbringing makes him into a chameleon, from which foreign publics can pick and choose with which "Obama" they identify most -- the perceived Muslim, Asian, or African Obama, etc.

How anti-press is the McCain campaign? They just canceled a Habitat for Humanity PHOTO OP. Because it has to do with "houses"? Go figure!

But another part of the reason McCain canceled the outing is because last night, his campaign went out of its way to slag community organizers, defaming them for not having any "actual responsibilities." Habitat For Humanity, as it happens, is one of the biggest brand names in community organizing -- they maintain a massive network of individual donors, are capable of mobilizing an equally impressive volunteer base to contribute labor to the cause, and have a global reach. It's not a bad idea at all to associate one's own brand with Habitat's. But after last night, I have to imagine that McCain would have found it difficult to face the community organizers of Habitat For Humanity.

A Palestinian non-government organisation in the United Kingdom has asked Paul McCartney of the Beatles to cancel his forthcoming concert in Israel because "the expropriations from the Palestinians (by Israel) and the Israeli apartheid cannot be a reason for festivities".

(PACBI) has affirmed in a statement directed to McCartney that "performing in Israel in this moment is morally the same as performing in South Africa at the peak of the apartheid".

StandWithUs, has rebelled in defence of Israel, affirming in a letter to McCartney and his manager Stuart Bell that the statement of PACBI "contains just incredible lies".

"Performing in Tel Aviv you can expect to meet an audience of Jews, Muslims and Christians, a thing which is just impossible in any Arab state," StandWithUs affirmed.

In the meantime the tickets for the concert of McCartney

are selling like hot cakes in Israel

Marshall University's recognition of Paganism has garnered media attention on a national level and abroad.

Paganism is a religious movement that consists of many different religions such as Wicca, the mystical traditions of Kabbalism, Native American shamanistic traditions and religions from the African Diaspora like Voodoo. Last year, Marshall recognized pagan holidays as a reason for excused absences, producing a great deal of interest.

"I conducted a search a few weeks after the articles hit and found that while there was some small negative response, the overwhelming response was very positive from people of all religions and none," said Marty Laubach, professor of sociology and faculty advisor to the Marshall University Pagan Association said. "The story was picked up internationally. It was seen as an example of American openness and religious pluralism."

Ocean and sea forts are few and far between and with good reason: only in fairly extreme circumstances is their expense deemed justifiable. Since being decommissioned, many of these have gained strange second lives as everything from luxury resorts and private retreats to micronations and pirate radio stations. It sounds extreme, but be honest: wouldn’t you want a sea fort of your very own?

Guy Maunsell is responsible for an amazing series of WWII army and navy sea forts, many of which still stand today. One of the most infamous of his navy sea forts has since been converted into a micronation named Sealand. Four navy forts (shown above) were pre-constructed and then arrayed off the coast of Britain to expand radar coverage and provide anti-aircraft fire with huge mounted guns. So how did they put them in place? The base pillars were carried out by barge and then the whole structure is sunk and filled with water.

The reason you have men going nuts over the site of breasts is because we (the USA) market market them for profit. By making it illegal just makes matters worse.. If it were legal like in Europe men would stop starring at breasts the way they do because they would be used to seeing them.. Now mind you if that were to happen it would also burn lots of women that use them for power in many situations too.. But I think all in all it would be a positive thing. And yes, I nude sunbathe so I see them all the time and no its not a sexual thing -- as I said you just get used to them like anything else!

To question her readiness is not to doubt her talent or intelligence; nor is it a reflection of gender bias, snobbery or any of the other sins that have been ascribed to those who worry about Ms. Palin as vice president. Ms. Palin last night noted tartly "that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone." It is a good applause line. But the fact is that Ms. Palin has an astonishingly thin résumé -- mayor of a small town, governor of a sparsely populated state for less than two years -- for someone hoping to ascend to national leadership. The country will need to hear much more from Ms. Palin before being convinced of the soundness of Mr. McCain's judgment.

In fact, backbone capacity has grown faster than Internet traffic in the last year—for the second year in a row.

Even as international Internet traffic surged by just over 50 percent from mid-2007 to mid-2008, worldwide backbone capacity grew even faster. Despite the bandwidth horror stories, average link utilization on major backbone lines fell from 31 percent to 29 percent. Even peak utilization, often trotted out as a key reason for doing traffic management, fell from 44 percent to 43 percent.
