False Memories

The study shows how prone people are to "false memories", which the researchers say police and social workers must take into account when evaluating witness testimony or "recovered" memories of childhood abuse.

"Taken as a whole, this is further evidence that our memories are not perfect," said Dr James Ost, a psychologist at the University of Portsmouth. "They are not like a videotape you can rewind and replay for perfect recall. Because of this, memory alone is not reliable enough to form the basis of legal decisions."

The study backs up previous research by Ost in which people claimed to have seen non-existent footage of the crash in Paris that killed Princess Diana.

An unauthorized biography of Tom Cruise includes the outrageous claim by a handful of the group's members that Suri Cruise is the spawn of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

The controversial tome - which could earn writer Andrew Morton a hefty lawsuit - also suggests that Tom Cruise is now second in command of the Church of Scientology.

A small group of members of the Scientology sect Sea Org have outrageously theorized that Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes, was impregnated with frozen sperm from Hubbard, the group's founder, who died in 1986, according to the book.

Cruise lawyer Bert Fields told London's Daily Mail that the book is "poorly researched and badly written, and it's not really even about Tom Cruise - it's an attack on Scientology."

Morton, the Princess Diana biographer who penned the Cruise bio, shockingly used the small group's claim to compare Holmes' situation to the horror flick "Rosemary's Baby," in which a woman is impregnated by Satan.

The palatial residence, on a street dubbed Billionaires’ Row, is believed to have been bought by Britain’s richest man, steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal.

The home in Kensington Palace Gardens, West London, Princess Diana’s former street, is being sold furnished and with an art collection. It works out at an astonishing £8,000 per square foot.

Mr Mittal, 57, who denies being the buyer, has been looking to splurge some of his £27.7billion fortune on a home for son Aditya, 32.

Mr Mittal moved into the half-mile, tree-lined private avenue four years ago after paying £67million for a 12-bedroom home.

He is believed to be close to exchanging contracts with owner Noam Gottesman, 47, a US-born financier.

When dog owners Beth and Brian Willis's beloved pets died, they found a way to remember them that left them feeling warm all over.

They kept the hair combed from their pedigree dogs and had it spun into yarn, which Beth then knitted into his 'n' hers winter warmers.

And years later, their "hair of the dog" memorials are still in use.

Mr Willis, who worked for Pickfords Removals for 27 years, wears his doggy jumper into town every Saturday to do the weekly shop.

The 73-year-old said: "They are extremely warm and pretty much waterproof.

"Unless it is banging it down, it is fine. I've always got a sweat on by the time I get from the bus to the shops."

Mother-of-three Mrs Willis, of Earls Drive, Benwell, Newcastle, first used the fur of their white Samoyed, called Kara, to knit her husband's sweater in 1990.

Kara died 12 years ago but the sweater looks like going on for ever.

Mrs Willis, 71, said she had the idea after seeing a picture of Princess Diana wearing a dog fur stole at Crufts.

I hope John Prescott's revelation means more people with eating disorders will make contact in the future. Too often, the time when men get help is when they've gone too far and are being treated in hospital. They should know that it is possible to recover – and fully. But it's like breaking a leg – although it heals and you can walk again as if nothing ever happened, the bone doesn't heal in exactly the same way as it was before

When Hello! first appeared, in May 1988, the reaction of London's hip, young media professionals was instantaneous.

One side was more than enough. Everyone agreed Hello! would fold in weeks.

ONE warns that police are "targeting fat chicks", another urges people to "get over" the death of Princess Diana.

A provocative new range of T-shirts, created by Sydney-based businessmen Peter Legras and Adam Hunt, have been on sale for just a week but already they are being described as "rude and revolting" by critics.

The clothing, available through the website goatboy.com.au, has met with a different response online though, with the site being featured by a number of international bloggers.

Mr Hunt, a former advertising executive, said the shirts, bearing 14 different designs or logos, retailed for $49 and $59.

The controversial nature of the slogans is addressed in a disclaimer on the site, which reads: "If anyone gets offended by our designs, we'd like to humbly point out that you're wasting your righteous indignation on a bloody T-shirt, when you should save it for something that actually matters."

Many of us would love to live the lavish life style of the rich and famous. Why not have a grand affair inspired by a Princess…a real Princess. Princess Diana unlawfully killed

Princess Diana was unlawfully killed due to the "gross negligence" of driver Henri Paul and the paparazzi, an inquest jury has found.

The jury reached the same verdict for her companion Dodi Al Fayed.

The jury also specified that Mr Paul's drink-driving and a lack of seatbelts contributed to their deaths.

Mr Al Fayed's father Mohamed refused to accept the verdict. Former Met Police chief Lord Stevens said he hoped it would bring "closure".

The jury returned joint verdicts of unlawful killing through grossly negligent driving - or gross negligence manslaughter

The inquest into the 1997 Paris crash that killed the couple and Mr Paul lasted six months.

The total cost to British taxpayers of investigating Princess Diana's death is expected to top £10 million.
