Lampung coffee farmers and exporters claim the U.S financial crisis has contributed to the fall in the price of the commodity.

"In the past, 2001-2002, when the price fell to Rp 3,000 per kilogram, many frustrated farmers cut down their coffee trees."

Another coffee farmer, Suharno of Sumberjaya, West Lampung, said he was ready to "change" his coffee plantation if the price continued to drop.

Without giving the exact amount of money involved, exporters claimed to have suffered losses of 30 percent because of the decline in price of coffee at the London terminal.

Lampung is the largest robusta coffee producer in Indonesia. Currently the province has 163,837 hectares of coffee plantations with 218,447 workers.

How could that possibly be? The answer is that the traders have found a chink in Australia's regulatory armour.

The hedge funds have found a way to manipulate the market through a process known as short selling. This is where traders sell stocks if they think the share price will fall in the future. Then they buy them back at a lower price later on. It is perfectly legal and even encouraged as it can add liquidity to markets.

In recent years, however, the practice has become more sophisticated and incredibly complex.

Parents Outraged Over Baby Doll They Say Mumbles Pro-Islam Message

A doll some are claiming utters pro-Islam and even satanic messages has outraged parents in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

People insist they can hear Fisher-Price's "Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo" mumbling "Islam is the light" and "Satan is king," according to KJRH.com and MyFOXKC.com.

"There's no markings on the box to indicate there's anything Islamic about this doll," said Gary Rofkahr of Owasso, Okla., who was at work when another man brought the toy in to show his colleagues.

Rofkahr said he found various versions of the doll at local Target and Wal-Mart stores, which have since pulled the toys from their shelves, reported KJRH.com.

Fisher-Price referred all calls to parent company Mattel, which didn't immediately respond to FOXNews.com's requests for comment.

A Target representative told KJRH.com the company has no plans to recall the doll nationwide.

With a crappy economy and Apple’s surge in popularity amongst poor college kids, it seems like a likely and smart move for Steve Jobs and Co.

Walkability is nothing new and it’s not a new topic here in Columbus. Who doesn’t want it all right out their doorstep so long as they also have a bit of the American Dream along with at least a bit of grass? While the above statistic may be accurate, I’m not sure we see it here in Columbus.

Olde Worthington and historic downtown Upper Arlington seem like they would capture a premium price for their own brand of urban walkability but, although it’s true to a point, there are other neighborhoods within those municipalities that do equally well if not better but that’s more about space.

It’s True that the Short North and German Village command a premium price because it’s all right there for you. Why haven’t Olde Towne East and Franklinton also become considerably more popular in light of movement back to the city centers? (True, Franklinton’s housing stock isn’t steller but it certainly is affordable) Is it because the amenities aren’t there yet?

The era of record profits from oil and gas is over - that's according to Russia's Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin. 2008 is likely to be the year of peak oil and gas production in the country.

The big oil companies are cutting investment in new projects. Russia has received up to $1 Billion a day in oil revenues in recent years, and the country's budget and economy remain highly dependent on hydrocarbon earnings.

The world financial crisis and recession has triggered big falls in the world's oil price. That will significantly affect the Russian budget, according to Mikhail Kroutikhin, partner at Rusenergy.

“We will see a deficit after the price goes down to 70 dollars, at least that s what the Finance Minister says. I believe it could be sooner.”

At the beginning of the week oil dropped to an 8 month low, and rebounded slightly on Tuesday to $89 a barrel for Russia’s Urals blend.

As the worlds second largest oil exporter, Russia is critically dependent on international consumers. President of the Russian Oil and Gas Industrialists Union, Gennady Shmal, says the oil giants have also looked abroad to borrow.

“A lot of our oil companies have high dependence on foreign borrowings. We don't have a common figure but for example Gazprom has around $40 Billion and Rosneft is also around $40 Billion. And Russia exports a lot, so we depend on our international consumers of oil and gas.”

The first signs of falling consumption from US and China - the world's largest oil consumer - could see the price of oil down to 60 $ per barrel, analysts say.

Stocks drop for 6th session on recession fear

NEW YORK (Reuters) -Stocks fell for a sixth straight session on Wednesday, as a coordinated worldwide cut in interest rates failed to alleviate fears about a global recession.

It was a session of wild swings, with no clear direction determined until the final minutes. Wall Street's favorite measure of investor fear, the Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index, hit a record intraday high.

The Nasdaq has lost 16.81 percent in the last six days -- its worst six-day percentage loss since April 2001.The Nasdaq has dropped 351.55 points in the last six days -- its worst six-day point loss since December 2000.

Bank of America's shares fell 7 percent to $22.10 after it was forced to price a $10 billion stock offering at below Tuesday's closing price.
