Google Music Search Turns Your Results Pages Into Personal Radios

As rumored, Google Music Search (aka Onebox) is a music search feature that appears inside Google search that will give you not a little 30-second clip, but a full song play.

Basically, as you can see in the picture, you will see play buttons alongside different songs when you get search results. If you press play, a popup from MySpace (iLike) or Lala appears, letting you play the full song and giving you buttons to buy it or get more info. You will also have the chance to check out the band on other services/sites, including Pandora, iMeem and Rhapsody. (As you might imagine, there's no mention of iTunes in all of this.)

I had been a longtime Chinesepod fan and I loved being able to subscribe to their chinese lessons on iTunes and listen to them on my iPhone in my free time. Unfortunately, Chinesepod changed their policies awhile back, and now you can only access their newbie level lessons without paying. Luckily for us, Popup Chinese fills the gap, and all their daily chinese lesson podcasts are available for free. They have Absolute Beginners, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced chinese lessons as well as podcasts dedicated to writing and speaking. In addition, there are sets of lessons designed specifically for people studying for the HSK test.

If Oprah's name is on it, it's a near guarantee it will sell.

So last year, when she and Columbia University heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz talked about the acai berry on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," products featuring the now-famous fruit exploded onto the market, into television pitches, Internet popup ads and e-mails clogging your inbox.

Acai berry was marketed as the answer to weight loss, sexual dysfunction, even longer life.

These wild claims may seem more plausible when Winfrey and Oz's names are used as endorsements.

A book, magazine or diet with her golden seal of approval gives a consumer a sense of trust. After all, if Oprah Winfrey uses it, it has to be good, right?

The talk show host and her on-air physician sue dozens of companies.

Images require alt text; don't always want captions

Images must always have alt text according to the HTML spec (it can be empty, but the alt="" attribute must be present). However, you don't always want a caption to the side of the image. It's possible to create the image, then delete the caption, but it can be maddening for users (especially non-power users) to have to keep doing that.

Satisfying the HTML spec is an implied legal requirement in the UK (and some organizations' funding depends on accessibility standards, and it's also good for users) so I feel it's important to add flexibility here.

Here's a patch to img_assist.module that adds some checkboxes (default=checked i.e. current behaviour) to the insert-image popup, which mean you can populate the alt attribute without getting a caption. Tested with TinyMCE, but I'm a bit at sea when it comes to e.g. the parent.updateCaption() function - it doesn't seem to be used?

The key to picking up and going at the last minute is to have the majority of your supplies always ready to go. We have a popup trailer that we keep packed with all the necessary items in it. But, even if you tent camp you can be ready to go at a moments notice by keeping everything together in a few large Rubbermaid-type totes. I’ve read that some people even keep extra clothing in their RVs so that all they have to do is stop at the grocery and they’re set for the weekend. I don’t do that; as long as my laundry is clean I can pack clothes in just a few minutes. And, even if it’s not (as in the case of my son’s clothes this past weekend) I just throw it in a bag and bring along a little laundry detergent and do a load at the campground.

The infection started when I was watching a video online. I guess I was not paying attention or I click something I was not supposed too, because next thing I knew my computer’s standard virus protection software stopped working and I was infected with Spywareandprivacycontrolcenter. I knew I was infected as soon as the first bogus popup window appeared to tell me my computer was infected. I knew I had not installed Spywareandprivacycontrolcenter so I knew it had to be a scam.
