Iran's Military Police

Tehran: A married woman last week accused some members of Iranian military police of participation in a group raping of her on November 4, 2009. Iran's Parliament today is said to secretly investigate these claims. A Human Rights Watch report last week also documented at least 3 cases of rape against political dissidents in Iranian prisons.

In the past, Iran's Parliament has been reluctant or unable to investigate criminal or financial matters related to the increasingly powerful Military Police and Revolutionary Guard Corp (RGC).

	 Thoughts and Quotes on Negotiation

People have been negotiating with each other for thousands of years, and ever since, they have been talking about how to do it best. We thought it would be interesting to take a look at how (famous) people have viewed negotiations:

From our founder’s perspective

Chester Karrass: “In business, you don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate.”

From a political perspective

Richard Nixon: “Let us move from the era of confrontation to the era of negotiation.”

Dean Acheson: “Negotiation in the classic diplomatic sense assumes parties more anxious to agree than to disagree.”

Howard Baker: “The most difficult thing in any negotiation, almost, is making sure that you strip it of the emotion and deal with the facts. And there was a considerable challenge to that here and understandably so.”

Francis Bacon: “If a man will begin with certainties, he shall end in doubts; but if he will be content to begin with doubts, he shall end in certainty.”

Tags: negotiations, thoughts, qoutes, negotiate

<clipSource>http://www.karrass.com/blog/2009/06/thoughts-and-quotes-on-negotiation.html</clipSource>

Time to Surrender in Afganistan

clipped by: ColoradoRight
clipper's remarks: There's no sense putting our troops in harm's way in the field if we won't protect them in Texas.

Clip Source: www.americanthinker.com

It's time to surrender in Afghanistan. However, that text reveals only one front in the radical left's war against America. The Cloward/Piven Strategy is another method employed by the radical Left to create and manage crisis. This strategy explains Rahm Emanuel's ominous statement, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

The Cloward/Piven Strategy is named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Their goal is to overthrow capitalism by overwhelming the government bureaucracy with entitlement demands. The created crisis provides the impetus to bring about radical political change.

Clip Source: www.americanthinker.com

The Cloward/Piven Strategy of Economic Recovery

Using borrowed money for a band-aid bailout of the economy should seem backwards to most people. However, it likely is a planned strategy to promote radical change. Those naively believing that President Obama is simply rewarding his far-left base, and will then move to the political center, must wise up.

The assumption that Obama will need the nation to prosper in order to protect the 2010 mid-term election incorrectly assumes that he esteems free market capitalism. If one exists as a ward of the state —a
recipient of dole— one favors the system that
parasitically extracts and redistributes the assets of others.

If one believes in political freedom and
self-reliance, one tends not to flounder in a mire of
want and resentment of the "greedy."
If one sees oneself as a hapless
victim of corporations, one is inclined to be hostile toward the party that
promotes laissez faire government—social and economic
independence and freedom.

Tags: socialism, communism

<clipSource>http://www.freedom-and-law.org/s_v.html</clipSource>

Meat Grinder opening in Taipei [Taipei Times]

clipped by: wisekwai
clipper's remarks: http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2009/11/06/2003457750

Clip Source: www.taipeitimes.com

Meat Grinder

A coming-on-middle-aged street vendor projects her madness and history of abuse onto (mostly) unsuspecting, sleazy men — and cooks up a storm. Surprisingly good reviews greeted this gory Thai drama, which is right up there with Hong Kong’s The Untold Story (八仙飯店之人肉叉燒包) as a boundary-pushing, gag-inducing Asian incarnation of Sweeney Todd; it’s also a perfectly timed essay for people who think US beef is the sign of the Devil. Abstruse political subtexts (it’s set during student riots in the 1970s) and class and gender commentary ... or blood, guts and torture for their own sake? Take your pick. Taiwan’s censors have let this one through without cuts, though it isn’t clear if this is the version originally banned in Thailand. Either way, here’s the question: Why doesn’t Taiwan make movies like this?

Tags: thailand, film

<clipSource>http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2009/11/06/2003457750</clipSource>
