...and even then, it's no guarantee you'll figure out the real meaning behind these masterpieces of ambiguity. At least this signage provides much needed entertainment and comic relief on our all-too-stressful urban roads.

Let's just hope that when it comes to something really important - like instructions for handling nuclear waste and warnings to avoid the giant killer bee nests, they would not screw up the message.

A new way to remotely monitor blood pressure, pulse rate and sweating could be used to screen for health signs as well as to administer lie detection tests on people without their knowledge or consent.

It's obvious when Pinocchio's lying. What about more subtle clues? Scientists say they have the basis of a remote lie detector test that monitors someone's sweat, pulse and blood pressure without them knowing. But is it ethical?

While researchers stress their work remains only proof-of-concept, a commercial version using sub-terahertz waves could theoretically help remotely monitor medical patients, evaluate athletic performance, diagnose disease and detect lies.

The key is in the surprising shape of human sweat ducts.

The device could also be used as a remote lie detector, without their knowledge or consent.

Trained professionals can evade polygraphs, but if a person doesn't know they are being constantly tested the new method could be more effective.

The director of a Norwegian museum claims to have found cartoons drawn by Adolf Hitler during the Second World War.

William Hakvaag, the director of a war museum in northern Norway, said he found the drawings hidden in a painting signed "A. Hitler" that he bought at an auction in Germany.

The coloured cartoons included sketches of characters from the 1937 Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which were signed A.H., and an unsigned sketch of Pinocchio from the 1940 Disney film.

There is no independent confirmation the drawings were the work of the Nazi leader, but Hitler is known to have owned a copy of Snow White and to have viewed it in his private cinema.

Mr Hakvaag, who said he had performed tests on the paintings which suggested that they dated from 1940, said: "I am 100 per cent sure that these are drawings by Hitler. If one wanted to make a forgery, one would never hide it in the back of a picture, where it might never be discovered."

Frosty the snowman is iconic of man's chronic horror of the animated spiritual. While the typical Frostologist might sight this 1950s pop hit as an example of fun childish nonsense, a closer reading of the Frosty "fairytale" reveal that Frosty is spawn from a line of golems tracing back to the early myths of the Golems in Jewish culture, continuing in more scientific times in the flesh-golem of Frankenstein's "monster," committing murder again as the Stone Guest of Don Juan, getting preachy in the tale of Pinocchio, terrorizing us in zombie movies such as Night of the Living Dead, and persisting in Pixar hits such as Toy Story. When we read through the childhood lightheartedness we read that philosophical anxiety necessitated by the animated dead hides even in childhood stories, and the children, with their heightened sensitivity of innocence, cannot miss the implications inherent in the story of the bestowed soul.

British actress Rachel Weisz was captured as Snow White, along with Julie Andrews as Blue Fairy of “Pinocchio” and Abigail Breslin as Fira. Tennis superstar Roger Federer was photographed as King Arthur. They join previous subjects Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, Beyoncé as Alice in Wonderland and David Beckham as the Prince from Sleeping Beauty. Leibovitz says that the actors “take these parts very seriously. They all come in having watched the movie and are prepared.” By the end of the shoots, she finds, “they have such a good time playing a role that they don’t want to take the clothes off. They want to walk around for a little while.”
