Obama flyers dropped on Coachella neighbours during Roger Waters' set

Thousands of papers bearing a checkmark next to the name of US presidential candidate Barack Obama were dropped on neighbourhoods surrounding the Coachella Festival during Roger Waters' Sunday-night set (April 27).

An Indio police spokesperson said that the material was distributed without permission from the city or Goldenvoice, and that the concert promoters have been very cooperative in lending a hand to clean up the area.

Coachella spokespeople could not yet confirm whether the Waters camp was responsible for the messages, however it seems very likely as the former Pink Floyd man flew a giant inflatable pig during his set with the same Obama message painted on its underside.

Pink Floyd star Roger Waters offered a £5,000 reward after his giant inflatable pig disappeared over the horizon.

The two-storey-high pig was released during the climax of Water's set at the Coachella Festival in California.

Waters offered a cash reward, plus four lifetime tickets to the festival, for the safe return of the stage prop.

As it drifted over Indio, California, Waters, 64, said: "That's my pig." It was released as he sang Pigs from the 1977 Floyd album Animals.

On its underbelly was emblazoned the word "Obama", backing Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Happily for the former Floyd bassist, it was later found in two parts at an exclusive country club at La Quinta.

"The pig was found in a La Quinta country club by two families," according to festival spokeswoman Marcee Rondan, who said the families would split the cash reward and each receive two tickets for life to Coachella.

A giant inflatable pig which floated away during a Roger Waters concert at the weekend has been recovered in tatters in California.

The pig, which measured the width of two buses, was found by two families on their driveways in La Quinta.

They will split the $10,000 (£5,090) reward offered by the Coachella music festival, from where the pig was lost.

The inflatable pig bore the image of a ticked ballot box for US presidential hopeful Barack Obama on its underbelly.

Floyd inflatable pig is recovered

A giant inflatable pig which floated away during a Roger Waters concert at the weekend has been recovered in tatters in California.

The pig, which measured the width of two buses, was found by two families on their driveways in La Quinta.

They will split the $10,000 (£5,090) reward offered by the Coachella music festival, from where the pig was lost.

The inflatable pig bore the image of a ticked ballot box for US presidential hopeful Barack Obama on its underbelly.

The animal's flanks carried the slogans "fear builds walls" and "don't be led to the slaughter", with a cartoon of Uncle Sam holding two meat cleavers.

Former Pink Floyd star Waters said "that's my pig" as it drifted away during Sunday's gig.

Coachella spokeswoman Marcee Rondan said: "It wasn't really supposed to happen that way."

The pig was tethered to the ground with ropes and floated away as Waters was playing Pink Floyd song Pigs on the Wing.
