At a normal campaign rally, it's the candidate who tries to whip the crowd into a frenzy. At John McCain's town hall in Waukesha, Wis., Thursday, it was the other way around. "I'm mad, and I'm really mad," said one man who'd been called on to ask a question. "It's not the economy. It's the socialist taking over our country." McCain started to respond, and the man shot back sternly. "Let me finish please. When you have an Obama, Pelosi, and the rest of the hooligans up there gonna run this country, we've got to have our head examined. It's time that you two who are representing us, and we are mad."

At a townhall meeting in Wisconsin on Thursday, Sen. John McCain came face to face with everything that is troubling grassroots conservatives. We are tired and frustrated with big-spending, big-government programs. We are tired of the corruption in Washington by both parties. We are sick of efforts to "reach across the aisle" to work with socialist Democrats.

After the man in Wisconsin spoke, Sen. McCain said, "Well, I think I got the message." Did he? McCain went on to say how we need to all work together, blah, blah, blah. Working together with Democrats -- acting like Democrats -- is how we got into this mess! Wake up! Fight for conservative values! It's what the country wants and needs.

Former McCain Strategist Warns Against "Angry Mob"

John Weaver, John McCain's former top strategist, says the Republican candidate is making both a moral and a a tactical mistake by letting abusive hecklers have free rein at rallies:

"People need to understand, for moral reasons and the protection of our civil society, the differences with Senator Obama are ideological, based on clear differences on policy and a lack of experience compared to Senator McCain," Weaver said. "And from a purely practical political vantage point, please find me a swing voter, an undecided independent, or a torn female voter that finds an angry mob mentality attractive."

Yesterday, McCain encouraged a questioner who ranted about "socialists taking over our country" and referred to Barack Obama and other Democrats as "hooligans." Watch:

Second, despite what Nancy Pelosi says, the Democrats most certainly did their part to help President Bush succeed in his “ownership society.” These Democrats who scream that this credit crisis is a result of lax regulations didn’t much appreciate the regulators when they warned that Freddie and Fannie were in trouble as early as 2004.

The recent ~~rescue package~~ bailout was also a bipartisan “achievement.”

We are going to elect one of these two collectivists into the White House in just a few weeks and we are going to send Democrats and Republicans back to the House and the Senate and ask them to abuse us more.

Make no mistake: this credit crisis is a bipartisan government achievement. What it is NOT is a failure of the free market.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that a $150 billion economic stimulus plan is needed now because of the faltering economy and she may call the House into session after the election to pass it.

Pelosi told reporters that the stock market meltdown, which has caused an estimated $2 trillion loss from pension funds, was a factor in her recommendation

If Democratic nominee Barack Obama wins the White House and if Capitol Hill Democrats make gains in the elections as well, it might be easier to pass a stimulus measure over dispirited Republicans,

Pelosi said a stimulus package would create jobs by investing in public works, increasing food stamps benefits and extending unemployment insurance for the long-term jobless.

So effectively we see that Nancy Pelosi is in the pocket of alternative energy companies. It’s basically the same claim being made by Pelosi and other Democrats against Republicans. And it’s just as bad as what they say the result is with Republicans.

Speaker Pelosi has walled-off any discussion of domestic drilling for oil.

Effectively that means that Speaker Pelosi wants alternative energy to get more money to earn more money for herself. The higher the cost for oil, the better her alternative energy stocks will do. And the American public be damned.

Cindy Sheehan, the "Peace Mom," now a candidate

Cindy Sheehan, demure in a black pleated skirt, rose-colored blouse and loafers, broke a mile-wide smile as she took the microphone. She knew the haters had stayed home.

She could stand on this stage as the long-shot independent candidate for the 8th Congressional district in San Francisco, running against the Speaker of the House, without hecklers shouting "Traitor!" and "Commie!" She could even joke about her enemies.

Introducing the rally's headliner, presidential candidate Ralph Nader, she said: "You know, it's not easy having most of the country hate you. I know ..."

Running against Pelosi, who has won her last 10 elections with about 80 percent of the vote, is widely considered a fool's errand. Republicans field an unknown this year, an interior designer. But Congress is even less popular than the president these days. Sheehan is banking on disappointment with Pelosi's leadership to send some disaffected voters her way.

Not every comedy sketch on "Saturday Night Live" has to do with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

But there's an unusual twist this week over another SNL skit. This one concerns a long, satirical bit about the Washington financial bailout bill including a "President Bush," a House Speaker "Nancy Pelosi" and a Rep. "Barney Frank."

Pelosi introduces a series of alleged "victims" of the Wall Street mess, who include two men clearly unqualified to have any kind of mortgage, a well-to-do couple who speculated in condos and lost all but 10% of their profits and an older couple, Herb and Marion Sandler.

Something else that should be looked into: Barney Frank’s relationship with a former Fannie executive named Herb Moses.

Frank told reporters Friday that starting in January, Congress will “have a major role.”

“We have to rewrite housing in America. … It would be highly irresponsible if we were to stop here,” he said. “Now we have to perform more serious reform.”

Yet, she mentions nothing about the accountability of people like Sen. Chris Dodd, or Franklin Raines or Jamie Gorelick, the latter two having made millions off of Fannie while the organization itself was sliding into government conservatorship.

Immediately after the Wall Street Bailout bill passed the House and went to the Oval Office for Presidential signature, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that there would be hearings on the subject.

According to CNN:

She said Congress will shine a new “light of scrutiny and accountability” on the nation’s financial system to try to prevent a replay of the problems that plunged the nation into a financial crisis.

Reps. Barney Frank, D-Massachusetts, and Henry Waxman, D-California, plan to hold hearings to increase scrutiny of the financial system, Pelosi added.

And what about Barney Frank Co-Chairing these hearings? Will anyone get him to answer questions about the way he blocked reform of Freddie and Fannie over the past several years? Will Pelosi demand accountability and transparency from him? No. She is nothing more than a partisan hack who just managed to cram through the biggest socialist package in American history.

He lobbied hard for the bill. He did so, according to some who met with him on Capitol Hill, because he feared that if he opposed the bailout and it triggered a market collapse it could cost him the election. Better to placate the thieves on Wall Street than stand up for the masses of enraged and swindled citizens.

Dennis Kucinich on the Democrats’ Bailout Betrayal

The passing of the $850-billion bailout pulled the plug on the New Deal. The Great Society is now gasping for air, mortally wounded, coughing up blood. It will not recover. It was murdered by the Democratic Party.

The Obama Sell Off

clipper's remarks: I know that the reason I moved everything I had out of the markets is that if Obama gets in he's going to destroy a minimum of 1/7th of the economy with his medical idiocy. He's also going to destroy investment with his tax increases and who can tell where the next huge failure will come from with that kind of uncertainty.

Better to sit on the sidelines and see what happens than try to guess exactly what the Democrats might destroy next.

Part of today's sell-off has also got to be the reaction of the business community to the prospect of Obama in power backed by a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. The full agenda of the modern left, never a realistic possibility in this country until this month, now seems possible if not plausible. Of course capital is scared and cash accumulating on the sidelines. The prospect of radical change is never comforting to investors.

The very panic that has caused the sell-off could also deeply damage Obama's recent momentum. He is, after all, a complete rookie and without any executive experience in good times much less a crisis. Is the country really going to roll the dice on Ayers' friend and neighbor and Rezko's partner, so that he can team with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to redesign the American economy in the middle of a global financial crisis and a war?
