A city of God and a city of man. We use the same Law but to a different final end."

Clip Source: neiswonger.wordpress.com

Augustine on the relationship between the two cities in law.

The motivation of those outside of Christ is always less than the highest good, and thus the reason for Law and the order it brings is merely personal peace in this life to those without a spiritual life. Egoistically speaking, Augustine sees that the non-Christian has as an intent only selfishness, and so though they may receive the Laws of God for practical purposes and their morality might have points of identity with Christian ethics on how a Civil state should be governed, being outside of the grace of God and having their own pleasure and well being as their ultimate goal, in every good law they ordain, they still break the Law. The Law is love, and love of the self the source of every ill of man. As Calvin said it, self denial is the essence of every Christian virtue.

<clipSource>http://neiswonger.wordpress.com/2008/07/08/augustine-on-the-relationship-between-the-two-cities-in-law/</clipSource>

Barack Obama's Berlin visit sparks German diplomatic row

clipped by: reimers

Clip Source: www.timesonline.co.uk

Berlin, a city torn apart by war, is the perfect setting for an American
president preaching peace. Ronald Reagan famously stood metres away from the
Brandenburg Gate and called on the Soviet Union to tear down the Wall
dividing Europe. And President Kennedy used a Cold War visit to the once and
future German capital to declare: “ich bin ein Berliner!”

The plan, Obama advisers have told Der Spiegel magazine, is to use the visit
on July 24 to signal an imminent improvement in the transatlantic
relationship.

But, say advisers to Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, it would be
tantamount to giving the German stamp of approval to Mr Obama, an undue
interference in the election campaign.

Technically the decision lies with the Berlin Mayor, a flamboyant, openly gay
Social Democrat, who quite relishes the idea of irritating the conservative
Chancellor. The toing and froing between the various seats of power in
Berlin is thus likely to continue until the last minute.

Throughout recorded time, and probably since the end of the Neolithic Age, there have been three kinds of people in the world, the High, the Middle, and the Low. They have been subdivided in many ways, they have borne countless different names, and their relative numbers, as well as their attitude towards one another, have varied from age to age: but the essential structure of society has never altered. Even after enormous upheavals and seemingly irrevocable changes, the same pattern has always reasserted itself, just as a gyroscope will always return to equilibrium, however far it is pushed one way or the other.

<clipSource>http://www.newspeakdictionary.com/go-goldstein.html</clipSource>

Dee's Rainbow athering videos

clipped by: papananook
clipper's remarks: See link for more Hippies doing their thing---Peace!

Clip Source: lj-toys.com

Clip Source: deesings.livejournal.com

<clipSource>http://lj-toys.com/?journalid=5770970&moduleid=83&preview=&auth_token=sessionless:1215525600:embedcontent:5770970%2683%26:8c88001a37a10157acec0f638abbb6b3d489e67b</clipSource>

Nationwide Protests at Canadian Consulates, Wed. Besides "War is Peace", I hear also "Death is Life".

Of course there are no known social good coming from the conquest of death, we never lived in a social system that conquered death. How could we possibly know? But Kass and his friends, seem to have some privileged knowledge we do not possess, and they already decided for us as individuals and as a society. Well, in time, I believe, they will have the choice to walk their talk. All I want is a chance to walk mine.

Clip Source: www.dailygalaxy.com

In his non-fiction Amazon bestseller, Ending Aging, Aubrey de Grey, champions recent progress in genetics and calorie-restricted diets in laboratory animals that hold forth the promise that someday science will enable us to exert total control over our own biological aging and substantially slow down the aging process.

Dr. de Grey

believes that the key
biomedical technology required to eliminate aging-derived debilitation
and death entirely is now within reach —technology that would not only
slow but periodically reverse age-related physiological decay, leaving
us biologically young into an indefinite future—is now within reach.

Leon Kass, the former head of Bush's Council on Bioethics, insists that

of death.”

Tags: aging, life extension

<clipSource>http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2008/07/end-of-aging--a.html</clipSource>

Large Peace Love

clipped by: asapdave3283

Clip Source: shop.cafepress.com

<clipSource>http://shop.cafepress.com/design/17884194</clipSource>

Peace Love & Massage

clipped by: asapdave3283

Clip Source: www.cafepress.com

<clipSource>http://www.cafepress.com/cp/moredetails.aspx?showBleed=false&ProductNo=170154249&colorNo=1&pr=F</clipSource>

2008 Rainbow Gathering

clipped by: papananook
clipper's remarks: Thanks to Dee for the photos. fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message.

Tags: peace, revolution, lennon, beatles

<clipSource>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmR0V6s3NKk&eurl=http://patrickhenrypress.info/?p=13242</clipSource>

Obama website the latest thing that offends Muslims

clipped by: Charlie Martel 732AD

Clip Source: jihadwatch.org

Obama website the latest thing that offends Muslims

As I noted here, Obama has been going to some lengths to make sure nobody thinks he's a Muslim.
