Anderson and Gabrieli discovered that when people consciously determine not to think about something they do not want to remember, their ability to recall that memory gradually weakens.

Researchers have been designing products inspired by or flat-out aping mother nature for years, a process called biomimicry. Sharklet Technologies is the latest to employ biomimicry, having studied the pattern of shark skin and printed it on a thin film in order to repel smaller bugs—bacteria.

Popular Science notes that the film, which is covered with microscopic diamond-shaped bumps, is the first “surface topography” proven to keep the bugs at bay. In tests in a California hospital, for three weeks the plastic sheeting’s surface prevented dangerous microorganisms, such as E. coli and Staphylococcus A, from establishing colonies large enough to infect humans.

You Are Beautiful – mural project, South Side Chicago

100 foot long mural, made entirely by volunteers, with solely scavenged or found materials. One individual at City Year, a after school program helping students at Marquette School (Chicago's 2nd largest Public School) looked across the street from her classroom, and decided to make a difference.

The pressure wash of the buff had removed the original paint of the fence. The property owners gave permission, when told about the project. Asking if a spanish translation could be incorporated as well.

The finished product.

Each letter included images of students in the program. Tip Toe cut stencils from the children's photos, having this be a surprise to the children. None of them knew they would have 3 foot tall images of their faces, until they saw them on the fence.

-package of coordinating My Stickease
-1 extra piece of coordinating cardstock (I used Sweet Leaf)
-1 6x6.5 piece of coordinating cardstock for the front cover of the album (I used Chocolate)

-use of my stamps, inks, tools, etc, to decorate their pages

I precut everything for them and labeled the back of each piece with just the page # on it. They brought their own adhesive.

Cutting Guide: I started by cutting all of the papers up into 6x6 squares. Each square represents a 6x6 square of paper. The numbers inside the squares tell you what page the paper or piece is used on. I listed the measurements below each square, if needed. Papers are listed according to colors/patterns in the "Good Times" paper pack that I used for my example, but the pattern can be easily applied to any paper pack.

This card is pretty easy to make: the initial triangle starts out as a 4x6 piece of cs and I cut it from the center at the top to each corner at the bottom making a triangle, then I lay it on my base cs and draw the center triangle and then lay the pattern piece beside the triangle I just dre, trace it and do this on both sides of the center triangle. From there you decorate as you choose. Don't forget to score between the three triangles on the base. You can punch a hole in each end piece and tie a ribbon through the two punches to make it stand. According to this investigative source, HASAN also downloaded material from the web site operated by former Dar al Hijrah mosque leader and terrorist facilitator Anwar Nasser al Awlaki. As reported here, al Awlaki was an imam at the Dar al Hijrah mosque in Fall Church, Virginia in 2001, where he advised and facilitated two of the 9/11 terrorists in the months prior to the attacks. Al Awlaki also counseled HASAN during that same period.

One observation: whichever route a person takes to faith, he or she tends to stay in that pattern. People who come to Christ through confrontational means seem to make more earnest visitors than those who gradually come to faith through "sociological absorption."

In addition, we practice hospitality, not just with long-time members of the church, but also with those who are new.

When I do visitation, I ask if I can meet the whole family. I work at including both the husband and the wife in the conversation, but when it comes to asking for commitment (whether praying for salvation or simply indicating their willingness to visit the church), I ask the man for his commitment first. If he agrees, it's easier for the rest of the family to make the same commitment.
