The potential for mistreatment of Muslim soldiers is such a concern that Casey said he has asked Army leaders “to be on the lookout” for it.

Army psychologist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the suspect in the shooting that left 13 people dead and more than 30 wounded, is in stable condition after being shot multiple times and is said to be speaking with authorities.

The rising concern about discrimination against Muslim troops as a result is wrenching for Obama, who as president has made it his personal mission to tamp down inflammatory rhetoric and bridge the divide between Muslims and Americans of other faiths.

The White House has been reluctant to characterize the shooting, instead noting repeatedly that it is under investigation.

the Obama White House is in full campaign mode -- maybe because it needs to mask the shortcomings of the Obama presidency.

Well, it's the left that doesn't shy from attacking the patriotism of those it dislikes. Recall the repulsive Moveon.org "General Betray-us" ad against Iraq commander Gen. David Petraeus. Recent opposition to Chicago's Olympic bid was cast as a sign of a lack of patriotism among Obama critics.

The White House trying to dictate who's a news organization. Democrats out to gut a business group. Obama media allies damning Americans as racist, unpatriotic and treasonous. Is this the America Obama promised when he campaigned to end the cynical and divisive politics of the past?

Is it really necessary to continue this seven year long bled letting against a bunch of religious extremists and druglords many of whom have safe haven in Pakistan, only for the occasional victory? Victories that soon are negated by retaliatory actions of many of the same people we are there to ‘bring into the 21st century’.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s corrupt government skims the very drug trade that funds the indigenous forces NATO forces are fighting against and will therefore never lift a governmental finger to stop it.

As I write this I am in Washington DC for the International Vaccine Conference and I just did a 12 hour amazing tour of the Capitol that I will describe later, along with pictures that I will post on Facebook. So politics and patriotism is fresh in my mind.

When President Obama took office, many Americans welcomed what was supposed to be an era of much needed change not only for the economy but also for the food industry and U.S. health care system.

Time magazine put it quite well when they described current farm policy as "a welfare program for the megafarms that use the most fuel, water and pesticides; emit the most greenhouse gases; grow the most fattening crops; hire the most illegals; and depopulate rural America."

Numerous conservative media figures have already roundly denounced the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama, with one, RedState.com founder Erick Erickson, claiming that the decision was the result of "affirmative action."

"The right-wing media have once again demonstrated their true colors," said Eric Burns, President of Media Matters. "They want Obama to fail, and as long as he is president, they seem to want America to fail, too."

I was taken aback by some celebratory displays following news of Rio's selection. Particularly stunning were those which didn't come from Rio. Take Rush Limbaugh's reaction to the October 2 news of America's loss:

Wow! I can't stomach him, myself, but I know enough about the pundit to know he fancies himself a patriot. How a patriot could allow the derivation of elation from such a national disappointment?…Well, it's just too bad that mental gymnastics isn't an Olympic event.

I imagine that Limbaugh and his imitators are enjoying America's Olympic letdown as if they've finally taken an Obama pitch, yard. Their revelry, I predict, will be short lived. This episode will fade quickly from the majority of Americans' memories, save one truth: The "Proof," as Jon Stewart said during his October 5 broadcast, "proof that conservatives hate Obama more than they love America."
