Some plumber caught him in public without his teleprompter and started asking him some pointed questions about his tax plans. The Democrat/Socialist candidate told the plumber dude that he wanted to "spread the wealth around."

The wealth belongs to the people who earned it, and the government can't spread it around without first seizing it. Of course seizing that wealth from the evil high-achievers is something that appeals to a huge number of voters in this country.

Paul Krugman, an American economist and writer, has won the 2008 Nobel prize for economics.

He took the award for his work in mapping why some countries dominate international trade due to what is commonly called "economies of scale".

A professor of economics at Princeton University, New Jersey, Krugman is seen as a critic of the US policies that have lead to the current financial crisis.

Krugman had regularly criticised the Republican party and the leadership of George Bush, the US president, in his column in The New York Times newspaper.

In its citation, the Nobel academy said: "What are the effects of free trade and globalisation? What are the driving forces behind worldwide urbanisation? Paul Krugman has formulated a new theory to answer these questions.

"He has integrated the previously disparate research fields of international trade and economic geography."

Krugman also won the John Bates Clark medal from the American Economic Association in 1991 for his work on new trade theory.

What We Learn From a Play-Money Auction

If you want to get an idea of how this bailout bill is going to affect your family in the months and years to come, all you have to know is what took place at my nephew's party. My sister-in-law thought it would be fun to give away party prizes by having an auction with play money. I got to run the show. I had attended auctioneer school recently and needed the practice.

My nephew's auction serves as a good example of what we now face. This same liquidity-infusion process has been going on for decades in our economy with the Federal Reserve providing new money to the banking and financial industries. With the passage of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, however, the Fed is poised to accelerate this process at a rate not seen in our lifetime. Those who will be hurt the most, of course, will be those who do not receive the new money.

Stop Wasting Your Vote on Democrats and Republicans (If You Truly Want Change)

clipper's remarks: Voting is a very personal thing. What is right for me may not be right for you. It is something that we should all use our best judgment when doing. But it seems to me to be a waste to vote for a Republican or a Democrat and then expect anything to change for the better. There is an old adage that says something to the effect of if you keep trying the same failed solution to the same problem, you´ll get the same results. In fact, doing that is one definition of crazy. The time has come to shake up the establishment. A vote for a third, forth, fifth or sixth party candidate is not a wasted vote. I believe the majority of Americans in their hearts know this to be true, they just don´t seem to be able to let their brains act upon it. Hopefully, this can change.

I still believe that most third parties are significantly better (at least in some respects) than either the Democrats or the Republicans. It´s sad to think that a hundred million or more votes are going to be wasted on men like Barack Obama and John McCain who obviously couldn´t care less about the foundations this country was built upon. It´s insanity to keep electing these same party politicians over and over again and expect to get different results.

It is well past time the stranglehold this duopoly has on the nation was broken and someone else got the opportunity to lead. The change that this nation needs will not come from the establishment candidates who simply pay lip service to the concept of change. Perhaps the change needs to come from the people. We must be the change we seek. To help accomplish this, we need to change the types of people we vote into office. Unfortunately, I don´t foresee the vast majority of Americans suddenly becoming enlightened.

Remember, Barack Obama early in his career was a community organizer who helped train ACORN workers, and he later was an attorney who represented them in their efforts to intimidate banks into making more subprime loans available. The success of these efforts in Chicago had a nationwide influence, and Barack Obama had a direct hand in them.

GRAND RAPIDS -- He endorsed John McCain in the presidential primary, but now former Republican Gov. William Milliken is expressing doubts about his party's nominee.

"He is not the McCain I endorsed," said Milliken, reached at his Traverse City home Thursday. "He keeps saying, 'Who is Barack Obama?' I would ask the question, 'Who is John McCain?' because his campaign has become rather disappointing to me.

Milliken, a lifelong Republican, is among some past leaders from the party's moderate wing voicing reservations and, in some cases, opposition to McCain's candidacy.

Lincoln Chafee, a former Republican U.S. senator from Rhode Island, said he's voting for Obama and urging others to do likewise.

"That's not my kind of Republicanism," said Chafee, who now calls himself an independent. "I saw what Bush and Cheney did. They came in with a (budget) surplus and a stable world, and look what's happened

In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.
