information in the US is censored

Hopefully, you've seen all the videos in this series.

If not, I recommend you do that now to appreciate the enormity of what's been done to us by the oil industry and its henchmen.

And those henchmen most definitely include PBS, the so-called Public Broadcasting Service, perhaps better called the Petroleum Broadcasting Service.

For a few million dollars a year, the oil industry has completely censored any reporting on the REALITY that the US does not have to - and never had to - be dependent on gasoline for transport.

Pakistan has reportedly blocked a major fuel supply route for Western forces in Afghanistan in response to a raid by US forces in northwest Pakistan earlier this week, the defence minister said.

US forces attacked suspected fighter groups inside Pakistani territory on Wednesday, killing 20 people including women and children, Pakistani officials said, drawing a furious response from the Pakistani government.

Oil tankers were stranded at the border in Torkham [EPA]

Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Pakistan's defence minister, said on Saturday: "We have told them that we will take action and we have already taken action today.

"We have stopped the supply of oil and this will tell how serious we are," he told Pakistan's Dawn Television.

Nato has not confirmed the reports.

The fuel supplies have reportedly been blocked from crossing through the main crossing at Torkham on the Pakistani-Afghan border near Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province.

Trust is established on proof, not mere presentation and rhetoric. Even conservative Michael Savage is going after Palin and McCain as mere show horses, while the masses of the seduced and ear-tickled of the conservative naive get swept away by a little known governor who knows how to play to an audience, of men in particular, whose scandals and real "ethics" and "family values" are just now coming to light. Republicans are being tricked the most--and not for the first time--McCain loves it!

Iran Says Oil Price Is Right At $100 A Barrel

"Western leaders will be urging the cartel to remain unchanged in production strategy but I fear there is growing feeling in the ranks of price hawks that a cut in production is required and now," Mr Laughlin said

Even the most moderate Opec member, Saudi Arabia, which has indicated that it would prefer output to be left unchanged, has been cutting the discount at which it sells Arab heavy, a poor-quality crude that it uses to calm the oil price, offering large quantities at big discounts.

Oil market analysts expect Opec producers to vigorously protect the $100 a barrel price at next week’s meeting against a backdrop of rapidly falling crude prices and the strengthening dollar.

Crude oil prices are now at a five-month low and could yet fall through the $100 a barrel level, first breached at the beginning of this year.

“Continuing worries about the international economic outlook, a firmer US dollar and, possibly, market speculation that Opec may not move production levels following next week’s Opec meeting left oil prices softer,” David Moore, commodity strategist at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, said.

Predictions earlier this week that the world’s leading economies were at a standstill and that the UK could be in recession by the end of the year have heightened concerns that global demand for oil will fall back, sending prices plunging.

Venezuela has led demands for cuts but Ecuador's oil minister, Galo Chiriboga, has said that output levels should remain unchanged.

If Obama wins, buy infrastructure, tech, biotech, alt-energy, healthcare (non insurance) plays. You may want to sell oil, but I wouldn't do it, I would also sell defense contractors and possibly health insurers (although they may be beaten up enough with the prospect of a democratic administration).

If McCain wins, buy oil, gold, oil, more oil, some more oil after that, cigarettes, oil, other PM's (silver, copper, platinum), oil, what the heck, how about some oil, defense contractors, nat gas, oil, foreign stocks, oh yeah you definitely need some oil too. Did I forget to mention oil? You want to sell tech, biotech, possibly infrastructure.

the straight numbers crunched by energy experts at the Dept. of Energy’s Energy Information Admin. — that says drilling in off-limits coastal areas will NOT affect gas prices. But apparently, we may be among the few outlets doing this.

The Center for Economic and Policy Research released an analysis today finding that the “myth that offshore drilling would lower gas prices” is getting a “boost from major media.”

The nonprofit research group has found that in a total of 267 TV news broadcasts to date, the EIA data was only cited one time. In 91 percent of those broadcasts, there were no opinions presented questioning whether offshore drilling would reduce energy prices.

“This is a clear case where the overwhelming majority of the media has not done its job, and the McCain campaign is benefiting as a result,” said Mark Weisbrot, co-author of the analysis and the center’s co-director, according to a press release.

The companies that paid for the flights, a normal means of travel to remote and often roadless parts of Alaska, are both in the early stages of a lengthy approval process.

A month after the first visit, Todd Palin toured the Red Dog Mine, a lead and zinc operation in the northwestern part of the state.

That company is currently seeking permission to mine a new deposit, which would extend the life of the mine to 2031.

On two separate occasions last fall, the husband of the Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin boarded planes chartered by mining companies that want to dig for gold, zinc and lead in remote Alaska valleys.

Palin, a member of the United Steelworkers Local 4959, himself learned on the job. He began working in oil fields on Alaska's North Slope for BP Exploration Alaska in 1989, a year after he eloped with his high school sweetheart.

He took a leave from his position as a production operator at a Prudhoe Bay facility where oil is separated from water and natural gases when his wife became governor but returned six months later.

Todd Palin joined with state officials on the two mining trips, and the costs of his travel were disclosed by his wife as gifts in compliance with state ethics laws. The excursions coincide with a mini metals boom in Alaska fueled by high prices. Two new mines are scheduled to open in coming weeks and months, and four more are on the drawing board

3 - 15 oz. cans garbanzo beans (or approximately 6 cups)
One small red onion, diced
Large bunch of Italian parsley
¾ cup dried Turkish apricots, sliced
1/3 cup kalamata olives pitted
½ cup olive and sunflower oil blend
½ cup red wine vinegar
½ tablespoon garlic, minced
1 Tablespoon paprika
1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
½ Tablespoon dried oregano
½ Tablespoon dried marjoram
½ Tablespoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Rinse and drain the beans. Whisk together dressing: vinegar, oil, garlic, Dijon, marjoram, oregano, paprika, salt and black pepper. Toss with beans. Chop onions and parsley. Slice apricots thinly. Add with kalamata olives (rinsed and drained) to bean/dressing mixture. Let marinate several hours before serving.

John McCain Wants to Drill in Your Tolilet: Part II

Two months ago, I wrote a column saying that John McCain wants to drill in your toilet. I was joking at the time, but that comment turned out to be pretty much accurate. The Republicans' top slogan going into the fall elections is "drill here, drill now." It all depends on your definition of "here."

Anyhow, the basic point is straightforward. There is very little oil potentially available in the areas in which the Republicans are anxious to drill here and now. The Energy Information Agency (EIA) - remember, these people work for President Bush - tells us that the oil in the offshore-protected areas will eventually add about 0.2 percent to world's oil output. This would be sufficient to lower the price of gas by 3-4 cents a gallon.

The EIA projects that it will take ten years before we get the first drops of oil from drilling in currently protected areas

A former colleague of the US Vice-President, Dick Cheney, has pleaded guilty to funnelling millions of dollars in bribes to win lucrative contracts in Nigeria for Halliburton, during the period in the Nineties when Mr Cheney ran the giant oil and gas services company.
