this Great White was hooked in the mouth but only resisted slightly for 15 minutes
before it came up alongside the boat to have a look; long enough for one of the crew members to slip a rope
around it's tail!!! 'And that's when the s**t hit the fan!!. The Shark took off towing the 42 foot fishing boat backwards
through the water at about 7 Knots. Just like in JAWS, the boat was taking on water over the stern
and the crew watched in horror as the shark would actually jump completely out of the water at times.
This went on for an hour before the shark finally drowned.

She weighed in at 1035 LBS. It is suspected she followed a weak El Nino current into local waters
in search of food. Although mid 60 deg. water is considered ideal for these sharks,
the larger ones can tolerate water in the low 50s.
Cook Inlet oil drill tailings spew into the sea unregulated. Unmanaged gas and coal industries pollute Cook Inlet. Single-hulled oil tankers are no longer escorted by the Coast Guard. And municipal sewage is untreated; rain and storm run-offs are unchecked.

In a study reported Friday in the Journal of Fish Biology, scientists said DNA testing proved that a pup carried by a female blacktip shark in a Virginia aquarium contained no genetic material from a male.

The first documented case of asexual reproduction, or parthenogenesis, among sharks involved a pup born to a hammerhead at an Omaha, Nebraska, zoo.

"This first case was no fluke," Demian Chapman, a shark scientist and lead author of the second study, said in a statement. "It is quite possible that this is something female sharks of many species can do on occasion."

"It is very unlikely that a small number of female survivors could build their numbers up very quickly by undergoing virgin birth," Chapman said.

Tags: virgin births, sharks, birth, virgins, dna

<clipSource>http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/10/10/shark.virgin.birth.ap/index.html</clipSource>

To Reward the Top 5 to 10% of Top Sellers

clipped by: birdie-brain
clipper's remarks: AIG Spent US$440,000 on Spa and Resort after Bailout.

The group booked the resort's 3,100-square-foot Presidential Suite for US$1,600 a night for five nights, a discount from the standard rate of US$3,200 a night, a hotel document released by the committee showed. It also paid US$1,075 in "no-show fees."

"Have you heard of anything more outrageous?" said Representative Elijah Cummings, a Maryland Democrat, who plans to seek an investigation of the spending.
