SEATTLE When some 600 atheists, agnostics and other nonreligious folks gather in Seattle starting Friday for a Freedom From Religion Foundation convention, there will be an emphatically nonprayer breakfast.

Not to mention hundreds of provocative bus ads, including one with Santa saying: "Yes, Virginia ... there is no God."

The ads may seem in-your-face to some. But the Wisconsin-based organization has never shied from controversy. It has filed lawsuits on state-church separation issues and sponsored "Imagine No Religion" and "Reason's Greetings" billboards in Seattle; Olympia,. Wash.; and other cities.

Last winter, it put up an anti-religion sign in the Washington state Capitol building that raised a furor, eventually involving FOX News personality Bill O'Reilly and prompting thousands of phone calls to the governor's office.

fatal shooting took place at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. Motivated by a desire to kill liberals and Democrats, gunman Jim David Adkisson fired a shotgun at members of the congregation during a youth performance of a musical, killing two people and wounding seven others

Adkisson, a former private in the United States Army from 1974 to 1977, says that he was motivated by hatred of Democrats, liberals, African Americans and homosexuals

According to a sworn affidavit by one of the officers who interviewed Adkisson on July 27, 2008:

During the interview Adkisson stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country

he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of major media outlets

If Mom and Dad watch cable news, it’s better than 50/50 they watch “POX News.” So what gives? PBS " a network partially funded with my tax dollars " has the right to tell my kids that their parents watch “trashy” news? The message is clear, I can’t even sit my kids in front of “Sesame Street” without having to worry about the Left attempting to undermine my authority. And don’t tell me, “If you don’t like it change the channel.” There are no channels left! It’s everywhere. Just last week I had Obama’s service and volunteerism promoted on every single major network, including Disney and Nickelodeon.

…by the way, why SHOULD I change the channel? This is MY channel, I’m paying for it!

The fact that this is a re-run from an episode written during the Bush Presidency only reinforces that this is nothing new. The Left has been doing this for years now.

Add one more soldier to the Left’s war on Fox News: Oscar the Grouch.

Last week, in a re-broadcast of an episode that originally aired two years ago, Oscar starts his own news network, GNN (Grouchy News Network). An irate viewer calls in to berate him that the news is not grouchy enough:

“I am changing the channel. From now on I am watching ‘Pox’ News. Now there is a trashy news show.”

Later in the episode, Anderson Cooper from 4th place CNN, guest stars as a reporter for GNN. He interacts with “Walter Cranky” and “Dan Rather-Not” — Muppets representing real-life liberal news personalities — and they talk about “Meredith Beware-a” and “Diane Spoiler.” But no affectionate nicknames for Fox News personalities; no Spill O’Reilly or Brittle Hume — nope, and the only disparaging characterization of real-world news is reserved for Fox: Fox is a POX. It is trashy. They didn’t even attempt to try “MessyNBC.”

In the Internet world, Drupal is not as bad as it sounds. The open-source software package helps people create and manage their Web sites. And this week, a new WhiteHouse.gov site arrived that had been built via the Drupal code.

To some, the White House shift to Drupal from a proprietary software package represented a serious seal of approval for open-source software.

That's not what most people are thinking when they hear the words "opt out." The term more likely to come to mind is "scam."

While congressional Democrats act indignant that Republicans would intransigently oppose a national health care plan that now magnanimously allows states to "opt out," other liberals are being cockily honest about the "opt out" scheme.

On The Huffington Post, the first sentence of the article on the opt-out plan is: "The public option lives."

Andrew Sullivan gloats on his blog, "Imagine Republicans in state legislatures having to argue and posture against an affordable health insurance plan for the folks, as O'Reilly calls them, while evil liberals provide it elsewhere."

The Democrats' all-new "opt out" idea for health care reform is the latest fig leaf for a total government takeover of the health care system.

Democrats tell us they've been trying to nationalize health care for 65 years, but the first anyone heard of the "opt out" provision was about a week ago. They keep changing the language so people can't figure out what's going on.

The most important fact about the "opt out" scheme allegedly allowing states to decline government health insurance is that a state can't "opt out" of paying for it. All 50 states will pay for it. A state legislature can only opt out of allowing its own citizens to receive the benefits of a federal program they're paying for.

Individually, the CNN shows were beaten resoundingly by all the Fox News programs

The only CNN show from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. that did not finish last was Larry King, which was third, ahead of the new Joy Behar show on HLN. But Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News had a huge lead with 659,000 viewers

CNN’s performance was worst in the 8 p.m. hour. Bill O’Reilly on Fox News continued his long dominance with the biggest numbers of any host, 881,000 viewers.

Why are so many atheists angry and gloomy? Remember George Carlin? He was, in his early career, very funny, and inoffensive. Later in his career, he could not resist bashing Christians. I’ve never, in my life, heard a Christian angrily and cruelly trash an atheist. We’ve joked about them. There is, for example, the classic mocking description of a dead atheist: A person who’s all dressed up with no place to go. Like Larry the Cable Guy says: “That’s funny! I don’t care who you are. That’s funny!” But Christians don’t reciprocate when it comes to being rude, hateful, and profane.

I wanted to see the interview of atheist Richard Dawkins, by Bill O’Reilly, the week of October 11, 2009. I missed it on TV, so I pulled it up on the internet, on youtube. Now, if you want to see or hear hateful, scathing, venomous language and commentary, just go to the internet!

A White House attempt to delegitimize Fox News – which in past times would have drawn howls of censorship from the press corps – has instead been greeted by a collective shrug.

That’s true even though the motivations of the White House are clear: Fire up a liberal base disillusioned with Obama by attacking the hated Fox. Try to keep a critical news outlet off-balance. Raise doubts about future Fox stories.

But most of all, get other journalists to think twice before following the network’s stories in their own coverage.

Limbaugh Defenders Ignoring Long Record of Racist Remarks

For instance, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly (10/15/09) claimed that besides one well-documented racist remark Limbaugh made in the 1970s, the case that Limbaugh says racist things is non-existent: "The reason that Limbaugh is not going to be able to buy into the NFL is because a bunch of made-up stuff became legend. And he got hammered." O'Reilly added: "So what we have here are accusations without merit. But in our hypermedia age, that's enough to paint someone as a racist."

Central to their charge are two quotes allegedly made by Limbaugh--in which the radio host supposedly praised slavery and Martin Luther King assassin James Earl Ray--that cannot be documented and may be bogus. Many of the commentators claim that the case against Limbaugh is based on little more than the two dubious quotes.

Cliff Kincaid over at Accuracy in Media (AIM) announces Fox News has fired Marc Lamont Hill. Cliff represented AIM at NewsCorp’s annual meeting. (”Accuracy in Media is a News Corp. shareholder.”) AIM reports that he asked Rupert Murdoch why someone with Hill’s radical views would have a role as a Fox News commentator:

We look forward to confirmation of this report. If accurate, it is a major improvement to Fox News and cable news in general. (UPDATE: Hill confirmed this to The Huffington Post.) WASHINGTON--At the News Corporation annual meeting on Friday morning in New York City, Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media will urge Chairman Rupert Murdoch to ask why Fox News has hired a left-wing cop-killer apologist, Marc Lamont Hill, as a well-paid on-air contributor on shows such as The O'Reilly Factor.

"The Obama Administration had a Van Jones problem," Kincaid explained, "and News Corporation has a Marc Lamont Hill problem."

Van Jones was ousted from a White House job after his controversial background was highlighted by Fox News and other news organization, while Hill, a hip-hop professor, was hired by Fox News despite supporting cop-killers such as Assata Shakaur and Mumia Abu-Jamal, black racists such as Khallid Muhammad, and a communist group known as the "Poor Righteous Communist Party." Kincaid commented that, "Fox News is as bad as Obama on background checks."
