What happens after all the fear mongering that Iran is developing a nuclear weapons bunker turns out to be bunk?

U.N. inspectors found "nothing to be worried about" in a first look at a previously secret uranium enrichment site in Iran last month, the International Atomic Energy chief said in remarks published Thursday.

Mohamed ElBaradei also told the New York Times that he was examining possible compromises to unblock a draft nuclear cooperation deal between Iran and three major powers that has foundered over Iranian objections.

The nuclear site, which Iran revealed in September three years after diplomats said Western spies first detected it, added to Western fears of covert Iranian efforts to develop atom bombs. Iran says it is enriching uranium only for electricity.

"It's a hole in a mountain," he said.

Scientist spying for Israel busted by the FBI

From 1998 to 2008, the complaint alleges, Nozette was a technical adviser for a consultant company that was wholly owned by the Israeli government. Nozette was paid about $225,000 over that period, the court papers say.

Then, in January of this year, Nozette allegedly traveled to another foreign country with two computer thumb drives and apparently did not return with them. Prosecutors also quote an unnamed colleague of Nozette who said the scientist said that if the U.S. government ever tried to put him in jail for an unrelated criminal offense, he would go to Israel or another foreign country and "tell them everything" he knows.

The complaint does not allege that the government of Israel or anyone acting on its behalf violated U.S. law. In Jerusalem, Israeli government officials had no immediate comment.

WASHINGTON — A scientist credited with helping discover evidence of water on the moon was arrested Monday on charges of attempting to pass along classified information to an FBI agent posing as an Israeli intelligence officer.

Stewart David Nozette, 52, of Chevy Chase, Md., was charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to communicate, deliver and transmit classified information, the Justice Department said.

Nozette was arrested by FBI agents and is expected to make his initial appearance in federal court in Washington on Tuesday. Law enforcement officials said Nozette did not immediately have a lawyer.

At Energy, Nozette held a special security clearance equivalent to the Defense Department's top secret and "critical nuclear weapon design information" clearances. DOE clearances apply to access to information specifically relating to atomic or nuclear-related materials.

Russia is weighing changes to its military doctrine that would allow for a “preventive” nuclear strike against its enemies — even those armed only with conventional weapons. The news comes just as American diplomats are trying to get Russia to cut down its nuclear stockpile, and put the squeeze on Iran’s suspect nuclear program.

Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Kremlin’s security council, said the new doctrine offers “different options to allow the use of nuclear weapons, depending on a certain situation and intentions of a would-be enemy. In critical national security situations, one should also not exclude a preventive nuclear strike against the aggressor.”

Russia is revising the rules for the employment of nukes to repel conventionally armed attackers, “not only in large-scale, but also in a regional and even a local war.”

Security Council said it was "unthinkable even in a dream" that the country would eliminate its arsenal unless the United States did the same. The letter added that it was "unimaginable" that the Stalinist nation would rejoin the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

The President seems to have seriously ruffled some EU feathers at the UN (which probably has a lot to do with Chicago’s lackluster run at the Olympics) by pushing his personal image over that of the interests of the international community:

Mr Obama is said to have been worried the announcement would undermine the impact of his session on nuclear non-proliferation.

According to a person who has read the committee's draft report, the retired C.I.A. official, George W. Cave, an Iran expert who was part of the mission, said the group had 10 falsified passports, believed to be Irish, and a key-shaped cake to symbolize the anticipated ''opening'' to Iran.

As the United States ponders its next steps following this week's multiparty talks with Iran over its nuclear program, many of the cast of characters from Tehran fiascos past are coming out of the woodwork to weigh in once again. On Friday, the pardoned Iran/Contra architect Elliot Abrams emerged on Fox News to suggest that Iranians "would not rally around the flag" in response to a U.S. military strike. Meanwhile, Michael Ledeen surfaced on the pages of the Wall Street Journal to warn "change in Iran requires a change in government." Of course, Ledeen conveniently omitted his own nefarious role in the Iran/Contra scheme of the Reagan administration, a which policy consisted of giving the mullahs in Iran a cake, a Bible - and U.S. arms.

A lot of people assumed that there was no way Obama was stupid enough to put his prestige on the line by going to Copenhagen --- ignoring the rising unemployment figures or the disaster-in-progress in Afghanistan --- to shill for getting the Olympics for his purported hometown (a multibillion dollar jackpot for the corrupt crony Democrat political machine in Chicago) unless the fix was already in. No way would he be stupid enough to risk the humiliation of failure.

A lot of people were wrong. Obama was that stupid. And listen to the incredulity with which one of his media fluffers greets the news that his little bronze god has failed.

The Celebrity-in-Chief will jet with wife Michelle and Oprah Winfrey to Copenhagen, Denmark, where the power trio will kowtow to the corrupt IOC for their mixed blessing.

Track and field events will include Bail Jumping, Legal Hurdles, Blame Throwing and the always popular Graftathalon. Secondary competitions include such Chicago favorites as Freestyle Corruption, Under-the-Table Tennis, Greco-Roman Racketeering and Fencing. (Due to the recent ineligibility of ACORN, Ballot Boxing and Synchronized Vote Fraud have been cut from the program.)

Once the quadrennial games have been granted to The Second City, Chicago Olympics Committee Chairman Rob Blagojevich will ensure that all multibillion-dollar construction contracts are managed in a fair, ethical manner.
