Music improves dopaminergic neurotransmission: demonstration based on the effect of music on blood pressure regulation

We investigated the effect of music on blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Previous studies indicated that calcium increases brain dopamine (DA) synthesis through a calmodulin (CaM)-dependent system. Increased DA levels reduce blood pressure in SHR. In this study, we examined the effects of music on this pathway. Systolic blood pressure in SHR was reduced by exposure to Mozart's music (K.205), and the effect vanished when this pathway was inhibited. Exposure to music also significantly increased serum calcium levels and neostriatal DA levels.

With rare clarity, I can also understand why the religious masses shiver at his observations. What Dawkins has made me do is stop looking for answers in the mythical heavens, but within the hearts and aspirations of Man. The true question is surely what is GOOD and what is EVIL?
Good is easy to define; the music of Mozart, the words of Shakespeare and Goethe, the actions of the Red Cross and its’ workers. Evil is that which brainwashes children into beliefs that have no substance, blind obedience to mystical books written by genius writers over two millennia ago, and not allowing children to grow with the human instinct of inquisition. I have no doubt that if we do not challenge the evil amongst us, humanity will fail

Le Classicisme viennois au travers des concerts enregistrés à la Cité de la musique

Les trois grands maîtres viennois les plus représentatifs de l'ère classique, Haydn, Mozart et Beethoven, figurent dans les concerts enregistrés è la Cité de la musique. Brain music Research from the University of Toronto has suggested that a CD of your brain waves converted into music can help you to sleep. Researchers recorded people's brain waves as they fell asleep, and then converted them into sound. The research subjects listened to the recordings each night for 30 days and fell asleep three times faster than people listening to other people's brain waves.
