WSA then argues that we don't need God: We all should simply agree not to harm others—cause death, pain, or disability—unless there is "adequate reason."

But back to abortion. Ronald Reagan's logic was that if a hunter sees movement in the forest and doesn't know whether it's a deer or a person, he should not shoot. But WSA suggested in his book Moral Skepticisms (2006) that since we don't know whether abortion is morally wrong, it's unfair for employers to insist that health plans not pay for abortions.

Independents are increasingly the people who would like only to return "things" to a place where they just make sense.Greater numbers want to see a REAL new type of leadership and fewer of them care which party they are from. Unfortunately the lesser educated among them, with lower impulse control, have rushed to the front with their signs. The "news media" have only been too happy to get their snapshots on their derisive portrayals of the Independent movement.

Completely missing the point of Harvard University's Harvey Cox in his popular book The Secular City, people jumped on the idea that DOG theology meant that what would come to be called "secular humanism" had triumphed. Conservative clergy heaped great scorn on those who even tried to understand what the so-called "DOG scholars" were trying to say.

Time magazine brought the issue to the front burner of public opinion when they placed Thomas Altizer of Emory University squarely in the hot seat. We don’t look for anyone to blame or anyone to save us, but believe our communities have within themselves the innovation and ingenuity to create positive solutions to the converging crises of our time. We believe in igniting and supporting local responses at any level and from anyone – and aim to weave them together into a coordinated action plan for change towards a lower energy lifestyle. By building local resilience, we will be able to collectively respond to whatever the future may bring in a calm, positive and creative way. And by remembering how to live within our local means, we can rediscover the spirit of community and a feeling of power, belonging and sharing in a world that is vibrant, just and truly sustainable

<clipSource>http://www.indymedia.ie/article/94570</clipSource>

How Out of Touch Is This White House?

clipped by: ColoradoRight
clipper's remarks: Two possible explanations: (1) Gibbsy was trying to say something else and it came out very wrong; (2) Gibbsy was in a deep, deep coma for much of the past decade. Either way, maybe "White House press secretary" isn't the optimal line of work for him. I'm stammering at the moment myself from sheer frustration at deciding where to begin to answer him, but thankfully [Mary Katherine Ham] has pulled the necessary links together to do the job.

Clip Source: wizbangblog.com

So out of touch that they claimed no knowledge of the Tea Party movement?

So out of touch that President Obama had no interest in watching Tuesday evening's election results?

And now we have this absolute gem, courtesy of White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, who was asked about the handful of distasteful signs that appeared at Thursday's impromptu "Tea Party" gathering in DC to protest the Democrat health care reform bill :

"I will continue to say what I've said before. You hear in this debate, you hear analogies, you hear references to, you see pictures about and depictions of individuals that are truly stunning, and you hear it all the time. People -- imagine five years ago somebody comparing health care reform to 9/11. Imagine just a few years ago had somebody walked around with images of Hitler.

Yes, imagine! Just imagine!!

The only question I have is, what will they screw up next?

Tags: white house, comatose, ignorant, clueless

<clipSource>http://wizbangblog.com/content/2009/11/07/just-how-out-of-touch-with-reality-is-the-obama-white-house.php</clipSource>

Kashmir - Journey To Freedom

clipped by: Fast T friend
clipper's remarks: In a rare look at the region, Udi Aloni filmed his protagonists as they launched their new struggle. Finally refused re-entry by the Indian government, Aloni was forced to tell the rest of this story far from the land and people he had come to admire.

Clip Source: www.kashmirthefilm.com

My memory is again
in the way of your history:
Army convoys all night
like desert caravans...
We can’t ask them:
Are you done with the world?
In the lake the arms
of temples and mosques
are locked
in each other’s
reflections

This film tells the story of a new generation of young Muslim Kashmiris who, after years of armed resistance, decided to lay down their arms and start a nonviolent resistance movement in the hope of finally achieving peace and independence.

Tags: kashmir, documentary, udi aloni

<clipSource>http://www.kashmirthefilm.com/index.html</clipSource>
