Iran's Military Police

Tehran: A married woman last week accused some members of Iranian military police of participation in a group raping of her on November 4, 2009. Iran's Parliament today is said to secretly investigate these claims. A Human Rights Watch report last week also documented at least 3 cases of rape against political dissidents in Iranian prisons.

In the past, Iran's Parliament has been reluctant or unable to investigate criminal or financial matters related to the increasingly powerful Military Police and Revolutionary Guard Corp (RGC).

Korea, etc. and not from American or Western European companies.

<clipSource>http://www.irannewsdigest.com/2009/11/12/defense-firms-see-growth-in-mideast/</clipSource>

Advance To The Rear!

clipped by: merrie
clipper's remarks: (Well, in fairness, even if the president did declare back in 2008 this war was a vital national security interest, and he did signal last spring he was on board with counterinsurgency, and even if he did appoint Gen. Stanley McChrystal to get the job done in May, the general’s recommendations only arrived in August, and the president didn’t look at them until, what, late September, and he’s been really busy this whole time letting Congress bollix his health-care initiative, throwing Eastern Europe under the bus and flying to Copenhagen, that kind of thing, so he’s only been able to squeeze in seven high-level national security meetings, or is it eight? Is it so unreasonable to ask for new options on top of the new options that he asked for on top of the new options that McChrystal gave him? Meanwhile, China’s ass wants kissing and then we’re into the holidays … )

OK, I get that the political piece is vitally important, and for Eikenberry, up to his armpits in scheming

Clip Source: www.julescrittenden.com

But the president raised questions at a war council meeting Wednesday that could alter the dynamic of both how many additional troops are sent to Afghanistan and what the timeline would be for their presence in the war zone, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Obama’s thinking.

Never mind whether he’s going to commit more troops. pay suspected insurgents to protect American supply routes. It is an
accepted fact of the military logistics operation in Afghanistan that
the US government funds the very forces American troops are fighting.

And it is a deadly irony, because these funds add up to a huge amount of
money for the Taliban. "It's a big part of their income

. In fact, US military officials in Kabul estimate that a
minimum of 10 percent of the Pentagon's logistics contracts--hundreds of
millions of dollars--consists of payments to insurgents.

Clip Source: www.thenation.com

Many officials acknowledge what is going on
while also expressing a deep disquiet about the situation. The trouble
is that--as with so much in Afghanistan--the United States doesn't seem
to know how to fix it.

More than 1,000,000 members of the military
spent Veterans Day at their neighborhood Applebee's Grill & Bar yesterday,
enjoying friends, family -- and a free entrée. Applebee's saluted veterans
and active duty military for their service and sacrifice by honoring them
with free food in all of the nearly 1,900 restaurants across the nation.

"Applebee's is honored to have played a role in this national day of

honor."

The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for recommending charges, prompting the military equivalent of a grand jury, known as an Article 32 hearing, where both prosecutors and defense can present evidence.

Those results would be reviewed by the base commander, who would decide whether to convene a court-martial. Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused Fort Hood gunman, who last week opened fire in a processing center on the base, killing 13. Hasan was injured by gunfire, but remains alive and under heavy guard at Fort Sam Houston. That means, of course, Hasan will presumably be prosecuted for his actions.

But what will the legal proceedings look like for Hasan? Remember military dogs on Veterans Day

Today, November 11, Veterans Day is a national holiday honoring veterans and the sacrifices they make in defense of the United States of America. WWI armistice was signed November 11, hence the date. Who among us is not grateful for the selfless acts of nameless soldiers who place their lives on the line in defense of this country?

But, how many of us remember the contribution given by military dogs trained to assist troops in combat? There are many memorials to military and war dogs throughout the country but how many of us know the selfless acts of bravery and courage performed by military dogs?

So, today as you honor the memory of all soldiers who defended our country, take a moment to thank all the military dogs who gave their lives in defense of the United States. It's the least they deserve.

Tags: k9, veteransday

<clipSource>http://www.examiner.com/x-1513-Philadelphia-Animal-Advocate-Examiner~y2009m11d11-Remember-military-dogs-on-Veterans-Day</clipSource>

Muggers Return Wallet After Seeing Army ID

clipped by: Rain7128

Clip Source: www.foxnews.com

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee Army reservist's military identification earned him some street cred Tuesday, when he says four men who mugged him at gunpoint returned his belongings and thanked him for his service after finding the ID.

<clipSource>http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,573885,00.html?test=latestnews</clipSource>

Applebees’ Veterans Day salute

clipped by: nigerwill

Clip Source: willflip.blogspot.com
