India: Estimates are 70,000 believers left homeless by violence

The Voice of the Martyrs, in fact, has estimated that more than 70,000 Christians already have been left homeless in India by Hindu radicals.

Among the groups are the Abhinav Bharat (Pride of India), the Rashtriya Jagran Manch (National Revival Forum), the Sri Ram Sena (army of the god Rama), the Hindu Dharam Sena (Army for Hindu Religion) and the Sanatan Sanstha (Eternal Organization), and critics say they are breakaway groups from the Rashtriya Swayaamsevak Sangh (the RSS).

The Sanatan Sanstha has already earned such a radical reputation that India's anti-terrorism bureau has said the group should be banned.

WND recently reported in one part of India, Hindu extremists have been offering money, food and alcohol to anyone who murders Christians and destroys their homes.

Faiz Rahman, chairman of Good News India, said the going price for Hindu militants to target Christian leaders is $250.

Two other militants escaped, one of them badly wounded, after the attack in Kulgam district, south of Srinagar.

The militants had assault rifles but were taken by surprise - police found the remains of pudding they had made to eat when the bear attacked.

It is thought to be the first such incident since Muslim separatists took up arms against Indian rule in 1989.

The militants had made their hideout in a cave which was actually the bear's den, said police officer Farooq Ahmed.

News of the attack emerged when their injured comrade went to a nearby village for treatment.

Wildlife experts say the conflict in Kashmir has actually resulted in an increase in the population of bears and leopards.

Following the outbreak of the insurgency people had to hand in their weapons to police - which put a halt to poaching.

ABC reports: Iranian protesters took to the streets today as they do every Nov. 4 to mark the 30th anniversary of the U.S. embassy takeover. But this year, opponents of the Iranian regime used the government sanctioned day of street demonstrations to challenge the hard line administration. While supporters of the regime led chants of "death to America," crowds nearby shouted "death to the dictator," a veiled reference to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his political ally, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

And via this video report, CNN adds the protestors had a direct message for America's president too: "You're Either With Us or With Them"

Meanwhile, somewhere on another planet, a pointy-eared man with a peculiar name had this to say about the takeover by Iranian militants of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran: "This event helped set the United States and Iran on a path of sustained suspicion, mistrust and confrontation," he said in his statement.

WASHINGTON, Nov 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday condemned as biased a U.N. report accusing Israel and Hamas of war crimes in Gaza, and urged President Obama to oppose U.N. endorsement of its findings.

The House acted despite a written protest to lawmakers by South African jurist Richard Goldstone, who said his report on the December-January war in the Gaza Strip was misrepresented.

Opponents of the House move warned that although it was non-binding, it would hurt U.S. credibility as a broker of Middle East peace.

But sponsors of the House resolution, approved 344-36, said it was necessary to formally denounce the document because it displayed a bias against close U.S. ally Israel.

The report "paints a distorted picture," said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. It "epitomizes the practice of singling Israel out from all other nations for condemnation."

Chief of Pakistani- Pashtun Movement in Pakistan Hakimullah Mehsud has blamed the controversial American private firm Blackwater [Xe Services] for the bomb blast in Peshawar which killed over 117 [Pakistani] people, local news agency NNI reported Thursday.

The bomb, exploded at a crowded market at Chowk Yadgar [in Peshawar, Pakistan] on Wednesday [28 October 2009], also injured more than 250 [Pakistani] people.

He claimed that American security agency Blackwater [Xe Services] and Pakistani agencies are involved in attacks in public places to [maliciously] blame the militants.

When asked that the people also think that the militants are involved in such attacks, the Pakistani-Pashtun leader was quoted as saying: “Our war is against the [PPP-ANP-MQM-JUIF corrupt and tyrannical] government and the security forces [of Pakistan] and not against the [Pakistani] people. We are not involved in blasts.”

NATO forces in Afghanistan are reporting that three coalition helicopters crashed in two unrelated incidents Monday, killing at least 11 U.S. troops and three American civilians.

A NATO statement said one helicopter crashed in western Afghanistan after U.S. and Afghan troops raided a militant hideout and killed 12 suspected enemy fighters.

The statement said seven U.S. troops and three U.S. civilians were killed. The injured include 14 Afghan troops, 11 American troops and one U.S. civilian.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, but NATO officials said they do not believe the helicopter was shot down by insurgents.

In another incident in southern Afghanistan early Monday, two helicopters collided and crashed, killing four U.S. service members

A NATO statement said two other service members were injured in the incident. NATO said officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision, but they have determined that hostile fire was not involved

At least 136 people died Sunday after two car bombs detonated in Baghdad. With casualty figures still rising, officials said that nearly 600 people had been injured and taken to six area hospitals.

So many people were wounded that even civilian cars were pressed into service to take the casualties to area hospitals, said a Baghdad hospital official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The two vehicles were packed with explosives and detonated less than a minute apart in the centre of the Iraqi capital, officials said.

One Iraqi government spokesman said he suspected that al-Qaeda militants were responsible for the bombings. Ali al-Dabbagh made the comments to the BBC.

It was not clear whether the attacks had been carried out by suicide bombers.

The attacks happened near the city's Green Zone, a heavily fortified administrative district. The car bombs targeted the Justice Ministry and the Baghdad provincial administration, officials said.

You are probably wondering why I'm talking about this woman now. I'm wondering as others are, like the debate over at Blackfive where an Afghan women,Wazhma Frogh, asks:

As an Afghan woman who for many years lived a life deprived of the most basic human rights, I find unbearable the thought of what will happen to the women of my country if it once again falls under the control of the insurgents and militants who now threaten it.

In 2001, when the war in Afghanistan began, the liberation of Afghan women was one of the most important justifications for military intervention. Has the world now changed its mind about Afghan women? Is it ready to let them once again be killed and tortured by militants?

The Taliban had warned before the start of the campaign in South Waziristan that they planned to unleash attacks against Pakistan’s military assets.

The Taliban attacked the headquarters of the Pakistani Army, in Rawalpindi, in a commando-style raid on October 10. The insurgents took more than 40 civilians and soldiers hostage for 20 hours, and more than 20 people were killed in the siege.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A suicide bombing at Pakistan’s premier aeronautical manufacturing complex killed seven people on Friday morning, the ninth attack on major government installations this month.

The bomber blew up himself up at the checkpoint at the entrance to the complex, 40 miles northwest of Islamabad, as workers arrived for the morning shift, said a district police official, Fakhur Sultan.

Two men guarding the checkpoint and five civilians were killed, Mr. Sultan said. The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex at Kamra is the country’s main air force maintenance and research hub, where engineers and workers build and overhaul fighter jets and radar systems.

The attacks are seen as reprisals by the militants for the campaign against them in their tribal heartland.

TANK – More than 100,000 Pakistanis have fled their homes in the restive Waziristan region because of the ongoing fierce fighting between the army and Taliban fighters, many craving for help and attention.

“We have been waiting in the queue for hours but still I don’t know when my turn will come,” Jamal Khan, 43, told IslamOnline.net outside a registration center at Azam kot, a suburban small town of Tank district.

Khan is one of thousands who fled from different parts of South Waziristan before and after the army unleashed a full-scale offensive on Saturday, October 17, to flush out Taliban militants.

Many of them have traveled miles on feet along with their children and women and are now waiting for their turn to get themselves registered as displaced otherwise they won’t get food and shelter.

“As soon as we heard the news about the beginning of the operation, we left our homes with whatever we could,” Khan said.

"It was a bomb blast. It was inside the Islamic university building. There was another one a few minutes later," a police official was quoted as saying.

According to reports, ten persons were injured in the blasts, including three critically.

The blast comes as the Pakistani Army continues its offensive against militants in South Waziristan.
