She paid the 103 dollars back to Obama the day after she arrived in Norway

A decade and a half after shooting her abusive husband in the head, Cassandra Johnson seemed to have finally found peace in her life with a steady job, a growing family and a renewed sense of confidence.

Until her next husband allegedly turned on her.

Randy Lipkins, the father of Johnson's first child and a man she trusted to protect her, killed her earlier his month, according to Miami-Dade police, allegedly stabbing her 22 times and smashing her face with a hammer, leaving the body to rot in his apartment for four days.

"I totally thought Cassandra was going to make it," Edith Georgi, the public defender who helped Johnson escape a murder charge in the shooting of her first husband, told ABCNews.com.

Taylor meanwhile is charged with orchestrating atrocities by rebels in Sierra Leone from 1996-2002 while he was ruling Liberia.
"Many of the people who commit these crimes perceive that if they win they're in the presidential palace for life, if they lose they'll find exile somewhere and live comfortably," Rapp said. "We really want to eliminate that perception that you can get away with these things."

The largest alternative medicine study the government has ever launched has stopped enrolling people while officials investigate whether participants were fully informed of the risks and are being adequately protected, The Associated Press has learned.

More than 1,500 heart attack survivors are involved in the research, which tests a controversial treatment called chelation. It is mainly used to treat lead poisoning.

"We think we have a safe and ethical trial and we're protecting our patients," said the leader, Dr. Gervasio Lamas of the University of Miami.
