Le Blackberry Storm 9500 est un appareil 3G+ (GPRS, EDGE, WAP, HSDPA) qui dispose d’un format peu courant chez le constructeur avec des dimensions de 112,5 x 62,2 x 13,9mm intégrant un grand écran LCD tactile de 3,3 pouces permettant un affichage 65 536 couleurs dans une résolution 360 x 480 pixels.

En plus des fonctions de gestion de contacts, messagerie et agenda habituelles aux Blackberry, on retrouve pour le multimédia lecteur audio et vidéo, une fonction dictaphone et un appareil photo numérique de 3,2 Megapixels, le tout agrémenté d’une prise audio 3,5mm et d’une mémoire de 1 Go extensible. Pour les nomades, le Blackberry 9500 dispose d’une puce A-GPS.

Côté connectivité, on peut rajouter en plus du Bluetooth 2,0, la connexion Wi-Fi et l’appareil est livré avec un câble USB pour la synchronisation de l’appareil avec un ordinateur.

No surprises here but at least Sony Ericsson's C905 Cyber-shot is now official. As a camera, we're talking Xenon flash, face detection, image stabilization and 8.1 megapixels crammed into a tiny sensor of unspecified make or dimensions. As a phone we're looking at quad-band GSM (9-hours talk / 380 hours standby) and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100 on the C905a worldphone variant. Remember when Samsung was pumping out cameraphones with increasingly ridiculous megapixel counts? At the moment, phones top-out at about 5 megapixels. Until this, the 8 megapixel C280 with 3x optical zoom and claimed 1600 ISO support (right) from the previously unheard of K-Touch. Ironically, it might very well be using a CMOS sensor from Samsung. Perhaps more interesting though is the fact that it'll be using Canon's own DIGIC III image processing when it hits the Chinese market.

Billionaire and former colleague donate $30m for telescope that can provide early warning of asteroid crash

Cerro Pachon is to host the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, a near $400m (£203m) project that will survey the entire sky several times a week - something never done before.

Every 15 seconds it will take an image seven times the diameter of the moon, adding up, every three days, to a full panorama of the heavens. Boasting 3,200 megapixels, it will be the world's biggest digital camera.

"Most telescopes look at a tiny part of the sky, to look deep and in detail. We want to look broadly, to cover everything," Victor Krabbendam, the deputy project manager, said yesterday.

This week the telescope took a step closer to reality after donations from two geeky philanthropic billionaires who are entranced by the technology and its possibilities.

Bill Gates gave $10m from his private fortune and a former Microsoft colleague, Charles Simonyi, gave $20m through his Fund for Arts and Sciences.
